관개용수로의 비용분석에 관한 연구 (Cost Comparisou of Conveyance Systems for Irrigation Districts)

  • This paper compares the estimated total construction and maintenance costs for irrigation canals in six irrigation districts near Pyongtaek. Three conventional canal types were considered: concrete bench flumes, concrete-lined canals, and earth canals. The total expenses for each type were grouped to four catagories: the net construction, land acquisition, maintenance, and other expenses. The construction costs included the assumed costs for conveyance losses from each type of canals. The results from this study support earlier studies that the bench flumes are economically feasible. Initially cheaper conveyance systems like concrete-lined and earth canals demand 'higher maintenance costs and thus, their total expenses are summed to exceed those for the bench flumes within a few years following the construction. Banch flumes are economically justifiable for the main canals of the studying districts. Sensitivity analyses were executed to evaluate the relative importance of each expense to the total cost. The analyses show that total expenses very significantly with the change of the following costs: cost for conveyance losses, net construction, maintenance, and land acquisition, in that order However, other expenses contribute little if not at all to the total. The results indicate that bench flumes should be adopted as main canal structures for most irrigation districts in the Republic.

The Analysis of Railroad Operating Costs in Korean Railroad Projects

  • Purpose: A railroad project is a complex system with large construction costs in the initial stage and ongoing operating costs over its lifecycle. Current railroad projects tend to be based on construction options, which leads to huge deficiencies in operating costs. This phenomenon results from a lack of appropriate tools to accurately estimate a railroad project's lifecycle costs. This study attempts to analyze the major components of railroad operating costs and to propose a decision-making system for analyzing the long-term lifecycle costs of railroad projects. Research design, data and methodology: We review the literature and analyze the current status of railroad operating costs in Korea and overseas. Based on previous projects, a framework for project options and operating costs is proposed. The framework is applied to actual railroad projects to demonstrate the validity of the model. Results: Case analysis shows that our framework is comprehensive in analyzing the primary aspects of railroad operating costs and plays an effective role in choosing various railroad project options. This study points out that the railway project operates inefficiently because estimating long-term costs without reflecting specific project options causes many errors. Conclusions: A major contribution of this study is the development of an improved framework for accurately estimating operating costs and providing policymakers and engineering firms with a holistic decision support system. Detailed components in estimating operating costs of the railroad business are discussed. And we present a decision-making tool that policymakers and private businesses can use in planning the railroad business.

플랜트 건설의 현장시공 및 모듈시공에 대한 공사비 비교 사례연구 - Pipe Rack을 대상으로 공사비 산정 - (A Case Study on Construction Cost Comparison for On-Site Construction and Off-Site Construction of Plant Project)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 플랜트 건설에서 현장시공과 모듈시공에 대한 공사비를 산정하여 비교하는 것으로 공사비를 산정하는 대상을 Pipe Rack으로 한정하였다. 이에, 현장시공으로 준공된 국내 석유화학플랜트 건설사업 1곳을 사례로 선정한 후 비용자료를 조사하여 도출된 결과는 다음과 같다. Pipe Rack의 현장시공에 대한 직접공사비는 560억원으로 Steel Structure 251억원, Piping 308억원이며, 모듈시공에 대한 직접공사비는 607억원으로 Steel Structure 238억원, Piping 297억원으로 산정되었다. 또한, 현장시공과 모듈시공의 증감률을 비교해 보면, 재료비 1.9%, 경비 192.1% 증액되었으나, 노무비는 -9.1% 감액되어, 전체 직접공사비는 8.4%(47억원)가 증액되었다. 그리고 공사원가는 현장시공이 761억원, 모듈시공은 810억원으로 모듈시공이 6.4%(49억원) 증액되는 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 결과는 Pipe Rack을 모듈로 시공하는 경우 공사비가 증감되는 현황을 확인하기 위한 참고자료로 활용이 용이한 반면에, 모듈시공에 따른 간접적인 효과(노무인력 감소, 안전사고 발생 감소, 공사기간 단축 등)에 대한 연구가 필요하다.

  • This paper presents a study on risk analysis in terms of contractor's costs in construction phase in which Crystal ball (software of Decisioneering, UK) has been utilized as a main tool. To realize it, a questionnaire survey has been carried out to identify the dominant factors that strongly influence contractor costs in Vietnam. Based on results of questionnaire investigation, the survey identified three factors which were duration of each construction task, costs of reinforcing steel, and cement. Then a spreadsheet model was created in order to analyze risks. The study also indicates that the cost of reinforcing steel and cement are the cause of risks for contractors. According to the suggested model, contractors may foresee the probability of completion within the approved budget, and the possibility of earning in accordance with owner's payment conditions.

