  • This study on the prevention of electric fire. Generally the electric fire is caused by break or disconnection of the power line, short circuit and poor contact, arcing fault ect. In these causes, this paper is studied on the detection of poor contact and arcing fault. The arcing fault is caused by poor contact mainly. The arcing fault can occurs a electric fire by interaction of flammable gas and materials and it can be caused of tracking and carbonization. These phenomenons is also caused of electric fire. Therefore this paper is studied on the detection of arcing fault and poor contact.

  • The man-machine interface Is an important factor in the computer system, and it is thought that line-of-sight (LOS) detection technology will allow significant advances in this field. Techniques for detecting LOS for use in human interfaces have been studied[1][2]. In earlier studies, however, LOS was detected with a head piece, goggles, or through fixing the position of the head. The limitations imposed by these fixed conditions render them unsuitable far use in interfaces, as they have adverse mental or physical effects on humans. Therefore. they have not been sufficiently developed for practical application. Research on non-contact LOS detection is expected to result in a usable LOS man-machine interface[3][4], and the current study is intended to be a step in that direction. The authors used color contact lenses for LOS detection, and applied this new method to a computer interface. The use of color contact lenses simplifies image processing. The algorithm used in this study is sufficiently accurate for practical applications. This technique can be used in input devices, in virtual reality applications, and in human engineering research.

  • Non-contact detection of internal defects in a rail using ultrasonic waves is discussed in this paper. Cracks in a rail may be the cause of a serious railway accident such as derailment if left undetected. Concurrent rail inspection method based on ultrasonic testing using piezoelectric transducers has several limitations as it should keep physical contact with the rail. This work suggests a non-contact detection of internal defects in a rail using ElectroMagnetic Acoustic Transducers (EMAT) which can produce and measure ultrasonic waves in a rail without any couplant. The EMATs for rail inspection are designed and fabricated and their working performance is verified through a series of experiments on various types of internal defects in test rails. The effect of lift-off between the transducers and the rail on the generated signals is also discussed.

  • We investigate the role of contact location information on the perception of local features during contour following in a virtual environment. An absolute identification experiment is conducted under force-alone and force-plus-contact-location conditions to investigate the effect of the contact location information. The results show that the participants identify the local features significantly better in terms of higher information transfer for the force-plus-contact-location condition, while no significant difference was found for measures of the efficacy of contour following between the two conditions. Further data analyses indicate that the improved identification of local features with contact location information is due to the improved identification of small surface features.

  • A new design of contact detection algorithm is proposed for the z-axis of a wire bonder that interconnects between pads and leads in semiconductor manufacturing processes. Fast and stable contact detection of the z-axis is extremely important fer maintaining proper quality in the fine pitch gold wire bonding process, which has a small pad size of below 70um. The new method is based on a statistical approach and designed for the discrete Kalman filter. Real wire bonding experimental results are presented to demonstrate the advantages of the proposed algorithm.

  • This research is the development of a skin-type tactile sensor for service robot using PVDF film for the detection of the contact state. The Prototype of the tactile sensor which has 8$\times$8 taxels was fabricated using PVDF film In the fabrication procedure of the sensor, the electrode patterns and common electrode of the thin conductive tape were attached to the both side of the 28 micro meter thickness PVDF film using conductive adhesive. The sensor was covered with polyester film for insulation and attached to the rubber base for making stable structure. The signals of a contact pressure to the tactile sensor were sensed and processed in the DSP system in which the signals were digitized and filtered. Finally, the signals were integrated for taking the force profile. The processed signals of the output of the sensor were visualized in PC, the shape and force distribution of the contact object were obtained. The reasonable performance for the detection of contact state was verified through the experiment.

  • In this paper, measurement techniques are presented to test the performance of insulation without interruption if it is difficult to measure insulation resistance. Especially, non-contact voltage phase detection techniques have been developed that can be applied in environments where it is difficult to find voltage measurement locations such as component receptors. The performance verification of the non-interrupting insulation resistance measuring devices has been tested against existing products using standard calibration equipment and test jigs. The validation confirmed performance within 2 % for direct contact type and within 10 % for non-contact type. In addition, the procedure to make continuous insulation test using the equipment was proposed.

  • In recent years, a non-contact respiration and heart rates monitoring via IR-UWB radar has been paid much attention to in various applications - patient monitoring, occupancy detection, survivor exploring in disaster area, etc. In this paper, we address a novel approach of real time heart rate estimation using IR-UWB radar. We apply sine fitting and peak detection method for estimating respiration rate and heart rate, respectively. We also deploy two techniques to mitigate the error caused by wrong estimation of respiration rate: a moving average filter and finding the frequency of the highest occurrence. Experimental results show that the algorithm can estimate heart rate in real time when respiration rate is presumed to be estimated accurately.

  • To measure the fatigue of metallic objects at high speed vibration while non-contact precision displacement measurement on how to have a lot of research conducted. Noncontact high-speed vibration detection sensor of the eddy current sensors and laser sensors are used, but it is very expensive. Recently, High-speed vibrations detection using an inexpensive inductive sensor to have been studied, but is still a beginner. In this paper, a new design of an inexpensive inductive proximity sensor has been suggested in order to measure high frequency dynamic displacements of metallic specimens in a noncontact manner. Detection of the existing inductive sensors, detection, integral, and amplified through a process to detect the displacement noise due to weak nature of analog circuits and integral factor in the process of displacement detection is slow. The proposed method could be less affected by noise, the analog receive and high-speed signal processing is a new way, because AD converter (Analog to Digital converter) without using the vibration frequency signals directly into digital signals are converted. In order to evaluate the sensing performance, The proposed sensor module using non-contact vibration signals were detected while shaker vibration frequencies from 30Hz to 1,100 Hz at intervals of vibrating metallic specimens. Experimental results, Vibration frequency detection range of the metallic specimins within close proximity to contactless 5mm could be measured from DC to 1,100Hz and vibration amplitude of the resolution was $20{\mu}m$. Therefore, the proposed non-contact inductive sensor module for precision vibration detection sensor is estimated to have sufficient performance.
