In order to produce size-controllable Ag nanoparticles and a nanomesh-patterned Si substrate, we introduce a rapid thermal annealing(RTA) method and a metal assisted chemical etching(MCE) process. Ag nanoparticles were self-organized from a thin Ag film on a Si substrate through the RTA process. The mean diameter of the nanoparticles was modulated by changing the thickness of the Ag film. Furthermore, we controlled the surface energy of the Si substrate by changing the Ar or $H_2$ ambient gas during the RTA process, and the modified surface energy was evaluated through water contact angle test. A smaller mean diameter of Ag nanoparticles was obtained under $H_2$ gas at RTA, compared to that under Ar, from the same thickness of Ag thin film. This result was observed by SEM and summarized by statistical analysis. The mechanism of this result was determined by the surface energy change caused by the chemical reaction between the Si substrate and $H_2$. The change of the surface energy affected on uniformity in the MCE process using Ag nanoparticles as catalyst. The nanoparticles formed under ambient Ar, having high surface energy, randomly moved in the lateral direction on the substrate even though the etching solution consisting of 10 % HF and 0.12 % $H_2O_2$ was cooled down to $-20^{\circ}C$ to minimize thermal energy, which could act as the driving force of movement. On the other hand, the nanoparticles thermally treated under ambient $H_2$ had low surface energy as the surface of the Si substrate reacted with $H_2$. That's why the Ag nanoparticles could keep their pattern and vertically etch the Si substrate during MCE.
This study described a synthesis of MF having a arsenic removal characteristics and the fundamental research was performed about the simultaneous removal system of both As(III) and As(V) ions with the composite nanofiber membrane (PMF) based on PVdF and MF materials for the water-treatment application. From the TEM analysis, the shape and structure of MF materials was investigated. The mechanical strength, pore-size, contact angle and water-flux analysis for the PMF was performed to investigate the possibility of utilizing as a water treatment membrane. From these results, the PMF11 showed the highest value of mechanical strength ($232.7kgf/cm^2$) and the pore-diameter of composite membrane was reduced by introducing the MF materials. In particular, their pore diameter decreased with an increase of iron oxide composition ratio. The water flux value of PMF was improved about 10 to 60% compared with that of neat PVdF nanofiber membranes. From the arsenic removal characterization of prepared MF materials and PMF, it was shown the simultaneous removal characteristics of both As(III) and (V) ions, and the MF01, in particular, showed the highest adsorption-removal rate of 93% As(III) and 68% As(V), respectively. From these results, prepared MF materials and PMF have shown a great potential to be utilized for the fundamental study to improve the functionality of water treatment membrane.

Purpose of present study is to investigate the effects of thread pitch in coronal portion in scalloped implant with 2 different connections on loading stress using 3 dimensional finite element analysis. Scalloped implant with 4 different thread pitches (0.4mm, 0.5mm, 0.6, and 0.7mm) in the coronal part was modeled with 2 different implant-abutment connections. Platform matching connection had the same implant and abutment diameter so that they were in flush contact at the periphery while platform mismatching connection had smaller abutment diameter than implant so that their connection was made away from periphery of implant-bone interface. Occlusal loading of 100N force was applied vertically and 30 degree obliquely to all 8 models and the maximum von Mises bone stress was identified. Loading stress as highly concentrated in cortical bone. Platform mismatching scalloped implant with small thread pitch (0.4mm) model had consistently lowest maximum von Mises bone stress in vertical and oblique loads. Platform matching model had lowest maximum von Mises bone stress with 0.6mm thread pitch in vertical load and with 0.4mm thread pitch in oblique load. Platform mismatching connection had important roles in reducing maximum von Mises bone stress. Scalloped implant with smaller coronal thread pitch showed trend of reducing maximum von Mises bone stress under load.
A new weighing sensor for the automatic diameter control system of the crystal growth is developed in this study. This weighing sensor measures the frequency of the vibrating element which is lineally changing with respect to weight. The signal and the power of this system are transmitted without any physical contact, so that this sensor offers high accuracy and resolution. This system consists of a string, a sinusoidal wave generator, an automatic amplification adjusting circuit, signal transformers and a PCB. 4 kinds of programs are developed for checking DAC, weight calibration and controlling growth process. The measurements of the standard deviation and the resolution show $\pm0.10g$(measured at every second) and $5{\times}10^{-5}$, respectively, This weighing sensor is effective under high pres-sure of 200 atm, high temperature and vacuum condition. The weighing system can control the temperature in the accuracy of $\pm0.025^{\circ}C$ with the 'signal divider'. The optical quality single crystals of $(YGd)_3Sc_2Ga_3O_{12},\;Er-Y_3Sc_2Al_3O_{12},\;and\;Bi_{12}GeO_{20}$ have been grown by Czo-chralski method using this auto-diameter control system.
