  • Photon conversion technology for thin film solar cells is reviewed. The high-energy photons which are hardly absorbed in solar cells can be transformed the low energy photon by the photon conversion process such as down conversion or down shift, which can improve the solar cell efficiency over the material limit. CdSe-based quantum dot materials commonly used in LED can be used as the photon conversion layer for Si thin film solar cells. The photon conversion structure of CdSe-based quantum dot for Si thin film solar cells will be presented and the pros and cons for the Si thin film solar cells integrated with the photon conversion layers will be discussed.

  • In this study, we proposed three analysis methods to calculate the flatness of torque-angle sensors (TAS). We introduced two statistical and one geometrical methods in evaluating the precision of the flat plane in the axis direction for TAS. To verified the results, we fabricated TAS and a reference sample using a injection molding machine, mold, polyester as a raw material. We measured ($x_i$, $y_i$) position using 3D contact automated system and applied three analysis methods developed for TAS and a reference sample to see the feasibility. While each analysis method has its own pros and cons, the analysis using the shortest optimal distance was the most precise technique for the flatness evaluation of TAS components.

  • Tuning the architecture of SVM (support vector machine) is to build an SVM model of better performance. Two different tuning methods of the grid search and the GA (genetic algorithm) have been addressed in the literature, each of which has its own methodological pros and cons. This paper suggests a combined method for tuning the architecture of SVM models, which employs the GAM (generalized additive models), the grid search, and the GA in sequence. The GAM is used for selecting input variables, and the grid search and the GA are employed for finding optimal parameter values of the SVM models. Applying the method to a bankruptcy prediction problem, we show that SVM model tuned by the proposed method outperforms other SVM models.

  • Deepening of the nasolabial crease is an esthetically unpleasing aging phenomenon occurring in the midface. Various treatment modalities have been introduced to improve the appearance of prominent nasolabial folds, all of which have pros and cons. Currently, a minimally invasive technique using synthetic dermal fillers is most commonly used. A simple and easy subcision procedure using a wire scalpel has also been used and reported to be effective for prominent nasolabial fold correction, with minimal complications. As an alternative to the wire scalpel, we used a 20-gauge metal type spinal needle cannula (Hakko Co.) and 4-0 Vicryl suture (Ethicon Inc.) for subcision of nasolabial folds. This technique is less expensive than the use of a wire scalpel and easily available when needed. Therefore, on the basis of favorable results, our modified subcision technique may be considered effective for prominent nasolabial fold correction.

  • The primary objective of this paper is to develop an interactive computer graphic aided decision su, pp.rt system for the design of inspection plans for complex production systems. This research first develops a computer simulator, called Simulator for Inspection Systems(SIS), in order to represent the production system as a network model. The simulator elicits fundamental information about the system from the decision maker(DM) in an interactive manner. A decision su, pp.rt system is then proposed by combining SIS and Compromise Programming. The system simulates a set of possible inspection strategies implicitly, observes all the important measurements about the inspection system, and employs the compromise programming a, pp.oach to help the DM determine the best compromising allocation of inspection effort considering his/her preferences. Finally, the performance of the proposed system is evaluated using two test cases. The pros and cons of the system are also discussed.

  • Today ordinary consumers have the option of buying the products/services through Internet commerce, home shopping, or traditional commerce. This study compares the means-ends objective measures comprising the customer satisfaction with each type of commerce. Means objective variables consist of product variety, impulsive buying, comparison shopping, product information, and accuracy of transaction. Ends objective variables include convenience, safety, time saving, cost reduction, and shopping enjoyment. Results of data analysis indicate that ends objective variables are directly related with the behavioral intention of customers, and that each type of commerce has its own pros and cons which in turn provides the basis for differentiated customer satisfaction.

  • This study was conducted to develop a logic of analysis and to analyze the optimum capacity of rice processing complex (RC) which would be used as a basic design data for RPC. For the above objectives, a case study was carried out for Nonsahn County, Chungnam Province. The optimum capacity was analyzed by the simulation of the PPSARR (computer program) according to the collectable amount of rough rice. The significance of that study was the development of a logic for the analysis of optimum capacity of RPC. The results show that the optimum capacities of RPC arc 2 ton/h for the collectable amount of rough rice of up to 3,000 ton, 4 ton/h for up to 9,000 ton, 5 ton/h for up to 12,000 ton, 8 ton/h for up to 15,000 ton, 10 ton/h for above 15,000 ton. The cons of the post-harvest systems including the RPC of optimum capacity are 65.50-93.78 thousand Won/ton and they are more economical than the custom of 106.5 thousand Won/Ton.

  • Terrestrial Laser Scanner and Airborne Laser Scanning is one of the state of art surveying equipments. So This study deals with the combined use of mobile TLS(Terrestrial Laser Scanner) with ALS(Airborne Laser Scanning) to extract shoreline's topography information. These two systems have their own pros and cons. Mobile TLS can capture the facades of a low story building along the shoreline fast and quickly. Meanwhile, Due to viewpoint restrictions of ALS data collection, the amount of detail, which is available for the building facades is very limited. Therefore, it is recommended that the co-registration and geo-referencing methods of both two should be developed and the application of both system for shoreline mapping also should be investigated.

  • A low speed wind tunnel test for the canard airplane model was conducted in KARI LSWT. To measure the required level of accuracy, the image system was applied for all elevator deflection and different canard incidence conditions. By doing so, the difference in aerodynamic characteristics between the forward swept and straight canards can be precisely evaluated, and the pros and cons of both canards arrangements can be discussed. Compared with both canard configurations at the same incidence angle setting, the straight canard has benefits in lift and drag, and the slope of pitching moment increases more moderately than the forward swept canard. The listed data and discussion would be useful to whom wants to design a canard airplane.
