Consumers′ Recognition and Information Need about GMO in Youngnam Region (영남지역 소비자의 유전자재조합 식품에 대한 인식도 및 정보요구도에 관한 연구)

  • This study focused on the recognition and information need for GMO(Genetically Modified Organism). The data were collected from 350 adults living in Daegu and Busan by means of a self-administered questionnaire. Frequencies and chi-square tests were conducted by SPSS Windows. The results of the survey were as follows: (1) the concerns about GMO were high but recognition was low. (2) many respondents were worried about the safety of GMO. (3) many people desired the labelling of GMO, and (4) the need for information about GMO was high and most respondents wanted to be informed about safety of GMO. This study suggests that the consumer education about GMO should be conducted through mass media and consumer protection organizations.

  • The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the present conditions and problems of the Electronic Commerce, specially by the fashion companies that utilize the Internet and to propose using plans of Internet Electronic Commerce as a strategic method of fashion companies that have a information-oriented mind to adapt itself to modern century. On the basis of my analysis, I propose some using plans of Internet Electronic Commerce by the fashion companies as follows. As a means of construction method, it is need for the pertinent companies to have an information-oriented mind and then to construct the low-expense but high-speed communication Infrastructure. As an operation and management method, positive web site advertisements plans, such as promotion, using various mass media, subscribing to the Internet search engines and dissemination of products information, etc., are need for companies to attract the consumers to connect to the web site. Second, to offer more satisfactory experiences, it is need for companies to frame the integrated shopping mall as a strategic alliance in the management of shopping mall. To frame the integrated shopping mall is also effective in solving financial problems of shopping mall management and introducing of security system As a means of technology supplement, security management systems, such as SSL or SET, should be introduced for consumers to pay the price and furnish their personal informations. Second, new technology developments, such as the newest simulation programs using Virtual Reality to solve the problem of products' actual feeling, should be need for consumers to feel as they really put clothes on. If these technological developments are realized, fashionable products will be dealt in the Internet shopping mall as well and the marketability of Internet shopping mall will be expanded.

The Impact of Golf Apparel Consumers' Shopping Value on Store Loyalty: The Moderating Role of Consumers' Need for Uniqueness and a Store Type (골프의류 소비자의 쇼핑가치가 점포충성도에 미치는 영향: 독특성 욕구와 점포 유형의 조절효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine a moderating effect of consumers'need for uniqueness and a store type in the relation between golf apparel consumers'shopping values and store loyalty. A total of 229 shoppers visiting golf shops at two department stores and four discount stores in Seoul was conveniently selected and responded to the survey questionnaire. Data analyses were conducted including frequency analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis and moderated multiple analysis with PASW 18.0. The results of this study indicated that (1) both utilitarian shopping value and hedonic shopping value affected store loyalty, (2) the impact of both shopping values on store loyalty was moderated by consumers' need for uniqueness, and (3) the impact of hedonic shopping value on store loyalty was moderated in terms of the store type, whereas the effect of utilitarian value on store loyalty was not moderated with the store type. Additional implications and directions for future research opportunities were discussed and suggested.

A Qualitative Study on the Evaluation on tm he Consumers' Voluntary Anti-sites on On-line from the People Concerned (소비자 자발적 안티 사이트 관련자들의 안티사이트 평가: 질적연구방법의 적용)

  • This study examined the evaluation on the consumers' voluntary anti-sites on on-line from the people concerned, such as the people of an enterprise, a consumer organization, and the consumer. We collected the data using in-depth interview of qualitative analysis. The in-depth interviews were carried out for about two hours in each respondent. Total 15 respondents, 5 in each part of three parts such as an enterprise, a consumer organization, and the consumer, were answered a interview. The data was analysed by content analysis method. As the result of this study, the people concerned to enterprises answered that anti-sites helped the enterprises through the objective and the constructive criticism. The consumers participating in the anti-sites also answered that the existence of anti-sites helped the companies to know the complaint and the dissatisfaction with their goods or services. We suggest the followings for the desirable consumers' voluntary anti-sites through this study. First, the companies need to recognize that the anti-sites help the companies because the anti-sites give the companies the information of improving the product and the corporate management. Second, people concerned to the consumer organizations need to take a neutral role so that the consumer members of anti-sites demand a proper compensation to the companies and receive the reasonable compensation. Third, the anti-sites' managers should give information to the consumer members of the anti-sites continuously, operate the anti-sites actively such as answering a question and managing their members. Fourth, the consumer members of anti-sites should have active attitude in participating in an anti-sites from exchanging various information to uploading their information.

