고소득층 소비자의 쇼핑성향과 의류상품구매행동 특성 - 서울 강남지역 여성들을 중심으로 - (A Study on the Shopping Attitude and the Apparel Purchase Behavior of Korean High-Income Consumers)

  • The Purpose of this study were to find out general characteristics of apparel purchase behavior of high-income consumers, and to segment the high-income consumers according to their shopping attitude. One hundred and ninety-five high-income consumers living in Kang-nam area of Seoul were surveyed. and the following results were found : 1) high-income consumers were less conscious of 'price'. and more conscious of'prestige'and'design'compared to the ordinary consumers. (2) and prefer information they gain during store shopping to mass communication information. (3) High-income consumers were more agreed on 'price-conscious shopping attitude' than 'conspicuous' & 'hedonic shopping attitude'. (4) According to shopping attitude, high-income consumers were divided into two different segments. 'conspicuous&hedonic group' and 'reasonable shopping group', and their age, income, and purchase behavior factors were significantly different from each other.

생활주기(life cycle)에 따른 소비성향 및 주거관련 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Propensity to Consume and Housing Characteristics According to Life Cycle)

  • This study aims to identify the propensity to consume and housing characteristics according to life cycle as the main independent variable. It also tries to understand the consumption power and housing style of each cycle and analyze whether there are differences between each life cycle, ultimately aiming to match the propensity to consume and housing style with each cycle. For empirical analysis, on and off-line surveys of 488 people were collected and analyzed by cross analysis, factor analysis and analysis of variance. The prime research findings are as follows: First of all, factor analysis on propensity to consume showed four main sub-factors as rational consumption, conspicuous consumption, trend consumption, and status consumption. Secondly, current and preferred housing styles ranked from modern, natural, casual, classic and romantic, which proved that people are currently housed in preferred housing styles. Thirdly, in case of housing-related characteristics of life cycles, the size of the house increased as the levels progressed, and then decreased at level 6 when the children grew into adulthood. The majority of the population was paying a monthly rent, a few were leasing, and a very few owned their housing. 58% were living in apartments, but in levels 1-2, more were living in row houses and high-rise residential buildings, while in level 6 it was detached houses. Fourthly, the propensity to consume according to life cycle tended to shift from conspicuous and trend-based consumption to rational consumption as the cycles progressed. Fifthly, the preferred housing styles were modern and natural styles, regardless of life cycle. These study results can be applied to product development and marketing activities based on their accurate analysis of customers' needs, which can thus bring further customer satisfaction.

글로벌 소비자의 패션 라이프스타일 변화에 대한 종적연구 - 미국, 중국, EU 소비자를 대상으로 - (A Longitudinal study on Fashion Lifestyle Variable of Global Consumer - Comparison among US, China and EU -)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the fashion lifestyle variable of global consumers and to compare among US, Chinese and EU consumers. The data were collected in US(n=749), China(n=702) and EU(n=1083) from 2008 to 2010. For analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, K-means cluster analysis and chi-square analysis of SPSS 18.0 are used. The research results are as follow: First, it is shown that significant lifestyle factors of global fashion consumers are "adventure seeking", "fashion-oriented", "conspicuous consumption", "leadership", "brand-oriented", and "DIY". As a result of the cluster analysis of lifestyle types, four cross-national market segments are identified. These segments can be labeled as follows: "conservative fashion-oriented group", "passive consumer group", "neutral consumer group", "active fashion-oriented group". Second, findings also reveal that fashion lifestyle segments had meaningful differences between nationality and by year. Third, the US consumers tended to have conservative fashion-oriented lifestyle in 2008, however global consumers were changed to have active fashion lifestyle in 2010. This research will be useful to global brands in planning marketing strategies by offering specific information for global consumer fashion lifestyle.

모피의류의 편익과 위험 지각이 구매의도에 미치는 영향과 소비자 감정의 다중 매개효과 (Effects of Benefits and Risk Perception on Purchase Intention for Fur Apparel: A Multiple Mediation Model of Consumer Emotions)

  • Fur apparel is a representative luxury item that displays wealth and social status; however, it is also recognized as an unethical product criticized for its animal maltreatment in the production process. Understanding consumer responses to an ambivalent object, such as fur apparel, is an important research topic both academically and practically. This study investigates the hierarchical effects of perceived benefits and risks of fur apparel on consumers' emotions and purchase intention by applying the ABC model of attitudes to identify the mediating effects of consumer emotions. An online survey was conducted on 390 female consumers that verified hypotheses through structural equation modeling and bootstrapping analysis using phantom variables. The initial results of the survey showed that the relationship between perceived conspicuous benefits and purchase intention towards fur apparel was partially mediated by positive emotion. Second, the relationship between perceived epistemic benefits and purchase intention was completely mediated by positive emotion. Third, the relationship between perceived ethical risk and purchase intention was completely mediated by positive and negative emotions. Fourth, perceived social risk did not affect the purchase intention of fur apparel significantly. The results support that cognitive beliefs about the subject have a significant positive effect on behavioral intentions through emotions as suggested in the ABC model of the attitude. This study provides an in-depth understanding of consumer responses to ambivalent objects by revealing the individual mediating effects of consumers' positive and negative emotions.

