  • Generated Axial Force (GAF) due to internal friction at Constant Velocity (CV) joints is one of the causes generating vibration problems such as shudder in vehicle. In this study, the GAF measuring tester is developed to precisely measure GAF caused by internal friction in CV joints. As the developed tester can control temperature at joint, driving torque, angle of rotation and joint angles, actual driving conditions such as sudden acceleration can be applied to the machine. GAFs are measured and compared by using different types of grease in tripod housing. Also GAFs are measured for both new and used CV joints to be compared and analyzed. The test result shows the repeatability and consistency of the tester in terms of the different test conditions. By using the developed CV joint tester, friction performance of the joint can be evaluated by proposing the best CV joints as well as greases generating the lowest GAF.

  • The configuration of Brushless DC moter is similar to the permanent magnet Synchronous moter. Power transistors are oftenly used to supply the switching by feedback signals of rotor positioning sensors. Brushless DC moter have been used in Aerospace and Robotics where the electromagnetic noise or the sparking of the commutator contact can not be tolerated and long - lived maintenance - free operation is required. This paper describes the design of the microprocessor - based controller for the Brushless DC moter. The controller is designed to operate for the constant torque generation and variable speed control using sinusoidal PWM inverters and resolvers as rotor positioning sensors.

  • In this study, we tried to investigate the impedance characteristic of human arm in a cooperative task. Human arm was moved in a desired trajectory. The motion was actuated by a 1 degree-of-freedom robot system. As the muscle is mechanically analogous to a spring-damper system, a second-order equation was considered as the model for arm dynamics. In the model, inertia, stiffness and damping factor were considered. The impedance parameter was estimated from the position and torque data obtained from the experiment and based on the "Estimation of Parametric Model".   • To apply induction hardening method to a press die having 3-D free surface, the induction hardening tool moves on a press die above 1~2mm gap with constant velocity. Since the induction hardening process requires its own hardening path for each die, a direct teaching method which generates working path directly guided by operators is more suitable than an offline method using CAD/CAM data.   • In this paper, the new type biped walking robot which is composed of the minimum number or links just for walking and its appropriate gaits are proposed. The proposed new gaits for this robot are four-crossing, crawling, standing and turning gait. In designing the biped robot we propose the Performance Index which means the needed torque per a moving distance and generate foot trajectories by $3^{rd}$ order spline Interpolation. Among those, numerically we find the optimal conditions which minimize the Performance Index. Dynamically stable walking of the biped robot is realized by satisfying the stability condition of ZMP(zero moment point), which is related to maintaining the ZMP within the region of the supporting foot during the s1n91e leg support phase. We determine the region of mass center from the stability condition of ZMP and plan references which track the mass conte. trajectory of constant velocity. Finally we implement the gaits statically tracking the planned trajectories using PD control method.

  • This paper combines the adaption of MRAS with the ability of NN for better modeling of nonlinear systen It presents an MRAS using an NN in the adaption mechanism. The technique is applied to a IPMSM drive. The torque constant and stator resistance variations on the speed and position estimations over a wide speed range has been studied. The NN estimators are able to track the varying parameter of different speeds with consistent performance. The validity of the proposed estimator is confirmed by the operating characteristics controlled by neural networks control.

  • Switched Reluctance Motor(SRM) is rotated by reluctance force generated between rotor pole and stator pole. So SRM must be switched by exciting current according to rotor position. but SRM takes the advantages of high speed driving and very simple structure. The single phase SRM can not be start by itself and torque ripple is generated more than multi-phase SRM. But mechanical structure and driver is simpler than multi-phase SRM. The single phase SRM driver is composed with the absolute encoder and DSP to control exciting section and current, and is supplied by constant voltage. So The paper is intend to measure the speed charactrer of double silent pole type SRM by using the unipolar driving curcuit.

주파수 변화에 의한 유도전동기의 특성 (Characteristics of induction motor by changing the frequency of source)

  • There are several methods of speed control in induction motors. One of which is to change the frequency of source but was not used frequently because of the difficulty of frequency-change. Then, the development of frequency changer using semiconductor enables the method useful. In this paper the speed characteristics of mechanical output, secondary input torque and secondary power factor are described when the frequency of source and voltage which is proportional to the frequency of source in order to make the flux in the air gap in constant, are changed. The above characteristics are searched on the basis of the rated characteristics of the motor. Because the ratio of these is proportional to that of the secondary current or the square value of it. To get the ratio of the secondary current, a current circle diagram is introduced, and the magnitude of the ratio from this diagram is accurate and simple. Experimental results are in good agreement with theoretical predictions.

신규 익형 KA2가 적용된 풍력 블레이드의 공력 하중에 대한 동특성 해석 (Analysis of the Dynamic Characteristics on Aerodynamic Loads of Wind Turbine Blade with New Airfoil KA2)

  • This paper proposes a novel airfoil named "KA2" for the blade of the wind turbine systems. Dynamic loads characteristics are analyzed and compared using aerodynamic data of ten airfoils including the proposed airfoil. The blade is divided into the sixteen elements in the longitudinal direction of the blade for applying the Blade Element Method Theory (BEMT) method, and in each element, torque, thrust, and pitching moment are calculated using turbulent time varying wind speed and aerodynamic data of each wing. Additionally, each force and torque is accumulated in the whole region of the blade for the estimation of representative values. The magnitude of such forces is comparatively analyzed for different airfoils. The angle of attack is constant below the rated wind speed due to the fact that the tip speed ratio is kept at the constant value, and it increases in the region of over rated wind speed as the tip speed ratio decreasing with constant rated rpm and increasing wind speed. Such increase in the angle of attack causes the changes of the force acting on the airfoil with different characteristics of lift and drag in the stall region of each different airfoil. Even though the mean wind speed is in the rated speed in a given time, because of the turbulence, it has either the over rated or under rated speed most of the time. Furthermore, the dynamic properties of each force are analyzed in this rated wind speed in order to objectively understand the dynamic properties of the blades which are designed based on the different airfoils. These dynamic properties are also compared by the standard deviation of time varying characteristics. Moreover, the output characteristics of the wind turbine are investigated with different airfoils and wind speeds. Based on these investigations, it was revealed that the proposed airfoil (KA2) is well applicable to the blade with passive pitch control system.

  • In this paper, an electric vehicle drives with efficient control and low cost hardware using four quadrant DC converter with Permanent Magnet Direct Current (PMDC) motor fed by DC boost converter is presented. The main idea of this work is to improve the energy efficiency of the conversion chain of an electric vehicle by inserting a boost converter between the battery and the four quadrant-DC motor chopper assembly. Consequently, this method makes it possible to maintain the amplification gain of the 4 quadrant chopper constant regardless of the battery voltage drop and even in the presence of a fault in the battery. One of the most important control problems is control under heavy uncertainty conditions. The higher order sliding mode control technique is introduced for the adjustment of DC bus voltage and mechanical motor speed. To implement the proposed approach in the automotive field, experimental tests were carried out. The performances obtained show the usefulness of this system for a better energy management of an electric vehicle and an ideal control under different operating conditions and constraints, mostly at nominal operation, in the presence of a load torque, when reversing the direction of rotation of the motor speed and even in case of battery chamber failure. The whole system has been tested experimentally and its performance has been analyzed.
