GaAs/AlGaAs HEMT소자의 제작 및 특성 (Fabrication and Characterization of GaAs/AlGaAs HEMT Device)

  • We have been successfully fabricated the low nois HEMT device with AlGaAs and GaAs structure. The epitazial layer with n-type AlgaAs and undoped GaAs was grown by molecular beam epitaxy(MBE) system. Ohmic resistivity of the ource and drain contact is below 5${\times}10^{6}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm^{2}$ by the rapid thermal annealing (RTA) process. The ideality factor of the Schottky gate is below 1.6 and the gate material was Ti/Pt/Au. The HEMTs with 0.25$\mu$m-long and 200$\mu$m-wide gates have exhibited a noise figure of 0.65dB with associated gain of 9dB at 12GHz, and a transconductance of 208mS/mm.

Recent Developments in Multibody Dynamics

  • Multibody system dynamics is based on classical mechanics and its engineering applications originating from mechanisms, gyroscopes, satellites and robots to biomechanics. Multibody system dynamics is characterized by algorithms or formalisms, respectively, ready for computer implementation. As a result simulation and animation are most convenient. Recent developments in multibody dynamics are identified as elastic or flexible systems, respectively, contact and impact problems, and actively controlled systems. Based on the history and recent activities in multibody dynamics, recursive algorithms are introduced and methods for dynamical analysis are presented. Linear and nonlinear engineering systems are analyzed by matrix methods, nonlinear dynamics approaches and simulation techniques. Applications are shown from low frequency vehicles dynamics including comfort and safety requirements to high frequency structural vibrations generating noise and sound, and from controlled limit cycles of mechanisms to periodic nonlinear oscillations of biped walkers. The fields of application are steadily increasing, in particular as multibody dynamics is considered as the basis of mechatronics.

An Algorithm for the Characterization of Surface Crack by Use of Dipole Model and Magneto-Optical Non-Destructive Inspection System

  • Leakage magnetic flux (LMF) is widely used for non-contact detection of cracks. The combination of optics and LMF offers advantages such as real time inspection, elimination of electrical noise, high spatial resolution, etc. This paper describes a new nondestructive evaluation method based on an original magneto-optical inspection system, which uses a magneto-optical sensor, LMF, and an improved magnetization method. The improved magnetization method has the following characteristics: high observation sensitivity, independence of the crack orientation, and precise transcription of the geometry of a complex crack. The use of vertical magnetization enables the visualization of the length and width of a crack. The inspection system provides the images of the crack, and shows a possibility for the computation of its depth.

  • The measurement study of instantaneous temperature at combustion chamber wall and the temperature of combustion gas has been under lots of research and development to conclude the temperature process in internal combustion engine for combustion characteristics analysis. The measurement with fast responsibility should be used for temperature measurement inside combustion chamber wall since temperature of wall changes, due to the various gas temperature, irregularly during the combustion. Therefore, thin film instantaneous surface temperature probe, which characterizes the fastest and the most accurate responsibility among contact typed temperature measurement, was used for the experiments. This new thin film instantaneous surface temperature probe improved the problems of noise and durability. The optimal coating thickness of thin film instantaneous surface temperature probe was proven to be $10{\mu}m$ for the best responsibility and durability. It also allowed the stable temperature measurement be taken up to $1,200^{\circ}C$ and proven to be read possibly from the combustion chamber wall.

  • Since there is a blind zone in driver's view around the excavator, industrial accidents between the equipment and the workers within the zone have been occurred frequently. The purpose of this paper is to develop a obstacle recognition system which can prevent such an accident by providing the driver with the information on direction and distance of the obstacle within the blind zone. We designed the ultrasonic sensor based obstacle recognition system which consists of sensor arrays and a control unit connected via CAN(controller area network). The Cross-correlation technique and histogramic probability distribution method are used as a reliable obstacle detection algorithms to remove the environmental noise. The experimental results using a real excavator show the effectiveness of the system.

저마찰 박막코팅 적용 타펫 부품의 마찰 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Friction Characteristics of Tappet by Low Friction Coating)

  • The wear of the contact in the tappet accounts for the greatest portion of entire friction loss of an engine, leading to the occurrence of abnormal wear. The coated specimens for earn-tappet wear test were producted by using PVD-Sputtering coating method. It examined the friction characteristics occurring between the earn and the tappet by using the dedicated wear tester and found that the friction torque value was reduced through comparison testing with the existing part when the low friction coating was applied. So application of the low friction coating to actual vehicles will reduce the fuel economy and occurrence of noise-vibration.

  • Maglev is a non-contact traffic system in which cars are supported by magnetic force instead of wheels. This is a ground-breaking traffic system providing superior environmental friendliness and cost efficiency due to the minimal noise and vibration offered by its non-contacting nature. We study the present specification and performance of the low speed urban maglev system in Korea and other countries. After set up the test line, to success the "Commercialization of Korean Urban Maglev System" project, we establish proper requirement of maglev system in Korean environment on base of "Daejeon National Science Museum Maglev Establish Project".

Properties and Structure of High Frequency Soft Magnetic Nano-composite Films

  • Metal-insulator type, nano-granular soft magnetic films have been reviewed from the viewpoint of high frequency magnetic materials. The formation of nano-granular structure is related to the magnitude of heat of formation of intergranule materials. Variation of the ratio of granule phase to intergranule phase in the film is found to produce various characteristics in the magnetic properties of the film. The HRTEM observation reveals that neighboring granules in the film with above 60 at.% Co, contact at considerable points and the films show soft magnetic properties which are explainable in terms of the random anisotropy model for nano-crystalline materials. Addition of Ni group elements in Co-O based films enhances their anisotropy field up to 400 Oe and they exhibit excellent frequency response of permeability. Also, large electromagnetic noise suppression effect is demonstrated as one of their potential applications.

작업환경개선을 위한 석재연마공정에 있어서의 다축마석연마장치 개발 (- Development of the multi axis whetstone system in the stone polishing process for the work environment improvement -)

  • A multi axis whetstone polishing system, which uses the flow system of the stone polishing machine head, has been developed. The test results show that the defect by line contact polishing does not occur in both ends of the stone and that it came to trim smoothly. In terms of the surface roughness, the corresponding index was decreased by 3.6 times, improving the polishing effect greatly. It decreased significantly the dust and noise with the wet polishing. The factors of the duty evasion at production site can thus be solved with the work environment improvement against the polishing process of the stone industry and work intensive reduction.

Three-dimensional Shape Recovery from Image Focus Using Polynomial Regression Analysis in Optical Microscopy

  • Non-contact three-dimensional (3D) measuring technology is used to identify defects in miniature products, such as optics, polymers, and semiconductors. Hence, this technology has garnered significant attention in computer vision research. In this paper, we focus on shape from focus (SFF), which is an optical passive method for 3D shape recovery. In existing SFF techniques using interpolation, all datasets of the focus volume are approximated using one model. However, these methods cannot demonstrate how a predefined model fits all image points of an object. Moreover, it is not reasonable to explain various shapes of datasets using one model. Furthermore, if noise is present in the dataset, an error will be generated. Therefore, we propose an algorithm based on polynomial regression analysis to address these disadvantages. Our experimental results indicate that the proposed method is more accurate than existing methods.
