In order to predict the indoor air pollutant, the VOCs emission rate is used through small chamber in the design process. However, the small chamber method has limitations as the convective mass transfer coefficient, the most important factor when predicting VOCs contamination of indoor air, is different between the small chamber result and the measured data in the actual building. Furthermore, the existing studies which analyzed mass transfer coefficient in the small chamber were directed on the small chambers developed at the time and FLEC(Field and Laboratory Emission Cell), thus, are different from the current small chamber which has been changed with improvements. The purpose of this study is to determine the emission rate of pollutant in double-layered building materials through the CFD(Computational of Fluid Dynamics) and Numerical analysis based on the mass transfer coefficient on singled-layered building material by using the current small chamber widely used in Korea. Futhermore, this study used the new convective mass transfer coefficient($h_m'$) which indicates the existing convective mass transfer coefficient($h_m$) including VOC partition coefficient(k). Also, formaldehyde was selected as target pollutant.
This study is maintains the condition of high temperature (above $600^{\circ}C$) within a short time using on microwave and high temperature heating elements. And removal characteristics according to changes in soil moisture, microwave power and temperature through the decomposition of the contaminated soil by oil. The difficulty resolvability material was sort of lubricating oil having long carbocyclic (C18-C50) and TPH removal rate reached 85.2% at 6 kW and $700^{\circ}C$ and thus the contaminant was removed 1,788 mg/kg within a process time of 40 minutes. In the case of light oil, gasoline contaminated soil, the removal amount showed 567 mg/kg and the treatment rate reached 98.4% at 6 kW, $500^{\circ}C$ and 20 minute. In the case of non-resolvability reached TPH concentrations on 2,000 mg/kg of worrisome level of soil contamination in the 3 zones at 6 kW, $700^{\circ}C$ and 30 minute. At the time, showed up processing costs 8,173 won per ton.
The demand for traceability of meat and livestock supply chains is growing due to the high-profile incidents of hormonal contamination. E. coli, dioxin, BSE, and antibiotics have been recorded. In this paper, we present blockchain-based poultry information management system design and implementation using Hyperledger Fabric. The proposed system offers accurate, decentralized, immutable and consensus process that promote trust and transparency between stakeholders. The main tasks of the system include the recording of the information associated with poultry rearing (from a hatchery to a farm), status report of the farm activities on a monthly basis. The system can track movement of docks through the supply chain until delivery to the final consumer through the retail outlet. The ability to trace the source of livestock product through all the stages of rearing/production, processing and distribution is essential for ensuring food safety as recall of contaminated product can easily be done thereby increasing consumer confidence.
Elemental mercury exposure can result in significant toxicity. Source decontamination and remediation are often required after larger elemental mercury exposures, but the details of these processes are infrequently reported. In the case described herein, a 64-year-old woman and her husband were exposed to elemental mercury in their home after the husband purchased it online for the purpose of recreational barometer calibration. After the mercury reportedly spilled during the calibration process, a vacuum cleaner was used to decontaminate the affected surface; this led to extensive mercury contamination of the home. The couple was relocated from the home while remediation occurred over the course of several weeks. Vacuum cleaning of an elemental mercury spill can lead to extensive volatilization and recirculation of mercury vapor. For smaller mercury spills, careful removal of visible mercury beads by using an eyedropper, cardboard, and masking tape is recommended. Larger spills require professional decontamination and remediation and may necessitate involvement of governmental resources. Vacuum cleaning should not be used as an initial method of decontamination after elemental mercury exposure. Careful attention to source decontamination can reduce the emotional and financial costs associated with extensive remediation after elemental mercury exposure.
In Korea, traditional doenjang is manufactured using the conventional method at home and by small-scale enterprises. Because this age-old process depends on natural inoculation of various microorganisms, it is difficult to reproduce or maintain consistency in the final product quality across batches. Moreover, doenjang occasionally prepared by this method raises safety concerns related to aflatoxin, biogenic amine, and Bacillus cereus contamination. To develop starters that can be conveniently used at home or in small industry settings for the manufacturing of safe and flavor-improved doenjang, autochthonous microbe starters were developed in dried forms as ready-to-use starters. Each starter powder prepared by heat- or freeze-drying methods remained stable even after 24-week storage. These ready- to-use starter powders were successfully applied to lab-scale fermentation for the production of safe and flavor-improved doenjang. We believe that these ready-to-use starter powders will benefit small-scale enterprises in the manufacturing of doenjang of good reproducible quality.