사회적 배제가 소비자 반응에 미치는 효과 : 체화된 인지의 조절효과를 중심으로 (The Impact of Social Exclusion on Consumer Response : The Moderating Effect of Embodied Cognition)

  • 오늘날 우리 사회는 거절과 무시라는 사회적 배제(social exclusion) 경험의 증가로 인해 공격 행동, 자기 자멸적행동, 인지 능력의 저하와 같은 많은 사회적 문제가 발생하고 있다. 본 연구는 사회적 배제의 유형인 무시와 거절이 각각 과시적 소비와 친사회적 행동에 미치는 효과를 검증하고 근육 강화에 의한 체화된 인지가 그 효과를 어떻게 조절하는지 규명하고자 수행되었다. 이를 위해 무시와 거절 조건의 참가자에게 악력기를 통한 근육 강화(firmed muscle)로 체화된 인지를 형성시킨 후 과시적 소비(conspicuous consumption) 성향과 친사회적 행동(prosocial behavior) 의도를 측정하였다. 분석 결과, 무시 조건의 경우 악력기를 통한 근육강화 집단이 근육비강화 집단 (통제 집단)에 비해 더 낮은 과시적 소비 경향과 더 높은 친사회적 행동 의도를 보였으나, 거절 조건의 경우 근육강화 집단과 근육비강화 집단 간의 유의미한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 이는 사회적 배제 경험 중 무시의 경우, 체화된 인지를 통해 효능감의 동기를 높이면 친사회적 행동과 같은 긍정적인 행동을 유도할 수 있음을 시사한다.

A Recommender System Model Using a Neural Network Based on the Self-Product Image Congruence

  • This study predicts consumer preference for social clothing at work, excluding uniforms using the self-product congruence theory that also establishes a model to predict the preference for recommended products that match the consumer's own image. A total of 490 Korean male office workers participated in this study. Participants' self-image and the product images of 20 apparel items were measured using nine adjective semantic scales (namely elegant, stable, sincere, refined, intense, luxury, bold, conspicuous, and polite). A model was then constructed to predict the consumer preferences using a neural network with Python and TensorFlow. The resulting Predict Preference Model using Product Image (PPMPI) was trained using product image and the preference of each product. Current research confirms that product preference can be predicted by the self-image instead of by entering the product image. The prediction accuracy rate of the PPMPI was over 80%. We used 490 items of test data consisting of self-images to predict the consumer preferences for using the PPMPI. The test of the PPMPI showed that the prediction rate differed depending on product attributes. The prediction rate of work apparel with normative images was over 70% and higher than for other forms of apparel.

소비자 성향과 패션브랜드 스토리에 나타난 역사길이와 정통성 계승이 브랜드 역사성 인지와 브랜드 태도에 미치는 영향 (The Effects in Brand Attitude and Brand Historicity Perception on History Length and Brand Legitimacy Succession in Fashion Brand Stories and Consumer Orientation)

  • This study identified the effects of history length and brand legitimacy succession on Brand Historicity (BH) in Fashion Brand Stories and Brand Attitude (BA) with Consumer Orientation (CO). The study conducted an experiment where participants were surveyed after reading a manipulated brand story composed of 2 kinds of brand historicity, brand establishment year (150 years, 70 years, and 20 years) and legitimacy succession (legitimacy succession and legitimacy handover). The results are as follow. First, the sub-dimensions of Brand Historicity appeared to be brand uniqueness, traditionality, symbolism, and managerial traits. Second, brand legitimacy succession types influenced the perceptions of BH with CO. Third, brand legitimacy succession types influenced the perceptions of BA1 (rational brand attitude) and BH1 (brand uniqueness), BH2 (brand traditionality) with CO, which were BA's sub-dimension. Forth, the consumer orientations that influenced BH and BA appeared to be nostalgia orientation, conspicuous consumption orientation, and fashion orientation; however, uniqueness pursuit orientations influenced only BH.

