The present paper investigates the leaching property of coal fly ash (FA) using distilled water as solvent and its performance of mineral carbonation. The highest leaching efficiency is obtained at 100 min after leaching begins and the overall leaching efficiencies of Ca and Na via five consecutive leachings were calculated to be 25.37% and 7.40%, respectively. In addition, because $Ca(OH)_2$ produced during the leaching reacts with $SiO_2$ which is the major component of FA, the Pozzolanic reaction may occur and thus reduces leaching efficiency. Total carbonation capacity of FA by absorbing $CO_2$ into FA leachates is 6.08 mg $CO_2/g$ FA and the contribution of alkali substances such as Ca, Na, Mg and K to this value is calculated to be 5.19 mg $CO_2/g$ FA. Carbonation efficiencies of Ca and Na based on leachates are 85.62% and 77.70%, respectively. On the other hand, the ratios of Ca and Na in raw FA to participate in carbonation are calculated to be 9.04% and 5.26%, respectively.
Previous research showed that chlorphenesin galactoside (CPN-Gal), a preservative in cosmetics, was safer than CPN against human skin cells [9]. To establish a stable and long-term process for CPN-Gal production, we investigated the repeated-batch process. In this process, β-gal-producing recombinant Escherichia coli cells were immobilized in calcium alginate beads, and CPN was converted to CPN-Gal by the transgalactosylation reaction. The process was conducted in a 300 ml flask, which contained E. coli cell-immobilized alginate beads, 33.8 mM of CPN, and 400 g/l of lactose. The pH and temperature were 7.0 and 40℃, respectively. During the repeated-batch operation, four consecutive batch operations were conducted successfully until 192 hr. The conversion yield of CPN to CPN-Gal was 64% during 192 hr, which was higher than the values in previous reports [3, 13]. Thereafter, however, the conversion yield gradually decreased until the operation was finished at 336 hr. Western blotting of immobilized E. coli cells revealed that β-gal gradually decreased after 192 hr. In addition, alginate beads were cracked when the operation was finished. It is probable that, including this loss of E. coli cells by cracks, deactivation, and product inhibition of E. coli β-gal might lead to a gradual decrease in the production of CPN-Gal after 192 hr. However, as the purification of β-gal is not necessary with β-gal-producing recombinant E. coli cells, β-gal-producing E. coli cells might be a practical and cost-effective approach for enzymatically synthesizing CPN-Gal. It is expected that this process will be extended to long-term production process of CPN-Gal for commercialization.

We conducted the comparative study of the effects of the parent training combined with medication and the medication only on 23 ADHD children with the age from 5 to 11(body 22, girl 1). Mothers of combined treatment group(parent training+medication) attended, the parent training program once a week for 8 consecutive weeks and booster session 1 month later. Children of both groups were assessed twice before and after treatment using the various using scales and TOVA to evaluate the treatment effects. The results of present study showed the greater effectiveness of the medication+parent training over the medication only in reducing the parenting stress of mothers as well as the inattention and behavioral problems of ADHD children. In medication only group while the scores of mother's rating did not change significantly after treatment, those of teacher's rating and TOVA tend to be decreased to normal range. These results suggested that methylphenidate is effective on improving attentional problems of ADHD children, but not on behaviral problems at home. These results mean that parent training is needed for reducing behavioral problems of ADHD children, negative interactions in mother-child relation, and parenting stress as well as maxmizing medication effect.
Fusarium head blight (FHB) is a severe disease problem that affects the quality and yield of barley grain. The evaluation of FHB resistance is difficult because environmental conditions greatly influence FHB infection and development. The objectives of this study were to: 1) establish an efficient screening method for selecting resistant barley to FHB, 2) compare FHB severity between the cut-spike method and pot-plant method for development of mass screening, and 3) estimate FHB resistance for barley germplasms. Barley cultivars and lines were evaluated for reaction to FHB in controlled-greenhouse condition. Spikes were spray-inoculated with a suspension $(5.0\times10^5\;macroconidia\;mL^{-1})$ of Fusarium graminearum SCK-O4 strain, and then kept in a greenhouse at $18-25^{\circ}C$ with $80-100\%$ relative humidity. Inoculation were employed at 3 different heading growth stages (heading date, three days after heading, and five days after heading). The inoculation was performed in 2 consecutive days in order to avoid escapes. The inoculated plants were maintained in the greenhouse at 4 different free moisture periods (1, 3, 5, and 7 days). The percentage of FHB severity was scored from 0 to 9 according to the rate of infected kernels per spike, and three spikes were evaluated per replication with 3 replicates. There were significant differences of FHB severity depending on the different free moisture periods, but not by the inoculation at different heading stages. The optimum evaluation point of FHB severity in the greenhouse condition was on the 7th day under free moisture condition after inoculation at the heading date. Infection level in cut-spike method highly correlated with that in pot-plant method. This suggested that cut-spike method is useful in evaluating of FHB resistance in barley. Six cultivars, such as Jinkwang, Buheung, Atahualpha 92, Chevron-b, Gobernadora-d, and MNBrite-c, were selected as resistant varieties to FHB. Correlation coefficient for the FHB severity evaluated by the pot-plant method between two seasons was 0.794, indicating the stability and accuracy of the screening method.