Aerobic bacteria, coliforms, Escherichia coli, and pathogenic bacteria were investigated in laver Porphyra sp. samples from various regions of Korea. The mean bacterial counts were $6.9{\pm}0.87log\;CFU/g$ (range 4.0 to 7.7) log CFU/g in dried laver, $2.83{\pm}4.36log\;CFU/g$ in roasted laver, and $4.93{\pm}1.43log\;CFU/g$ in seasoned laver. Coliforms were most abundant (mean count: $2.1{\pm}1.01log\;CFU/g$) in dried laver. No pathogenic bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella spp. Vibrio parahaemolyticus, or Listeria monocytogenes, were detected in any of the samples. Aerobic microorganisms were the most diverse microorganisms in dried laver. Staphylococcus spp. were predominant, but S. aureus was not detected. Standardization of laver production is necessary to ensure a hygienic product because laver products are often ingested without heating or cooking, and the production process is simple.
This paper provides quantitative data that describes the evolution of the air quality in the Whale and Sea Museum, located in the Iwate prefecture, collected after the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami. The museum was damaged significantly by the disaster, and restoration works continued for over six years. The air quality in the temporary storage facility and museum was monitored during the rehabilitation process. Evaluation of air quality is carried out by gas chromatography- mass spectrometry, ion chromatography and high-performance liquid chromatography. The results showed that the characteristics of the chemical components differed depending on the measurement locations inside the building. The museum atmosphere tended to be alkaline as the airtightness increased because of the maintenance works at the entrance. It was also determined that it was necessary to study the intake/exhaust routes and to clean them according to the contamination degree. In Japan, there are recommended museum air quality standards for acetic acid, formic acid, alkali, and aldehydes. The results indicated that these standards should not be used as a reference for damaged museums. Furthermore, at the temporary storage facilities for to store the collections during the rehabilitation of the museum, solvents such as ethyl benzene, toluene, and xylene are initially abundant, although they can be reduced by ventilation, while other components such as 2E1H was confirmed in this case are likely to remain.

Two dimensional(2D) crystals, composed of a single layer or a few atomic layers extracted from layered materials are attracting researchers' interest due to promising applications in the nanoelectromechanical systems. Worldwide researchers are preparing devices with suspended 2D materials to study their physical and electrical properties. However, during the fabrication process of 2D flakes on a target substrate, contamination occurs, which makes the measurement data less reliable. We propose a dry transfer method using poly-methyl methacrylate(PMMA) for the 2D flakes to transfer onto the targeted substrate. The PMMA is then removed from the device by an N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone solution and a critical point dryer, which makes the suspended 2D flakes residue free. Our method provides a clean, reliable and controllable way of fabricating micrometer-sized suspended 2D nanosheets.
In the present study, we aimed to determine the cause of surface film formation in three rice vinegars fermented using the traditional static fermentation method. The pH and total acidity of vinegar were 3.0-3.3 and 3.0-8.7%, respectively, and acetic acid was the predominant organic acid present. Colonies showing a clear halo on GYC medium were isolated from the surface film of all vinegars. Via 16S rDNA sequencing, all of the isolates were identified as Acetobacter pasteurianus. Furthermore, field-emission scanning electron microscopy analysis showed that the bacterial cells had a rough surface, were rod-shaped, and were ${\sim}1{\times}2{\mu}m$ in size. Interestingly, cells of the isolate from one of the vinegars were surrounded with an extremely fine threadlike structure. Thus, our results suggest that formation of the surface film in rice vinegar was attributable not to external contamination, to the production of bacterial cellulose by A. pasteurianus to withstand the high concentrations of acetic acid generated during fermentation. However, because of the formation of a surface film in vinegar is undesirable from an industrial perspective, further studies should focus on devising a modified fermentation process to prevent surface film formation and consequent quality degradation.
A total of 10,317 hours of the KMTNet telescope time were allocated for the predefined science programs, and 7,765 hours have been used for science exposures in Chile, Australia and South Africa last year. The success rate of science observation has increased from 70.7% to 75.3%, and the system operation rate has also increased from 97.6% to 99.6%. There were many improvements in mechanical parts of the dome structure and telescope system, and newly installed filter driers of the CCD camera increased the stability of the system by preventing contamination of oil in the gas line in advance. In order to prepare for the time domain astronomy and multi messenger astronomy era, a pilot program was designed and is now being tested. It targets for fast follow-up observations of optical transient events, however it runs during twilight times only so it does not interrupt any granted science program. A total of 32 SCI papers were published using the system in 2018 and it is a good indication of the high science performance of KMTNet. The selection process of the next observation programs starting from October 2020 and its timeline will be discussed in this meeting.