  • The business market of architecture has got a system that controls a deposit according to the price function. This system is written on a law of contract about countries. So the main body of construction has to make a reasonable contract. This study is written about a rate of numerical index on controling a deposit. We tried to fine problems and solutions of labor expenses, instrument costs and material costs which is so big and changable on the construction market Labor expenses are expressed according to the rate of construction scale between direct and indirect cost that applies ability of works. Instrument costs are expressed according to an output method of a unit price annually and a weight allowance of local instrument conditions and use frequence. The last material costs expressed according to a local weight allowance make a decision of the material cost index. They applies locally relative index more than absolute one on what uses the price rate of producers and importations. This solutions are not enough to apply to the real market, so it needs to exam and to be on the market after a feasibility study.

  • Modular construction is attracting attention as the solution of recent problems in construction site. Such as lack of construction workforce, increasing labor costs, work delay due to extreme weather events and strengthening government regulations. However, despite the many advantages, Modular construction has not been activated dueto high construction costs compared to other construction methods. Accordingly, the object of this study is priority derivation of prefabricated house cost reduction factors and use as basic research data. For research performance, we have analyzed the blueprint and bill of quantities of a modular construction based public dormitory which was built in 2013. In result, the proportion of modular construction and on-site construction is 66% and 34%, and the construction cost proportion by activity was devided in to construction(79%), machinery(7%), electricity(5%) and civil(9%). Among these results in order to reduce costs, interior finishing(19.4) steel-frame(16.9%), metal works(13.5%), RC(11.8%), joinery(7.3%) is the order requires focused management.

  • The domestic construction industry is becoming larger, high-rise and specialized. However, safety consciousness is still staying in low levels and falling accidents are apt to rise compared to other industries. So, the new way of safety management is required for reducing of the construction falling accidents. In this paper, we evaluate appropriateness of safety management on construction sites utilizing USN using smart safery equipment. Thus, we calculate loss costs of falling accidents considering accident rates and costs of the USN using smart safery equipment installation then compare both calculated costs. This research aims to propose the method for reduction of construction accidents in addition to conventional safety control methods by analyzing the propriety of applying USN using smart safery equipment on construction sites.

  • This study presents the results of an economic analysis for a comparison of the single layer and double layer alternatives with respect to a HLW-repository. According to a cost analysis undertaken in the Korean case, the single layer option was the most economical alternative. The disposal unit cost was estimated to be 222 EUR/kgU. In order to estimate such a disposal cost, an estimation process was sought after the cost objects, cost drivers and economic indicators were taken into consideration. The disposal cost of spent fuel differs greatly from general product costs in the cost structure. Product costs consist of direct material costs and direct labor and manufacturing overhead costs, whereas the disposal cost is comprised of construction costs, operating costs and closure costs. In addition, the closure cost is required after a certain period of time elapses following the building of a repository.

장수명주택에 적합한 지하주차장 PC구조시스템의 경제성분석에 관한 연구 (Economic Evaluation of Underground Parking Lot PC Structural System that is Suitable for Long-Life Housing)

  • Precast Concrete (PC) construction method can be the one that is suitable for long-life housing due to its merit in respect of maintenance and durability based on crack-free from mass production with indirect construction cost-saving-effect due to shortening construction period comparing to the conventional construction method, but it has the problem that causes the raise of direction construction costs. So, this study analyzed its economic feasibility of PC method whose maintenance and durability are excellent for underground parking lot of apartment house for accomplishing cost-saving long-life housing by applying the various structural system. In evaluation of unit module structural system, two-way PC system requires 10 to 28% more costs for frame work than RC rigid frames, and, one-way PC system 98~112%. Although it varies depending on the method, the costs are similar to RC rigid frame structure, provided a proper method is adopted. Also, Model 11, which was most economical in the evaluation, was applied to an real parking lot and about 2 to 6% of construction costs was reduced than RC rigid frames. This seems to be because, although PC system has a higher production cost, introduction of P.S (prestress) reduces member depth and, therefore, height, as well as the number of members per unit module.

  • When we have been estimated construction costs, till now, we are used to costs accumulating method of each items based on standard labors rates. But there are some problems of its methods. Our governments are applied to a historical construction costs estimation system fur building construction and civil engineering works from January 2004. The electrical construction works are forecasted that applied to historical construction cost estimation systems. This paper is summarized to roles and systems of quantity surveyor. And we investigated to activities and organizations of its associations.