  • In recent, the marketing competitions that stimulates the emotions of consumers are intensifying in the domestic construction industry due to the increase of unsold new apartments. However, there is a need for brand identity establishment through which more differentiated information can be delivered to the consumers, as each brand is focusing only on idealistic image advertisements of dream, future and happiness. Accordingly in this study, the top five brand apartments according to the national brand value evaluation index (BSTI, BrandStock Top Index) were selected and analyzed their TV advertisement characteristics, and its purpose is in evaluating the brand images perceived by the consumers of their TV advertisements. The significance of the results from this study is in presenting the basic information for establishing effective communication between the corporations and consumers. The survey research of this study was conducted for the students of D University, and SPSS 14.0 program was used for the statistical data analysis.

  • The findings of the study would be valuable for the basis of marketing strategies to be implemented in the foodservice industry. As a result of the exploratory factor analysis, major consumer dissatisfaction factors identified in this study can be categorized based on the followings: food, service, and facilities. It appears that most preferred medium for unsatisfied consumers to file their employees how to cope with complaints on the Internet. In terms of psychological compensation, it appears that consumers need to be provided with a through explanation in addition to a heartfelt apology against a complaint. On the physical side of compensation solution for everybody. The ideal timing of compensation for complaints can vary but it would be appropriate to leave it up to consumers to choose when they want to be rewarded.

  • The apparel market is extremely competitive and thus apparel manufacturers should try to maximize consumer satisfaction with cost-efficient but consumer-oriented strategies. Personalized strategies considering each consumer's characteristics have to be developed. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of consumers' characteristics on personalization strategies of apparel brands. Investigating personalization based on consumers' values and demographic characteristics will allow apparel manufacturers to attract target consumers. A survey method was used for the empirical study. Questionnaires from 420 respondents were analyzed using factor analysis, cluster, t-test, and ANOVA. The results indicated a significant influence of consumer values on customer service-related aspects of personalization. Female consumers demanded product- and information-oriented factors of personalization. Age, residential area, and clothing expense also had significant influence on the need for personalization of apparel shopping.

  • As the agricultural marketing environments, which are consumers' tastes and preferences, producers' involvements in marketing business, government policy and liberalization of domestic market, have rapidly changed, current marketing systems are facing transitional periods. To cope with changing marketing environments, it is desirable to develop new marketing system that efficiently direct the flow of agricutlural products from producers to consumers. Cyber-marketing system, in which producers and consumers could conduct direct transaction with each other using computer internet system, would be suggested so that marketing stages and costs can be reduced. However, for cyber-marketing to be managed successfully, it is a need to establish data base and information network system for producers' group and consumers' group and to improve the marketing functional performances such as grading, packaging, and storage system.

What are Considered When Building Purchase Intention of Unfamiliar-Branded Cosmetics?

  • In this study, causal relationships of belief-attitude-purchase intention for unfamiliar-branded cosmetics (UBC) were tested based on the theory of reasoned action. Data of 249 consumers who have purchased UBC were submitted to the descriptive statistics, exploratory factor analysis, and regression analysis with SPSS. In results of exploratory analysis, three factors of beliefs on UBC were generated and titled as ingredients, publicity, and subsidiary features. In regression analysis results, ingredient factor affected attitude toward UBC while publicity and subsidiary features did not influence attitude toward UBC. It implies that consumers build their attitude toward brands focusing on ingredients that are core elements of cosmetic products. Attitude toward UBC solely influenced purchase intention while the effect of social acceptance on purchase intention was not found. In conclusion, consumers depend much on ingredients when they purchase UBC so brands newly launched or brands without reputations need to focus more on an excellence in ingredients and special functions of UBC to appeal to consumers when penetrating to the new market.

Innerwear Consumer Segmentation According to the Shopping Orientation (내의류 소비자의 구매 성향에 따른 시장 세분화 연구)

  • Apparel has been generally considered to be high involvement merchandise. But, there are many kinds of merchandises with various attributes within the apparel category. Among apparel merchandises, innerwears have been known to be relatively low-involved and convenience products. Lately, many brands with brand name, high quality, and fashionability were launched, and innerwear consumers became more sophisticated and individualized. Therefore, investigating the shopping orientations and behavious of innerwear consumers is needed. Consumers perceived the images and attributes of competing brands to be similar. So, those brands in competition need to establish differentiation strategy. Generally, the innerwear shopping orientation of consumers was passive and low-involved. But, they could be segmented into apathetic group, brand oriented/loyal group, and rational/economic purchaser group. These groups showed significant differences in demographic characteristics, store patronage, and information sources of innerwear. Therefore, there are consumer groups with various shopping orientations and purchasing behaviors in the innerwear market.
