A Study on the Flexural Property of Glass Fiber Filled Coextruded Wood Plastic Composites (유리섬유가 충전된 공압출 목재.플라스틱 복합재의 굽힘 특성에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, the effect of various glass fiber (GF) contents in a shell layer and shell thickness changes on the flexural property of coextruded wood plastic composites (WPCs) in combination with three core systems (weak, moderate, and strong) was investigated. GF behaved as an effective reinforcement for the whole coextruded WPCs and GF alignments in the shell layer played an important role in determining the flexural property of the coextruded WPCs. At a given shell thickness, the flexural property of the whole coextruded WPCs was improved with the increase of GF content in shell. For core quality, when the core is weak, increase of GF content in shell led to improved flexural property of the whole composites and increase of shell thickness helped it. On the other hand, when the core is strong, the flexural property of the whole composites showed reduced features at low GF content in shell and increase of shell thickness aggravated it. This approach provides a method for optimizing performance of the coextruded WPCs with various combinations of core-shell structure and properties.

Luminous Characteristics of AC-PDP with Ridged Dielectric Layer in Various Xe Contents (능선형상의 유전체 구조를 갖는 AC-PDP의 Xe 함량 변화에 대한 발광특성)

  • In this paper, we suggest a new front panel structure with ridged front panel dielectric layer and hollow gap. The proposed structure can decrease a driving voltage and increase Xe content due to strong electric fields. In the experiment, we have used 6" test panel with 10 %, 15 %, 20 %, 30 % and 50 % Xe contents and 450 torr gas pressure. When comparing with a conventional structure in Xe 10 %, the proposed structure with same Xe content decreased a firing and sustain voltage by about 74 V and 79 V, also the luminance and luminous efficacy of proposed structure with 50 % Xe content were improved by about 33 % and 50.9 %..9 %.

  • The previous vitamin assays in soft capsules have been performed only with capsule contents. Since some vitamins, however, could migrate into gelatin layer of the soft capsules, each vitamin of multivitamin soft capsules in the market was analyzed simultaneously in both capsule content and gelatin layer. The results showed that migrations of nicotinamide and pyridoxine hydrochloride into gelatin layer were pronounced, while those of other vitamins were negligible.

  • Mechanical and chemical tests were performed on $Zro_2 \cdot SiO_2$ glass fibers manufactured by the sol-gel method and E-glass fibers-reinforced cement composites in order to investigate the interactions between glass fibers and cement matrices. Chemical attack leads to corrosion of the glass fiber surfaces. In the corrosion reactions, the surface of $30ZrO_2 \cdot 70 SiO_2$ glass fibers developed a densified concentric layer, which consists of glass corrosion products with much higher Zr and lower Si than the fresh glass fiber. The layer of reaction product is regarded to stiffen the cement matrices and provide a useful improvement to the mechanical properties. The addition of $ZrO_2$ content increases the corrosion resistance of glass fibers in cement by forming a passivating layer on the surface of glass fibers.

  • To use the GaN based light-emitting diodes (LEDs) as solid state lighting sources, the improvement of light extraction and internal quantum efficiency is essential factors for high brightness LEDs. In this study, we suggested the new materials system of a zinc tin oxide (ZTO) layer formed on blue LED epi-structures to improve the light extraction. ZTO is a representative n-type oxide material consisted of ZnO and SnO system. Moreover, ZTO is one of the promising oxide semiconductor material. Even though ZTO has higher chemical stability than IGZO owing to its SnO2 content this has high mobility and high reliability. After formation of ZTO layer on p-GaN layer by using the spin coating method, structural and optical properties are investigated. The x-ray diffraction (XRD) measurement results show the successful formation of ZTO. The photoluminescence (PL) and absorption spectrum shows that it has 3.6-4.1eV band gap. Finally, the light extraction properties of ZTO/LED chip using electroluminescence (EL) measurement were investigated. The experimental and theoretical analyses were simultaneously conducted.

  • In this study, the change in diffusion coefficient and wear characteristic with depth in the carbonitriding layer of SCM415 steel was discussed. To determine the diffusion coefficient, depth profile of carbon was measured from the surface using the Glow Discharge Spectrometer. In otherwise, measurements of carbide fraction, micro vickers hardness of surface and observation of microstructure have been implemented through the SEM image. $Fe_3$(C,N) layer and effective depth were increased as the time for carbonitriding takes longer. According to wear experiment, the results showed that wear resistance was improved by $Fe_3$(C,N) layer and effective depth.

  • In the glass/TCO/p-i-n a-Si/Al type of amorphous silicon solar cell, the effects on solar cell efficiency and metastability for the various kinds of TCO analyzed by SAM and ESCA, which was used to measure the diffusion profiles of In and Sn and the Fermi energy shifts in the TCO/p interface respectively. Indium which diffused into a-Si p-layer did not have any significant effects on the Fermi level shift of p-layer when the content of $B_2H_6/SiH_4$ in p-layer was at 1 gas%. The cell fabricated on $SnO_2$ turned out to have the best cell photovoltaic characteristics. ITO fabricated by electron beam deposition system, which was shown to have the greatest rate of diffusion of Indium in ITO/p interface produced the worst metastability among the cells tested.

Study on the Boriding of Steel in Ferroboron and NaBF4 Powder Mixture (훼로보론과 NaBF4 에 의한 강재의 침 경화처리에 관하여)

  • The boronizing method using ferroborn and NaBF4 powder mixture was studied for surface hardening of medium carbon steel. This boride layer was compared with a boride layer that was formed in ferroboron and KBF4 powder mixture. The frequency factor and activation energy were discussed in this paper. The main results obtained can be summerized as follow. 1) The optimum range of NaBF4 content is 10 to 15% of weight to obtain a thick and dense boride layer. 2) The depth of the boride layer was approximately expressed by the following equation : {{{{d=100 exp (-18,000/RT) SQRT { t} }} 3) The oxidating resistance of boronized steel proved to be good at 800$^{\circ}C$ but almost unacceptable near at 900 $^{\circ}C$. 4) The NaBF4 effect was the same as that reported for KBF4.

Effects of Hear Teratment on the Insulation Layer of Non-oriented Silicon Steel Sheets (열처리 조건이 무\ulcorner향성 규소강판의 절연피막에 미치는 영향)

  • The effect of heft treatment on the characteristic properties of insulation layer is studied for two kinds of non-oriented silicon steels, which were insulation-coates with various kinds of inorganic and inorganic-organic complex coating solutions. In addition, how the carbon contained in the insulation layer would affect the carbon content and the magnetic properties of the steel substrates is examined. Lower temperature heat treftment ($480^{\circ}C$ for 0.5hr) is found to render morw favorable surface qualities, wheras higher temperature heat treatment ($790^{\circ}C$ for 2hr) better core loss due to grin growt occurred during the heat treatment. Decarburization of the steel substrate is also found unaffectrd by the presence of carbon in the insulation layer.
