  • The rubber seal is a part inserted into servo cylinder to keep the air pressure constant. In order for efficient movements of the servo cylinder, the frictional coefficient of the rubber seal needs to be minimized while the sealing is maintained. In this work the friction characteristics of rubber seal specimen are tested on metal plate at various conditions. The experimental conditions include roughness level, applied pressure, lubrication, and rubbing speed. The design of experiment approach is taken to assess the effect of each parameter. The nonlinear frictional response of the rubber is applied to the FEM model simulating the servo cylinder movement. The result demonstrates that precise optimization of the servo cylinder movement must be preceded by preliminary experiments coupled with the theory and FEM model.

  • Experimental data are reported on the phase equilibrium of propoxylated neopentyl glycol diacrylate in supercritical carbon dioxide. Phase equilibria data were measured in static method at a temperature of (313.2, 333.2, 353.2, 373.2 and 393.2) K and at pressures up to 27.82 MPa. At a constant pressure, the solubility of propoxylated neopentyl glycol diacrylate for the (carbon dioxide + propoxylated neopentyl glycol diacrylate) system increases as temperature increases. The (carbon dioxide + propoxylated neopentyl glycol diacrylate) system exhibits type-I phase behavior. The experimental result for the (carbon dioxide + propoxylated neopentyl glycol diacrylate) system is correlated with Peng-Robinson equation of state using mixing rule. The critical property of propoxylated neopentyl glycol diacrylate is predicted with Joback and Lyderson method.

  • In this study, testing equipment with which several kinds of valves can be tested was composed. Two kinds of tilting check valves and a swing check valve were tested to analyze their dynamic characteristics. The results of the experiment showed that the tilting check valves protected the pump but that the swing check valve could not protect the pump when the reverse flow rate was high. Also the dynamic equation of the tilting check valve was formulated and simulated using system characteristic constant t$_{c}$ and one method of predicting t$_{c}$ by comparing the results of the simulation with the results of the experiment was proposed.sed.

  • A constant flow-rate control valve provides effective distributions and controls of running water in a pipe system. The noise characteristics were measured to reveal the noise sources depending on pressure differences across a valve. Valve noise is mostly dominated by bubble dynamics under cavitating conditions. In this study, the sound powers from a flow control valve of constant flow rates are effectively normalized. Flow-excited dynamic systems for which there is no strong coupling between the flow and the system response can be described using a linear source-filter model. On this assumption, the normalized sound powers can be decomposed of noise source function and a response function. The source spectra in, terms of cavitation frequency show cavitation events occurring at narrow banded frequencies greater than 10 kHz. There also possibly exist two kinds of cavitating modes based on our experimental data.

  • Polishing work for a curved surface die demands simple and repetitive operations and requires much time while it also demands high precision. Therefore it is operated by skilled worker in handiwork. Howener workers avoid polishing work gradually because of the poor environments such as dust and noise. In order to reduce the polishing time and to alleviate the problem of shortage of skilled workers, researches for automation of polishing have been pursued in the developed countries. In the research, a polishing robot with 2 degrees of freedom motion attached to machining center with 3 degrees of freedom and pneumatic system forms an automatic polishing system which keeps the polishing tool vertically on the surface of die and maintains constant pneumatic pressure. A synchronization between machining center and polishing robot is accomplished by using M code of machining center. A rulled surface and shadow mask are polished by the developed polishing robot.

  • A novel technique for fine particle beam focusing under the atmospheric pressure is introduced using a radiation pressure assisted aerodynamic lens. To introduce the radiation pressure in the aerodynamic focusing system, a 25m plano-convex lens having 2.5mm hole at its center is used as an orifice. The particle beam width is measured for various laser power, particle size, and flow velocity. In addition, the effect of the laser characteristics on the beam focusing is evaluated comparing an optical tweezers type and pure gradient force type. For the pure aerodynamic focusing system, the particle beam width was decreased as increasing particle size and Reynolds number. Using the optical tweezers type, the particle beam width becomes smaller than that of the pure aerodynamic focusing system about $16\%,\;11.4\%\;and\;9.6\%$ for PSL particle size of $2.5{\mu}m,\;1.0{\mu}m,\;and\;0.5{\mu}m$, respectively. Particle beam width was minimized around the laser power of 0.2W. However, as increasing the laser power higher than 0.4W, the particle beam width was increased a little and it approached almost a constant value which is still smaller than that of the pure aerodynamic focusing system. For pure gradient force type, the reduction of the particle beam width was smaller than optical tweezers type but proportional to laser power. The radiation pressure effect on the particle beam width is intensified as Reynolds number decreases or particle size increases relatively.

  • The fuel pressure regulator mounted on CNG vehicles is used to maintain a constant pressure in the fuel injection system. It needs precise fuel pressure control to obtain benefits of high efficiency and low emissions in CNG vehicles. In this study, a high pressure test rig for the performance evaluation of CNG regulators was introduced. Two different CNG regulators were tested and compared each other at various test conditions. Results showed that dynamic response and creep characteristics are directly effected by the valve assembly design. Gas temperature was dramatically dropped at hish supply pressure conditions, so that effective design for coolant bowl is needed to prevent icing problem.

  • In this study, we made the system to measure variation of blood flow using bio-electrical impedance analysis method. The system, which could measure variation of impedance according to pressure change by artificial pressure, consists of pressure measurement and impedance measurement by 4-electrode method. Pressure measurement splits into semiconducting pressure sensor and electronic circuit for processing output signal. In addition, impedance measurement splits into constant current source circuit and lock-in amplifier for detection impedance signal. We experimented feature of impedance measurement using standard resistance to evaluate the system characteristic. As well as, we experimented to estimate variation of blood flow by measuring impedance and blood flow resistance ratio using mean arterial pressure and variation of blood flow with experimental group. As result of this study, blood flow resistance ratio and variation of blood flow were definitely in inverse proportion and were -0.96776 as correlation coefficient by correlation analysis.

  • Carbon dioxide($CO_2$, R-744) has become a very popular issue in application to refrigeration and air conditioning systems as a natural refrigerant. An experimental study has been carried out to investigate the vapor pressure and miscibility of refrigerant R-744 in the presence of lubricant oil. This is of particular interest in the selection of the lubricant oil for the compressor of a refrigeration system or an air conditioning system using the refrigerant R-744. This apparatus consists of the test section, measuring devices, the vacuum pump, the constant temperature bath and relevant connecting pipes made of stainless steel. Two lubricant oils, such as mineral oil(Naphthenic) and polyol ester(POE) oil, are considered in the present study. For this purpose, test runs were conducted with the oil concentration range from 5 to 50 wt%, and the temperature range from -10 to $10^{\circ}C$ with $2^{\circ}C$ intervals. The results are correlated with the vapor pressure. and showed with the miscibility as visualization for the individual text components.