Background: Mutations in the tyrosine kinase domain of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) are predictive of response to EGFR-targeted therapy in advanced stages of disease. This study aimed to determine the frequency of EGFR mutations in NSCLCs and to correlate their presence with clinical characteristics in multiethnic Malaysian patients. Materials and Methods: In this prospective study, EGFR mutations in exons 18, 19, 20 and 21 in formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded biopsy specimens of consecutive NSCLC patients were asessed by real-time polymerase chain reaction. Results: EGFR mutations were detected in NSCLCs from 55 (36.4%) of a total of 151 patients, being significantly more common in females (62.5%) than in males (17.2%) [odds ratio (OR), 8.00; 95% confidence interval (CI), 3.77-16.98; p<0.001] and in never smokers (62.5%) than in ever smokers (12.7%) (OR, 11.50; 95%CI, 5.08-26.03; p<0.001). Mutations were more common in adenocarcinoma (39.4%) compared to non-adenocarcinoma NSCLCs (15.8%) (p=0.072). The mutation rates in patients of different ethnicities were not significantly different (p=0.08). Never smoking status was the only clinical feature that independently predicted the presence of EGFR mutations (adjusted OR, 5.94; 95%CI, 1.94-18.17; p=0.002). Conclusions: In Malaysian patients with NSCLC, the EGFR mutation rate was similar to that in other Asian populations. EGFR mutations were significantly more common in female patients and in never smokers. Never smoking status was the only independent predictor for the presence of EGFR mutations.
Although correlations between platelets and lung cancer has been recognized, effects on non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) metastasis remain to be determined in detail. In the present study, wound healing assays revealed a role of platelets in NSCLC cell migration. Thus the mean migration rate of lung adenocarcinoma A549 cells was significantly elevated after co-culture with platelets ($81.7{\pm}0.45%$ vs $41.0{\pm}3.50%$, P<0.01). Expression of GAPDH was examined by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction to study the effect of platelets on NSCLC cell proliferation. The result showed that the proliferation of A549 and SPC-A1 cells was not affected. Mouse models were established by transfusing A549 cells and SPC-A1 cells into mice lateral tail veins. We found tumor metastasis nodules in lungs to be increased significantly after co-transfusion with platelets (in A549, $4.33{\pm}0.33$ vs $0.33{\pm}0.33$, P=0.01; in SPC-A1, $2.67{\pm}0.33$ vs $0.00{\pm}0.00$, P=0.01). In addition, consecutive inoperable patients with newly diagnosed NSCLC (TNM stage III or IV) between January 2009 and December 2011 were retrospectively reviewed. Using the Kaplan-Meier method, NSCLC patients with a high platelet counts demonstrated a significantly shorter progression free survival compared with those with a low platelet count (> $200{\times}10^9/L$, 3 months versus ${\leq}200{\times}10^9/L$, 5 months, P=0.001). An elevated platelet count was also identified as an independent prognostic factor by Cox regression analysis for prgression free survival (adjusted hazard ratio: 1.69; 95% CI: 1.16, 2.46; P=0.006). This study suggested that platelets might contribute to the hematogenous metastatic process by promoting cancer cell migration, which eventually affects the prognosis of NSCLC.

Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) are particular soil fungi that benefit many crops and require a symbiosis with plant roots to survive. In our previous study, there was a positive correlation between AMF root colonization and soybean grain yield in a four-year consecutive winter cover crop-soybean rotational system without phosphorus fertilizer. It is suggested that higher AMF root colonization can be a better solution for improving soybean growth and grain yield in P-limited soil. Our purpose in this study was to test the hypothesis that a P application is the main factor improving soybean growth, P nutrition and grain yield, and the benefit from AMF to soybean P uptake and growth in a P-limited soil. Impact of a P application on AMF root colonization and communities in soybean roots and their potential contribution to soybean growth and P nutrition under a five-year P-unfertilized crop rotational system were investigated over two-years. In this study, four cover crop treatments included 1) wheat (Triticum aestivum); 2) red clover (Trifolium pratense); 3) rapeseed (Brassica napus); and 4) fallow in the crop rotation. The amount of triple superphosphate as a P fertilizer applied rate after cultivation of cover crops was 120 and $360k\;ha^{-1}$ in 2014 and 2015, respectively. Soybean roots were sampled at full-flowering and analyzed for AMF communities using polymerase chain reaction-denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (PCR-DGGE) and quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR) techniques. The AMF root colonization in the soybean roots at full bloom stage was significantly influenced by cover crop and P application throughout the two-year rotation. The two-year rotation of different cover crops or fallow impacted the molecular diversity of AMF communities colonizing roots of soybean. Redundancy analysis (RDA) indicated that AMF communities colonizing roots of soybean were significantly different among cover crop rotations. The AMF communities colonizing roots of soybean were clearly influenced by a P application in the two-year trial. Moreover, a P application may have positively impacts on the AMF communities under P-deficit soil due to the continuous cover crop-soybean rotational system without a P fertilizer.

Out of twenty common protein amino acids, there are many kinds of non protein amino acids (NPAAs) that exist as secondary metabolites and exert ecological functions in plants. Mimosine (Mim), one of those NPAAs derived from L. leucocephala acts as an iron chelator and reversely block mammalian cell cycle at G1/S phases. Cysteine (Cys) is decisive for protein and glutathione that acts as an indispensable sulfur grantor for methionine and many other sulfur-containing secondary products. Cys biosynthesis includes consecutive two steps using two enzymes-serine acetyl transferase (SAT) and O-acetylserine (thiol)lyase (OASTL) and appeared in plant cytosol, chloroplast, and mitochondria. In the first step, the acetylation of the ${\beta}$-hydroxyl of L-serine by acetyl-CoA in the existence of SAT and finally, OASTL triggers ${\alpha}$, ${\beta}$-elimination of acetate from OAS and bind $H_2S$ to catalyze the synthesis of Cys. Mimosine synthase, one of the isozymes of the OASTLs, is able to synthesize Mim with 3-hydroxy-4-pyridone (3H4P) instead of $H_2S$ for Cys in the last step. Thus, the aim of this study was to clone and characterize the cytosolic (Cy) OASTL gene from L. leucocephala, express the recombinant OASTL in Escherichia coli, purify it, do enzyme kinetic analysis, perform docking dynamics simulation analysis between the receptor and the ligands and compare its performance between Cys and Mim synthesis. Cy-OASTL was obtained through both directional degenerate primers corresponding to conserved amino acid region among plant Cys synthase family and the purified protein was 34.3KDa. After cleaving the GST-tag, Cy-OASTL was observed to form mimosine with 3H4P and OAS. The optimum Cys and Mim reaction pH and temperature were 7.5 and $40^{\circ}C$, and 8.0 and $35^{\circ}C$ respectively. Michaelis constant (Km) values of OAS from Cys were higher than the OAS from Mim. Inter fragment interaction energy (IFIE) of substrate OAS-Cy-OASTL complex model showed that Lys, Thr81, Thr77 and Gln150 demonstrated higher attraction force for Cys but 3H4P-mimosine synthase-OAS intermediate complex showed that Gly230, Tyr227, Ala231, Gly228 and Gly232 might provide higher attraction energy for the Mim. It may be concluded that Cy-OASTL demonstrates a dual role in biosynthesis both Cys and Mim and extending the knowledge on the biochemical regulatory mechanism of mimosine and cysteine.
Two-step pretreatment process was investigated to efficiently hydrolyzed rape stems for obtaining fermentable sugars. The process was consisted of two consecutive steps as $200^{\circ}C$ and 15 MPa and $374^{\circ}C$ and 24 MPa with the flow rate of 5 mL/min. Under this condition, 5.5 (g/L) of glucose and 25.6 (g/L) of xylose were obtained from rape stems, showing 18% of glucose yield based on 25% cellulose in the rape stems. It was also found that this process could generate less amounts of toxic residues, such as HMF (Hydroxy- Methyl-Furfural) and other fulfural components during hydrolysis process. It could reaction maintain relatively high ethanol production yield as 90% of theoretical conversion yield from glucose. Therefore, this pretreatment process could be applied to hydrolyze other cellulosic and marine resources such as woods, stem and algae for bioethanol production.
