  • A constant hanger is a device for supporting pipes in plants. It supplies a constant force to a supporting pipe even if the pipe moves because of thermal expansion. In this paper, we propose a method for designing the contour of a cam for a constant hanger. It has been shown that the contour of a cam must satisfy the geometrical relation of the cam, the force balance equation for the load tube, the relation between the side spring compression and the cam rotation angle, and the moment balance equation for the cam. A calculation procedure to solve these equations simultaneously is proposed, and a constant hanger is designed successfully.

  • When a truck cab is conveyed at a constant speed by a hanger and immersed into the painting reservoir, it may fall off from the hanger by buoyancy. In order to reduce the buoyancy, on the bottom of a cab panel are holes placed, which allow paint to flow into the inside of a cab. In this study, a differential equation is derived which can be solved numerically by using 4th-Order Runge-Kutta method to calculate transient behavior of the buoyant force with sizes and locations of the holes given. The solution is utilized to optimally determine sizes and locations of the holes.

  • In this thesis, As electric railway vehicle's speed becomes faster and faster and functional, the conditions of operation (or running condition) of the vehicle also become complicated and diverse. As the number of electric vehicle increases by enhancement of the running condition, problems are also raised in circulation current, vibration and unstable contact caused by equipment(sporting part for making horizontal between Trolley wire and Messenger wire) and troubles in Ark by un secure contact. This articles shows a method to prevent or to have least problem of vibration, and unstable contact by having constant height of Trolley wire through adjusting the length of Hanger.

  • One of the domestic co-generation plants have undergone excessive vibration problems of turbine attributed to external force for years. The root cause of turbine vibration may be shan alignment problem which sometimes is changed by thermal expansion and external farce, even if turbine technicians perfectly performed it. To evaluate the alignment condition from plant start-up to full load, a strain measurement of turbine and main steam piping subjected to thermal loading is monitored by using strain gages. The strain gages are bonded on both bearing housing adjusting bolts and pipe stoppers which. installed in the x-direction of left-side main steam piping near the turbine inlet in order to monitor closely the effect of turbine under thermal deformation of turbine casing and main steam piping during plant full load. Also in situ load of constant support hangers in main steam piping system is measured by strain gages and its results are used to rebalance the hanger rod load. Consequently, the experimental stress analysis by using strain gages turns out to be very useful tool to diagnose the trouble and failures of not only to stationary components but to rotating machinery in power plants.

  • In the plants operated under high temperature condition, piping system load analysis is often performed to prevent accidents caused by thermal deformation and also to locate inspection prioritity points of the piping system. In this study, piping system stress analysis was performed for a pipe system between the reactors in a process plant. The piping system includes typically installed hangers and expansion joints. In order to evaluate the effects of structural components such as hangers and expansion joints, the case for the expansion joint or the hanger under abnormal operation is considered. By comparison anlaysis results of piping system during normal operation and abnormal operation, the role of each pipe components are studied.

  • This study is a technology related to a seismic protection device for a fire pipe for installation in a building such as an apartment or a building. The fire pipe is fixed to the base panel by fastening bolts so as to flow left and right. The present invention relates to an earthquake-resistant apparatus for a fire-extinguishing piping, which is capable of minimizing damages caused by an earthquake in order to prevent damages and breakage of a fire-extinguishing pipe by mitigating earthquakes, vibrations, It is connected to an insert plate embedded in concrete or ceiling hanger bolts formed at regular intervals on the ceiling to keep the piping constant from the ceiling and to keep the horizontal condition of the piping always constant so that the piping relaxes or sags And to effectively prevent damage to the piping. • To improve the seismic performance of suspended ceiling structures, various vibration-damping devices have been developed. However, the devices made of metals have a limit in that they cause large deformation and seriously damages the exterior of the suspended ceiling structure from the wall. As a results, their strengthening effect of the suspended ceiling structure was minimal. Thus, this study employed a spring and vibration-proof rubber effectively controlled vibrations without increasing horizontal seismic loads on the ceiling to enhance the seismic resistance of suspended ceiling structures. The objective of the study is to examine the dynamic properties of a seismic damping-isolation unit (SDI) with various details developed. The developed SDI was composed of a spring, embossed rubbers, and prestressed bolts, which were the main factors enhancing the damping effect. The shaking table tests were performed on eight SDI specimens produced with the number of layers of embossed rubber (ns), presence or absence of a spring, prestressed force magnitude introduced in bolts (fps), and mass weight (Wm) as the main parameters. To identify the enhancement effect of the SDI, the dynamic properties of the control specimen with a conventional hanger bolt were compared to those of the SDI specimens. The SDI specimens were effective in reducing the maximum acceleration (Ac max), acceleration amplification factor (αp), relative displacement (δR), and increasing the damping ratio (ξ) when compared to the control specimen. The Ac max, αp, and δR of the SDI specimens with two rubbers, spring, and fps of 0.1fby, where fby is the yielding strength of the screw bolt were 57.8%, 58.0%, and 61.9% lower than those of the conventional hanger bolt specimens, respectively, resulting in the highest ξ (=0.127). In addition, the αp of the SDI specimens was 50.8% lower than those specified in ASCE 7 and FEMA 356. Consequently, to accurately estimate the αp of the SDI specimens, a simple model was proposed based on the functions of fps, stiffness constant of the spring (K), Wm, and ns.
