The objective of this study was to select a model showing high-levels of interpretability which is high in R-squared value in terms of predicting the yield in the mixed pasture using the factors of fertilization, seeding rate and years after pasture establishment in steps, as well as the climate as a basic factor. The processes of constructing the yield prediction model for the mixed pasture were performed in the sequence of data collection (forage and climatic data), preparation, analysis, and model construction. Through this process, six models were constructed after considering climatic variables, fertilization management, seeding rates, and periods after pasture establishment years in steps, thereafter the optimum model was selected through considering the coincidence of the models to the forage production theories. As a result, Model VI (R squared = 53.8%) including climatic variables, fertilization amount, seeding rates, and periods after pasture establishment was considered as the optimum yield prediction model for mixed pastures in South Korea. The interpretability of independent variables in the model were decreased in the sequence of climatic variables(24.5%), fertilization amount(17.8%), seeding rates(10.7%), and periods after pasture establishment(0.8%). However, it is necessary to investigate the reasons of positive correlation between dry matter yield and days of summer depression (DSD) by considering cultivated locations and using other cumulative temperature related variables instead of DSD. Meanwhile the another research about the optimum levels of fertilization amounts and seeding rates is required using the quadratic term due to the certain value-centered distribution of these two variables.
Crack remediation on the surface of cement mortar using microbiological calcium carbonate ($CaCO_3$) precipitation (MICP) has been investigated as a microbial sealing agent on construction materials. However, MICP research has never acknowledged the antifungal properties of calcite-forming bacteria (CFB). Since fungal colonization on concrete surfaces can trigger biodeterioration processes, fungi on concrete buildings have to be prevented. Therefore, to develop a microbial sealing agent that has antifungal properties to remediate cement cracks without deteriorative fungal colonization, we introduced an antifungal CFB isolated from oceanic islands (Dokdo islands, territory of South Korea, located at the edge of the East Sea in Korea.). The isolation of CFB was done using B4 or urea-$CaCl_2$ media. Furthermore, antifungal assays were done using the pairing culture and disk diffusion methods. Five isolated CFB showed $CaCO_3$ precipitation and antifungal activities against deteriorative fungal strains. Subsequently, five candidate bacteria were identified using 16S rDNA sequence analysis. Crack remediation, fungi growth inhibition, and water permeability reduction of antifungal CFB-treated cement surfaces were tested. All antifungal CFB showed crack remediation abilities, but only three strains (KNUC2100, 2103, and 2106) reduced the water permeability. Furthermore, these three strains showed fungi growth inhibition. This paper is the first application research of CFB that have antifungal activity, for an eco-friendly improvement of construction materials.
In this paper, we propose a method for reconstructing a 3D object (or a set of objects) from a 2D drawing provided by a designer. The input 2D drawing consists of a set of contours that may partially overlap each other or be self-overlapping. Accordingly, the resulting 3D object(s) may occlude each other or be self-occluding. The proposed method is composed of three major steps: 2D contour analysis, 3D skeleton computation, and 3D object construction. Our main contribution is to compute the 3D skeleton from the self-intersecting 2D counterpart. We formulate the 3D skeleton construction problem as a sequence of optimization problems, to shape the skeleton and place it in the 3D space while satisfying C1-continuity and intersection-free conditions. Our method is mainly for a silhouette-based sketching interface for the design of 3D objects including self-intersecting objects.

This study proposes a practical and realistic method to establish an optimal lifetime maintenance strategy for deteriorating bridges by considering the life-cycle performance as well as the life-cycle cost. The proposed method offers a set of optimal tradeoff maintenance scenarios among other conflicting objectives, such as minimizing cost and maximizing performance. A genetic algorithm is used to generate a set of maintenance scenarios that is a multi-objective combinatorial optimization problem related to the and the life-cycle cost and performance as separate objective functions. A computer program, which generates optimal maintenance scenarios, was developed based on the proposed method. The subordinate relation between bridge members has been considered to decide optimal maintenance sequence. The developed program has been used to present a procedure for finding an optimal maintenance scenario for steel-girder bridges on the Korean National Road. Through this bridge maintenance scenario analysis, it is expected that the developed method and program can be effectively used to allow bridge managers an optimal maintenance strategy satisfying various constraints and requirements.
paper presents the results of a three-dimensional study of the natural vibration of laminated composite rectangular plates with various combinations of clamped and free boundaries. The Ritz method was used to obtain the stationary values of the associated Lagrangian, with displacements approximated using mathematicaly complete, characteristic orthogonal polynomials. The correctness of the three-dimensional model was established through a convergence study of the non-dimensional frequencies, followed by a comparison of the analytical findings in the existing literature. The wide scope of additional three-dimensional frequency results explains the influence of a number of geometrical and material parameters for angle-ply and cross-ply laminated plates, namely aspect ratio (${\mathcal{a/b}}$), thickness ratio (${\mathcal{a/h}}$), orthotropy of material, number of plies (${\mathcal{N}}$), fiber orientation angle (${\theta}$), and stacking sequence.