The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate dentin bonding by two different dentin bonding systems(DBS) using acetone based primer or adhesive [All Bond 2(AB2), One Step(OS)] when they were applied by wet or dry bonding technique. Morphology of resin-dentin interface and hybrid layer thickness(HLT) were investigated using Confocal Laser Scanning Microscope(CLSM) and compared to shear bond strength(SBS). 72 extracted sound human molars were randomly divided into 4 groups of 18 teeth each - Group 1.(AW); AB2 by wet bonding. Group 2(AD); AB2 by dry bonding. Group 3.(OW); OS by wet bonding, Group 4.(OD); OS by dry bonding. In 6 teeth of each group, notch-shaped class V cavities(depth 2mm) were prepared on buccal and lingual surface at the cementoenamel juction(12 cavities per group). To obtain color contrast in CLSM observation, bonding resins of each DBS were mixed with rhodamine B and primer of AB2 was mixed with sodium fluorescein. Prepared teeth of each group were treated with AB2, OS, respectively according to the manufacturer's instructions except for dentin surface moisture treatment after acid etching. In group 1 and 3, after acid etching, excess water was removed with wet tissue(Kimwipes), leaving consistently shiny, visibly hydrated dentin surface. In group 2 and 4, dentin surface was dried for 10 seconds at 1 inch distance. The treated teeth were then packed with composite resin(${\AE}$litefil) and light-cured. 12 microscopic samples($60{\sim}80{\mu}m$ thickness) of each group were obtained after longitudinal section and grinding(Exakt cutting and grinding system). Morphological investigation of resin-dentin interface and HLT measurement using CLSM were done. For measurement of SBS, remaining 12 teeth of each group were flattened occlusally to remove all enamel and grinded to 500 grit SiC(Pedemet Specimen Preparation Equipment). After applying DBS on the exposed dentin surface, composite resin was applied in the shape of cylinder, which has 5mm diameter, 1.5mm thickness, and light cured. SBS was measured using Instron with a crosshead speed of 0.5mm/min. It was concluded as follows, 1. HLT of AW(mean: $2.59{\mu}m$) was thicker than any other group, and followed by AD, OW, OD in descending order(mean; 2.37, 2.28, $1.92{\mu}m$). Only OD had statistically significant differences(p<0.05) to AW and AD. 2. There were intimate contact of resin and dentin at the interface in wet bonding groups, but gaps or irregular interfaces were observed in dry bonding groups. 3. The length, diameter, density of resin tags were various even in the same group without significant differences between groups and lots of adhesive lateral branches were observed. 4. There were no statistically significant difference of SBS between AB2 and OS, but SBS of wet bonding groups were significantly higher(p<0.05) than dry bonding groups. 5. There were no consistent relationships between HLT and SBS.

Urban green spaces offer a variety of benefits to living things and humans. However, existing green spaces have been reduced and fragmented due to urbanization, and there is a limit to creating new large green spaces in densely developed cities. Street trees have fewer restrictions on land use, which can be a measure to secure green areas in cities. In Korea, excessive pruning is being done on some street trees for reasons such as blocking of building signboards, contact with electric wires, and restrictions on sidewalk widths. Therefore, it is necessary to quantitatively understand the relationship between the benefits provided by street trees and their structures to come up with an efficient and systematic planning and management plan for urban street trees. In this study, we quantitatively analyzed the relationship between the thermal comfort improvement by the shades of street trees and the vertical structure, planting environment, and types of street trees. To calculate the thermal comfort felt by human body, we calculated UTCI (Universal Thermal Climate Index) of each street tree. For the vertical structure of street trees, we used Terrestrial LiDAR and the point clouds of street tree's crown was sliced vertically at 1m intervals. We conducted a multiple regression analysis on the thermal comfort improvement using the variables we obtained from fields. As a result, in the case of a street tree's vertical structure, the lager the volume of tree's crown located 3-4m (β=0.298, p<.05) and 6-7m (β=0.568, p<.001) above clear length, the better the cooling effect. In addition, the thermal comfort improvement was assessed to decrease as the DBH increased (β=-0.435, p<.001). In general, the crown diameter and DBH are positively correlated, with a cooling effect occurring as crown diameter increases. In this study, the opposite result was obtained due to the small number of trees measured, so additional research is needed by increasing the number of tree samples. In the case of the planting environment, the effect of improving thermal comfort was higher in the shaded area of trees planted to the south (β=-0.541, p<.001). Since unsystematic management of street trees can deteriorate the function of them, quantitative evaluations of the vertical structure of street trees are required, which can provide specific measures for planning and management of urban street trees with thermal comfort effect.

In this research, we studied the development of a SUS304 microneedle array based on microfabrication technology and the applicability of Parylene-C thin film, a medical polymer material. First of all, four materials commonly used in the field of medical engineering (SUS304, Ti, PMMA, and PEEK) were selected and a 5 ㎛ Parylene-C thin film was deposited. The applicability of Parylene-C coating to each material was confirmed through SEM analysis, contact angle measurement, surface roughness(Ra) measurement, and adhesion test according to ASTM standards for each specimen. Parylene-C thin film was deposited based on chemical vapor deposition (CVD), and a 5 ㎛ Parylene-C deposition process was established through trial and error. Through characteristic experiments to confirm the applicability of Parylene-C, SUS304 material, which is the easiest to apply Parylene-C coating without pretreatment was selected to develop a microneedle array based on CNC micromachining technology. The CNC micromachining process was divided into a total of 5 steps, and a microneedle array consisting of 19 needles with an inner diameter of 200 ㎛, an outer diameter of 400 ㎛, and a height of 1.4 mm was designed and manufactured. Finally, a 5 ㎛ Parylene-C coated microneedle array was developed, which presented future research directions in the field of microneedle-based drug delivery systems.