텍스트마이닝을 활용한 아동, 청소년 대상 소비관련 연구 키워드 분석 (Keyword Analysis of Research on Consumption of Children and Adolescents Using Text Mining)

  • 본 연구는 텍스트마이닝 기법으로 최근 20년간 아동, 청소년 대상 소비 관련 연구의 주요어를 분석하여 소비 관련 연구의 동향을 파악하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 KCI 등재/등재후보 학술지에 게재된 아동, 청소년의 소비관련 연구 869편의 주요어를 분석하였다. 빈도분석 결과 가장 빈도가 높은 주요어는 청소년, 청소년소비자, 소비자교육, 과시소비, 소비행동, 캐릭터, 경제교육, 윤리적소비 순으로 나타났다. 5년 단위로 주요어의 빈도를 분석한 결과, 2006년~2010년에는 소비자교육의 빈도가 월등하게 높아 이 시기에 소비자교육에 관한 연구가 많이 이루어졌음을 확인할 수 있었다. 2011년 이후 윤리적소비에 관한 연구가 활발해졌으며, 최근 5년 동안은 두드러지는 주요어가 없는 대신 다양한 주제로 연구가 이루어졌음을 알 수 있었다. TF-IDF 기준으로 주요어를 살펴보면 2001년~2005년 사이에는 환경과 인터넷 관련 단어가 주요 키워드였다. 2006년~2010년에는 미디어이용, 광고 교육, 인터넷아이템, 2011년~2015년에는 공정무역, 녹색성장, 녹색소비, 북한이탈청소년, 소셜미디어, 2016~2020년에는 텍스트마이닝, 지속가능발전교육, 메이커교육, 2015개정교육과정이 중요한 용어로 등장하였다. 토픽모델링 결과, 소비자교육, 대중매체/또래문화, 합리적 소비, 한류/문화산업, 소비자역량, 경제교육, 교수학습방법, 친환경/윤리적소비의 8개의 토픽이 도출되었다. 동시 출현 빈도를 활용한 네트워크 분석을 통해 아동, 청소년 관련 소비 연구에서 과시소비와 소비자교육이 중요한 연구주제임을 알 수 있었다.

'소비와 윤리' 교과목 수강 대학생의 윤리적 소비에 대한 인식과 실천행동의 변화 (A Study on Changes in Cognition and Practice of Undergraduate Students After Taking the Course 'Consumption and Ethics')

  • The purpose of this research is to investigate changes in ethical consumption practices after taking an undergraduate course 'Consumption and Ethics'. Through Qualitative & Quantitative research methods, students' pre-course and post-course attitudes were compared to understand changes in behavior. Before taking the course 'Consumption and Ethics', undergraduate participants displayed little regard for ethical consumption, instead displaying primary sensitivity to price and values based on self-centered and conspicuous consumption. After taking the course 'Consumption and Ethics', participants displayed a more altruistic awareness of consumption on society and the environment. In addition, participants displayed a stronger sense of pride as ethical consumer. These emerging values were contrasted with conflicting feelings resulting from the higher prices often associated with ethical products, feelings of regret resulting from ethically-based impulse purchases, and an inability to categorically evaluate the reliability of available information on the ethical products. However, participants demonstrated a willingness to practice ethical consumption and recommend ethical consumption to their friends and neighbors. Overall, participants in the study demonstrated a strong shift to be an ethical consumer as a result of taking the course 'Consumption and Ethics'.

Why Korean Young Women Consumers Buy Luxury Goods? The Influence of Cultural Orientation and Media Use

  • Purpose - This study investigated the relationship among cultural disposition (Chemyeon, Noonchi, Woozzul), media use, and attitude toward luxury goods consumption. Research design, data, and methodology - We analyzed online survey data for 300 Korean Women between 20 and 39 years of age who lived in Seoul, capital of South Korea. We used multiple regression analysis to examine the relative influence of cultural orientation on cognition of luxury goods, Sobel test. to determine mediating effect, and a two-way analysis of variance in IBM SPSS 23.0. Results - The finding suggests that cultural disposition (Chemyeon, Noonchi, conspicuous Woozzul) correlated significantly with perceived self-identity, attitude toward luxury goods. The effects of Chemyeon, Noonchi, and selfish Woozzul on the attitude toward luxury goods was fully mediated by perceived self-identity. However, association between conspicuous Woozzul and attitude toward luxury goods was partially mediated by perceived self-identity. Regarding media effects, the results indicate that there were interaction effects between selfish Woozzul and amount of time spent on TV on attitude toward luxury goods, as well as between selfish Woozzul and amount of time spent on Internet. Conclusions - These findings suggest that luxury goods consumption of Korean young women is consumer behavior that reflects individual cultural disposition and media use.
