  • Scripting is often used in games for novices at programming to enable implementation of the game. In this paper we examine the trial-and-error elements taken to implement game programming and identify the useful features for game scripting. This paper presents complemental elements based on avoiding trial-and-error, and discusses complementary statements implementation of this proposal, where the complementary statements were written in C# on Unity3D engine. The approach is compared and contrasted to the existing approach.

  • In the present paper experimental and numerical analysis of hook-ended steel fiber reinforced concrete is carried out. The experimental tests are performed on notched beams loaded in 3-point bending using fiber volume fractions up to 1.5%. The numerical analysis of fiber reinforced concrete beams is performed at meso scale. The concrete is discretized with 3D solid finite elements and microplane model is used as a constitutive law. The fibers are modelled by randomly generated 1D truss finite elements, which are connected with concrete matrix by discrete bond-slip relationship. It is demonstrated that the presented approach, which is based on the modelling of concrete matrix using microplane model, able to realistically replicate experimental results. In all investigated cases failure is due to the pull-out of fibers. It is shown that with increase of volume content of fibers the effective bond strength and slip capacity of fibers decreases.

  • Data on patent and scientific paper is considered as a useful information source for analyzing technological information and has been widely utilized. Technology big data is analyzed in various ways to identify the latest technological trends and predict future promising technologies. Clustering is one of the ways to discover new features by creating groups from technology big data. Patent includes refined bibliographic information such as patent classification code whereas scientific paper does not have appropriate bibliographic information for clustering. This research proposes a new approach for clustering data of scientific paper by utilizing reference titles in each scientific paper. In this approach, the reference titles are considered as textual information because each reference consists of the title of the paper that represents the core content of the paper. We collected the scientific paper data, extracted the title of the reference, and conducted clustering by measuring the text-based similarity. The results from the proposed approach are compared with the results using existing methodologies that one is the approach utilizing textual information from titles and abstracts and the other one is a citation-based approach. The suggested approach in this paper shows statistically significant difference compared to the existing approaches and it shows better clustering performance. The proposed approach will be considered as a useful method for clustering scientific papers.

  • Video copy detection methods have emerged in recent years for a variety of applications. However, the lack of efficiency in the usual retrieval systems restricts their use. In this paper, we propose a parallel implementation strategy for content based video copy detection (CBCD) by using a multi-core processor. This strategy can support video copy detection effectively, and the processing time tends to decrease linearly as the number of processors increases. Experiments have shown that our approach is successful in speeding up computation and as well as in keeping the performance.

  • We propose efficient video retrieval scheme which use fast key frame extraction in DCT domain. Our scheme extract key frame using the edge histogram difference which is extracted in compressed domain for I-frames. And the video retrieval is implemented using Hausdorff distance function about edge histogram of key frame. This approach enables fast content-based video retrieval of the compressed video content without decompression process. Experimental results show our scheme is very fast and efficient.

  • IPTV broadcast channels and video content distribution are increasingly saturating network paths. New solutions based on inter-domain multicast protocols could contribute to the enhancement of multimedia content distribution over the Internet. The aim of this paper is to propose new capabilities for an existing inter-domain multicast protocol, the Protocol Independent Multicast-Sparse Mode. We describe the modified protocol and analyze its behavior using newly developed tools based on an open-source software simulator. The resulting protocol does not require topology information, which is advantageous for easier deployment. In addition, the adopted solution avoids inherent problems with inter-domain multicast routing, such as multiple paths and path asymmetries.

  • To enable a relevance feedback paradigm to evolve itself by users' feedback, a reinforcement learning method is proposed. The feature space of the medical images is partitioned into positive and negative hypercubes by the system. Each hypercube constitutes an individual in a genetic algorithm infrastructure. The rules take recombination and mutation operators to make new rules for better exploring the feature space. The effectiveness of the rules is checked by a scoring method by which the ineffective rules will be omitted gradually and the effective ones survive. Our experiments on a set of 10,004 images from the IRMA database show that the proposed approach can better describe the semantic content of images for image retrieval with respect to other existing approaches in the literature.

  • In the present, the liquefaction potential of fiber-reinforced sandy soils was investigated through the energy-based approach by conducting a series of strain-controlled cyclic simple shear tests. In the tests, the effects of the fiber properties, such as the fiber content, fiber length, relative density and effective stress, and the test parameters on sandy soil improvement were investigated. The results indicated that the fiber inclusion yields to higher cumulative liquefaction energy values compared to the unreinforced (plain) ground by increasing the number of cycles and shear strength needed for the liquefaction of the soil. This result reveals that the fiber inclusion increases the resistance of the soil to liquefaction. However, the increase in the fiber content was determined to be more effective on the test results compared to the fiber length. Furthermore, the increase in the relative density of the soil increases the efficiency of the fibers on soil strengthening.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the mass media's news framing on the elderly leisure. For this, researchers collected news articles from daily newspapers such as Chosun Ilbo, Hankyoreh, Kyunghyang Shinmun, and analysed the news framing of them through text-analytic approach. Total of 153 news the about elderly leisure between 1990 and 2010 were used for frame analysis. The Frame analyses were divided by formal frame and content frame. The formal frame was formed by deduction based on the classification method of Iyergar(1991) and the content frame was formed by induction according to the analysis of overall themes and titles of news. The main result could be summarized as follows: First, the analysis of formal frame showed that the episodic frame was predominantly high which focused on specific event or occurrences about elderly leisure. Second, it was found by content frame analysis that elderly leisure's facilities, health, serious leisure, policy frame were main subjects of news framing.

  • Flexibility is crucial in applications where users or systems require precise control over the appearance of text in images, particularly in scene text editing tasks. However, previous methods have primarily focused on altering text content, often neglecting the important aspect of controlling text formatting. In this paper, we propose a text editing model that not only edits content but also provides control over the format, utilizing a diffusion model with denoising and text-aware losses. By integrating these mechanisms, the model is capable of generating high-quality scene text images based on user-specified inputs such as text, size, and font, ensuring that both the content and appearance align with user preferences. We evaluate the model's performance using OCR accuracy on the ICDAR FST dataset, and the results demonstrate that our approach is highly competitive and effective when compared to existing methods in the field.