It was revealed that the morphology and projection pattern of terminal arbors from single primary afferent are different among distinct fiber types, functional types and the different subdivision of trigeminal sensory nucleus complex(TSNC). But it was not identified the ultrastructural morphology and synaptic connections of terminal arbors from each primary afferent within TSNC. So we employed the intra-axonal horseradish peroxidase(HRP) injection technique to define the terminal arbors of primary afferent fiber from slowly adapting mechanoreceptors in the periodontal ligament of the cat, and examined 66 labeled terminal arbors within the rostrodorsomedial part(Vo.r) of the trigeminal nucleus oralis, electromicroscopically with 90nm serial sections. All the boutons labelled with HRP contained clear, spherical and uniform sized synaptic vesicles(diameter : $47.66{\pm}3.58nm$ ). Most of the labelled boutons were boutons en passant type and they were connected by unmyelinated axonal strand. In which neurofilament and microtubule was not developed but occasionally contained synaptic vesicle in contrast to the myelinated axon. The size of the labelled bouton was relatively small(long diameter : $1.46{\pm}0.24{\mu}m$, short diameter $0.85{\pm}0.26{\mu}m$, average diameter $1.15{\pm}0.24{\mu}m$) and the shape of which varied from dome to elongated shape, but scalloped glomerulus shape was not developed. Each primary ending in Vo.r made synapse with one or two neuronal propiles(average : $1.11{\pm}0.31$), of which, 89.4% of labelled boutons made synapse with only one neuronal pro pile, the remainder, 10.6% of labelled boutons, made synapse with two neuronal propile. So characteristically they made very simple synapse. Most of labelled boutons(80.03%) made asymmetrical synapse only with dendritic shaft or spine, and 6.1% of labelled boutons received symmetrical synapse from pleomorphic vesicle containing axonal ending(p-ending). So presynaptic inhibiton was relatively scarce. Synaptic triad, in which a p-ending is presynaptic both pre-and post-synaptic element of the axo-dendritic contact from the labelled primary ending was not observed.
Purpose. This retrospective study was to investigate the survival and complication rates of posterior single implant according to the implant diameters, lengths and position. Materials and methods. Patients who had been restored single implant prosthesis in the posterior area by the three prosthodontists in the department of prosthodontics, Daejeon dental hospital of Wonkwang university, in the period from February 2014 to May 2018 were selected for the study. A total of 505 patients with 697 implants were observed. The survival and complications of implants were investigated using electronic medical records and radiographs. Fixture diameters, lengths, position, patient's sex and age were assessed as possible factor affecting the survival and complications of implants. Results. 3-year cumulative survival rates of posterior single implants were 98.5% and 5-year cumulative survival rates were 94.4%. 5-year cumulative survival rates were higher in implants with diameter > 4.0 mm (97.0%) than implants with diameter ≤ 4.0 mm (89.5%), and in females (98.8%) than males (92.4%). There were statistically significant differences (P < .05). The mechanical complication rate was 20.1% and the biological complication rate was 4.7%. Complications occurred in order of abutment screw loosening (7.5%), decementation (6.3%), proximal contact loss (3.7%) and so on. Abutment screw loosening occurred more frequently in the lower molar region (10.5%), in males (9.5%) than females (5.1%), and in patients aged < 65 years (9.4%) than patients aged ≥ 65 years (5.1%). There were statistically significant differences (P < .05). Conclusion. The 5-year cumulative survival rates were higher in implants with diameter > 4.0 mm than implants with diameter ≤ 4.0 mm and in females than males. Abutment screw loosening which was the most commonly occurring complication occurred more frequently in the lower molar region, in males than females, and in patients aged < 65 years than patients aged ≥ 65 years. There were statistically significant differences.

ZnO nanorods were successfully fabricated on Zn foil by chemical bath deposition (CBD) method. The ZnO precursor concentration and immersion time affected the surface morphologies, structure, and electrical properties of the ZnO nanorods. As the precursor concentration increased, the diameter of the ZnO nanorods increased from ca. 50 nm to ca. 150 nm. The thicknesses of the ZnO nanorods were from ca. $1.98{\mu}m$ to ca. $2.08{\mu}m$. ZnO crystalline phases of (100), (002), and (101) planes of hexagonal wurtzite structure were confirmed by XRD measurement. The fabricated ZnO nanorods showed a photoluminescene property at 380 nm. Especially, the ZnO nanorods deposited for 6 h in solution with a concentration of 0.005M showed a stronger (101) peak than they did (100) or (002) peaks. In addition, these ZnO nanorods showed a good electrical property, with the lowest resistance among the four samples, because the nanorods were densely in contact and relatively without pores. Therefore, a ZnO nanorod substrate is useful as a highly sensitive biochip substrate to detect biomolecules using an electrochemical method.