Purpose : Four kinds of Haemophilus influenzae type b protein conjugate vaccines, PRPD, PRP-T, PRP-OMP and PRP-CRM197, have been developed, and PRP-T vaccines are currently produced by two manufacturer, $ActHib^{(R)}$ by Aventis and $Hiberix^{TM}$ by GlaxoSmith-Kline Biologicals. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the immunogenicity and safety of $Hiberix^{TM}$ in Korean infants. Methods : Seventy-three healthy infants(43 male infants) were recruited for this study after parental informed consent was obtained. Each infant was vaccinated at 2, 4 and 6 months of age with the study vaccine. At each visit, infants were also immunized with DTaP, trivalent oral polio vaccine and hepatitis B vaccine when indicated. The serum anti-PRP antibody was measured at prevaccination, 2 month later after the 2nd dose, and 1 month later after the 3rd dose by the ELISA method. The local and systemic adverse reactions of vaccination were monitored for 3 consecutive days after each immunization. Immunogenicity of vaccine was evaluated in infants who received all the scheduled immunization and the adverse reactions were evaluated for infants who received at least one dose of the study vaccine. Results : Among seventy three infants, enrolled in this study; sixty three(37 male infants) completed all the scheduled immunizations. The geometric mean titer(GMT) of anti-PRP antibodies at prevaccination was 0.17 ${\mu}g/mL$(95% confidence interval[CI]; 0.13~0.22). The GMT of anti-PRP antibodies increased to 4.14 ${\mu}g/mL$(95% CI; 2.65~6.48) at 2 month later after the 2nd dose of PRP-T and 14.65 ${\mu}g/mL$(95% CI; 10.83~19.81) at 1 month later after the 3rd dose. Anti-PRP antibody ${\geq}0.15$${\mu}g/mL$, was observed in 98.4%(95% CI; 91.8~100) after 2 doses and 100%(95% CI; 100~100) after 3 doses. Anti-PRP antibody ${\geq}1.0$${\mu}g/mL$, was obtained in 77.8%(95% CI; 67.5~88.0) after 2 doses, and 98.4%(95% CI; 95.3~100) after 3 doses. Most of the adverse reaction after vaccination were mild. Irritability, the most common systemic reaction, was observed in 45.5%, followed by drowsiness(30.5%), poor feeding(26.7%) and fever(5.6%). Among the local reactions tenderness was observed in 7.9%, redness(${\geq}5$ mm) in 2.8% and swelling(${\geq}5$ mm) in 1.8%. Conclusion : The PRP-T vaccine used in this study was highly immunogenic and safe in Korean young infants. The finding that high GMT and high frequency of infants with a protective titer achieved after 2 doses is consistent with the previous studies which were done with a PRP-T vaccine of other manufacturer. This study suggests that the immunization schedule of PRP-T vaccine for Korean infants may need re-evaluation.

② 상기 이용제한 규정에 따라 서비스를 이용하는 회원에게 서비스 이용에 대하여 별도 공지 없이 서비스 이용의
일시정지, 이용계약 해지 할 수 있습니다.
제 17 조 (전자우편주소 수집 금지)
회원은 전자우편주소 추출기 등을 이용하여 전자우편주소를 수집 또는 제3자에게 제공할 수 없습니다.
제 6 장 손해배상 및 기타사항
제 18 조 (손해배상)
당 사이트는 무료로 제공되는 서비스와 관련하여 회원에게 어떠한 손해가 발생하더라도 당 사이트가 고의 또는 과실로 인한 손해발생을 제외하고는 이에 대하여 책임을 부담하지 아니합니다.
제 19 조 (관할 법원)
서비스 이용으로 발생한 분쟁에 대해 소송이 제기되는 경우 민사 소송법상의 관할 법원에 제기합니다.

1. (시행일) 이 약관은 2016년 9월 5일부터 적용되며, 종전 약관은 본 약관으로 대체되며, 개정된 약관의 적용일 이전 가입자도 개정된 약관의 적용을 받습니다.
