Estimating appropriate construction cost at the design phase is judged with one important issue to the efficient security and the execution of budget. Therefore, in this paper, to build fundamental data of appropriate construction cost for steel box bridges, the existing calculated document such as the quantity, unit price document and detail items etc.. was analyzed and the basic specification of the bridges was investigated. Also, by estimating the relationship between predetermined cost and construction items on the bridges, the paper is intended to produce basic data for the calculation of appropriate construction cost in planning phase. From the result, it was calculated ratio of construction item in the total construction cost and unit cost. And then it was deduced effect factor of construction cost in steel box bridge.

As resource sharing becomes more active and complicated in academic libraries, a better understanding of how librarians-a key stakeholder-view the current level of resource sharing is needed. Using survey method, this study collected data regarding the Perception of 78 librarians with regard to interlibrary loan, document delivery, union catalog construction, shared acquisition, and community building. Overall, the respondents evaluated well-established forms of resource sharing(interlibrary loan, document delivery, and union catalog construction) more positively than less-well developed ones(shared acquisition and community building). Correlation analysis between perception of library/individual characteristics was conducted. Barriers to each of the five areas of resource sharing are also identified in the study.

This study provides a new operation strategy which can guarantee the data consistency of engineering information among the various intelligent information systems. We present the strategies for the operation of bridges engineering information and the construction methodology of integrated database. The two core standard techniques are adopted to construct the integrated database. One of these standards is the Standard for the Exchange of Product Model Data (STEP) for CAD/CAE information and the other is the Extensible Markup Language (XML) for engineering document information. This study can transform a document me into a data type for web-based application modules which assist end-users in searching and retrieval of engineering document data. In addition, relaying algorithm is developed to integrate the two different information, e.g. CAD/CAE information and engineering document information. The pilot application modules for management and maintenance of existing bridge are also developed to show application of the strategy.

To access massive and various HTML documents that are in the web using wireless Internet equipments, another WML document that is equal to the HTML document must be written, In the case Web documents written by HTML are massive, the construction of a WML site with the same information needs much cost of space and time, This paper designs and implements the HTML-XML converter that alleviates such a problem. The HTML-WML converter translates the Web document written by HTML to the WML document for portable wireless equipments, The HTML-XML converter has advantages that it reconstructs WML document dynamically according to portable wireless equipments and processes various image formats such as GIF, JPG, BMP, and so on, The HTML-WML converter can be used as not only a utility of the WML editor but also a real-time converter on wireless Internet.

This study describes the digitalization of technical documents of construction projects using database for storage and XML for exchange format on the web. First, for this purpose, the requirements for effective digitalization are identified. Second, the strategies for using database and XML are presented. These strategies include the way to store and search for the technical documents, to draw up the XML document for some parts of the technical documents, to arrange the components in their proper hierarchy, to manage the graphics and mathematical expressions in database and XML documents. Finally we discussed the validities of the results of this study by partial implementation for structural design sheets which has all the characteristics of technical documents.

In this paper, we designed and implemented Avata construction system using XML(extensible Markup Language) and SVG(Scalable Vector Graphic). The Web character created with Avata(or Web character) construction system are displayed in same (on without damage of image, regardless terminal type and user can modify and change image easily in form that want. Compare with existing Web character system, the Reusability of web character part element Is increased greatly with Avata construction system of this paper. Because SVG is described by text, graphic retrieval is convenient, and applications can use easily SVG document. Also, SVG can create web graphic document dynamically with database because can access easily in all graphic primitives of line, Polygon, text, image etc. As well as web character using study finding, we may develop usable technology to some contents on World Wide Web.

As the information that can collect from the web to local database is increasing, we propose a system that can suggest related local documents when new document arrives. We also propose for constructing an association dictionary using web search engines for similarity calculation. The prototype system is also developed, which is described in detail.