The deteriorated PSC Beam bridge is necessary improved reinforcement method. In the study, it is proposed the box reinforcing method which could make the stiffness of the PSC Beam bridges increase more stably through the secondary composition effect of open type PSC Beam bridge's girder which is converted into the consolidation box type and the half panel is formed between the lower flange of the PSC Beam about the deteriorated PSC Beam bridge suffering the capacity decline. In case the proposed reinforcement method combine with the existed external prestressed method, the close analysis depending on the time is conducted by the construction stage because of searching the effect of reinforcement quantitatively. The reinforcement method of the box type which is proposed an efficiency improvement in objective in application case, by a reinforcement method after proposing the whole and bend sectional reinforcement method, against a each reinforcement method evaluated the upward camber which it follows in secondary composite effect and a member stress characteristics. Also, the structural safety of PSC Beam bridge is evaluated quantitatively by examining of rating factor through load carrying capacity evaluation.
IIt takes a lot of time and needs the workloads to verify the RTL code used in complex system like a nuclear control system which is required high level reliability using simple testbench. UVM has a layered testbench architecture and it is easy to modify the testbench to improve the code coverage. A test vector can be easily constructed in the UVM, since a constrained random test vector can be used even though the construction of testbench using UVM. We showed that the UVM testbench is easier than the verilog testbench for the analysis and improvement of code coverage.
It is still difficult and time consuming to obtain cDNA sequences that contain the entire nucleotide sequence of the corresponding mRNA. A rapid and high efficient cloning method to obtain full-length cDNA segments is thus developed. The cloning procedure described here consists of the construction of oligo(dT)-tailed vector primer using pWR34 plasmid, polyadenylation of mRNA-cDNA heteroduplex using terminal deoxytransferase, and replacement of MRNA strand with DNA by RNase H and DNA polymerase I. The restriction endonuclease analysis shows that the size of inserted-cDNA is in the range of 1.5~4.0 kb long suggesting that most of cloned cDNA are full-length or nearly full-length cDNA. The plasmid-DNA recombinants obtained were 4$\times$$10^5$~$10^{6}$ per $\mu\textrm{g}$ of rat liver poly (A$^+$)mRNA, which is 4 to 10 fold higher cloning efficiency in comparison to the presently used methods for full-length cDNA cloning. The results indicate that the described cloning system is much simpler, less time consuming, and very efficient cloning method to construct a cDNA library.

In this paper, the behaviour of axially loaded partially encased composite columns made with light welded H steel shapes is examined using ABAQUS finite element modelling. The results of the numerical simulations are compared to the response observed in previous experimental studies on that column system. The steel shape of the specimens has transverse links attached to the flanges to improve its local buckling capacity and concrete is poured between the flanges only. The test specimens included 14 stubcolumns with a square cross section ranging from 300 mm to 600 mm in depth. The transverse link spacing varied from 0.5 to 1 times the depth and the width-to-thickness ratio of the flanges ranged from 23 to 35. The numerical model accounted for nonlinear stress-strain behaviour of materials, residual stresses in the steel shape, initial local imperfections of the flanges, and allowed for large rotations in the solution. A Riks displacement controlled strategy was used to carry out the analysis. Plastic analyses on the composite models reproduced accurately the capacity of the specimens, the failure mode, the axial strain at peak load, the transverse stresses in the web, and the axial stresses in the transverse links. The influence of applying a typical construction loading sequence could also be reproduced numerically. A design equation is proposed to determine the axial capacity of this type of column.
We aimed to understand the molecular changes in host cells that accompany infection by the seasonal influenza A H1N1 virus because the initial response rapidly changes owing to the fact that the virus has a robust initial propagation phase. Human epithelial alveolar A549 cells were infected and total RNA was extracted at 30 min, 1 h, 2 h, 4 h, 8 h, 24 h, and 48 h post infection (h.p.i.). The differentially expressed host genes were clustered into two distinct sets of genes as the infection progressed over time. The patterns of expression were significantly different at the early stages of infection. One of the responses showed roles similar to those associated with the enrichment gene sets to known 'gp120 pathway in HIV.' This gene set contains genes known to play roles in preventing the progress of apoptosis, which infected cells undergo as a response to viral infection. The other gene set showed enrichment of 'Drug Metabolism Enzymes (DMEs).' The identification of two distinct gene sets indicates that the virus regulates the cell's mechanisms to create a favorable environment for its stable replication and protection of gene metabolites within 8 h.
