At present, the demand for electric power increases, the electric power system is complicated. The size of the line-to-ground fault and the line-to-line fault occurred with complication of electric power system continue to increase, therefore several issues are raised. To address these issues effectively, the superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) has been proposed, this study is ongoing. In this paper, we applied the SFCL in three-phase transformer and comparative analysis of the electric power burden to the SFCL. The superconductor is combined to the third winding of transformers in connection structure. In case of a third line-to-line fault, we did comparative analysis of the electric power burden to the SFCL based on the turn ratio of transformer third winding. In this case, we could confirm as the third turn ratio increased, electric power impressed to the superconducting element increased.
Most connections for the glulam structural members consisted of connector and fastener. The mechanical behaviour of the connection can be occurred by the dowel bearing resistance and wood shear by the fastener. This study aims at the examination of the shear properties for the small specimen with lamination components and for the full-sized pin connection and the moment resisting property for the double shear full-sized pin connection using structural column and beam members. Small specimens including glue line shows greater density and shear strength by the lamination effect than other specimens. It is needed that estimations of double shear property and moment resistance for the pin connections should be adjusted in some degree. For the better and safe estimation of moment resistance strength for the column-beam pin connection, however, the shear strength of small specimens should be deducted by 10%.

A very widely used analytical method (mathematical model), mentioned in Eurocode 3, to examine the connections' bending behavior is the component-based method that has certain weak points shown in the plastic behavior part of the moment-rotation curves. In the component method available in Eurocode 3, for simplicity, the effect of strain hardening is omitted, and the bending behavior of the connection is modeled with the help of a two-line diagram. To make the component method more efficient and reliable, this research proposed its advanced version, wherein the plastic part of the diagram was developed beyond the guidelines of the mentioned Regulation, implemented to connect the end plate, and verified with the moment-rotation curves found from the laboratory model and the finite element method in ABAQUS. The findings indicated that the advanced component method (the method developed in this research) could predict the plastic part of the moment-rotation curve as well as the conventional component-based method in Eurocode 3. The comparison between the laboratory model and the outputs of the conventional and advanced component methods, as well as the outputs of the finite elements approach using ABAQUS, revealed a different percentage in the ultimate moment for bolt-extended end-plate connections. Specifically, the difference percentages were -31.56%, 2.46%, and 9.84%, respectively. Another aim of this research was to determine the optimal dimensions of the end plate joint to reduce costs without letting the mechanical constraints related to the bending moment and the resulting initial stiffness, are not compromised as well as the safety and integrity of the connection. In this research, the thickness and dimensions of the end plate and the location and diameter of the bolts were the design variables, which were optimized using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Snake Optimization (SO), and Teaching Learning-Based Optimization (TLBO) to minimization the connection cost of the end plate connection. According to the results, the TLBO method yielded better solutions than others, reducing the connection costs from 43.97 to 17.45€ (60.3%), which shows the method's proper efficiency.

A spectral element method(SEM) is introduced for the vibration analysis of a rectangular plate subject to dynamic concentrated loads. First, the spectral plate element is derived from the relations between the forces and displacements along the two opposite edges of plate element. The global spectral matrix equation is then formulated by assembling two spectral plate elements so that the dynamic concentrated load is located at the connection nodal line between two plate elements. the concentrated load is then spatially Fourier transformed in the direction of the connection nodal line to transform the two-dimensional plate problem into a simplified equivalent one-dimensional beam-like problem. We may benefit from these procedures in that the spectral results from the present SEM is compared with the exact analytical solutions to prove the remarkable accuracy of the present SEM, while this is not true for conventional finite element solutions, especially at high frequency.
To understand the connection between active galactic nuclei (AGNs) and star formation, we investigated the relation between AGN bolometric and far-infrared (FIR) luminosities, using type-2 AGNs. By matching type-2 AGNs at z < 0.3 selected from the SDSS based on the emission-line diagnostics, against the AKARI/FIS All-Sky Survey Catalogue and the COSMOS PEP (PACS Evolutionary Probe) Survey Catalogue, we obtained a sample of 729 type-2 AGNs detected in the AKARI survey ($90{\mu}m$) and 17 ones detected in the PEP survey ($100{\mu}m$). For AGN bolometric luminosities, we adopted an estimate based on the [OIII] and [OI] line luminosities. We confirmed that there is a correlation between the AGN bolometric and FIR luminosities with a large scatter, which is consistent with previous studies. However, we claim that this correlation suffers from various artificial effects, e.g., FIR detection limits, survey volumes, and so on. We will discuss the limitations of studying the connection between AGN and star formation using currently available facilities.
Recently, as the height of building is getting higher, the applications of CFST column for high-rise buildings have been increased. In structural system of high-rise building, The RC core and exterior concrete-filled tubular (CFST) column-beam pinned connection is one of the structural systems that support lateral load. If this structural system is used, due to the minimal CFST column thickness compared to that of the CFST column width, the local moment occurred by the eccentric distance between the column flange surface from shear bolts joints degrades the shear strength of the CFST column-beam pinned connections. This study performed a finite element analysis to investigate the shear strength under eccentric moment of the CFST column-beam pinned connections. The column's width and thickness were used as variables for the analysis. To guarantee the reliability of the finite element analysis, an actual-size specimens were fabricated and tested. The yield line theory was used to formulate an shear strength formula for the CFT column-beam pinned connection. the shear strength formula was suggested through comparison on the results of FEM analysis, test and yield lime theory, the shear strength formula was suggested.
The commonly used method to secure the stability of reinforced retaining structure is the reinfocement of backfill with connection attached or unattached to the geogrid type wall. Laboratory model tests for both cartes were conducted to investigate the effectiveness of geogridreinforcement, length of reinforcement inclusion, failure envelop, and the relationships between the face wall displacement and vertical settlement. The bearing capacity of each case was also determined. According to the model test results, geogrid-reinforced rigid wall is very effective for increasing the bearing capacity and reducing the displacement of retaining wall. The observed sliding line of model test is similar to the theoretical one.

This paper describes the overvoltage analysis and reduction methods of insulation joint boxes in underground transmission power cables when direct lightning surge strikes to overhead transmission line. An actual 154kV combined transmission line with underground Power cables was modelled in ATPDraw for simulation. Simulations were performed to analyze the overvoltage between insulation joint boxes, sheath-to-ground voltage according to the distance between cable conductors, cable lengths, burying types, CCPU connection types. The most effective method to reduce the induced overvoltage of Insulation joint boxes was proposed. It is evaluated that the proposed reduction method riven from the detailed simulations can be effectively applied to the actual underground power cable systems.
The connection between the active galactic nuclei (AGNs) and star formation activity is one of the most important issues in understanding the coevolution of supermassive black holes (SMBHs) and galaxies. In our recent study, by using SDSS quasar spectra we found that the emission-line flux rations involving a nitrogen line, i.e., $NV{\lambda}1240$, correlate with the Eddington ratio. This correlation suggests that the mass accretion into SMBH is associated with a post-starburst phase, when AGB stars enrich the interstellar medium with the nitrogen. Moreover, we focused on nitrogen-loud quasars, which have prominent emission lines of the nitrogen, to investigate whether this argument is correct or not. We will present our recent results described above and discuss the relation between the star formation and feeding to SMBHs.

The determination of sound pressure radiated from periodic plate structures is fundamental in the estimation of noise level in aircraft fuselages or ship hull structures. As a robust approach to this problem, here a very general and comprehensive analytical model is developed for predicting the sound radiated by a vibrating plate stiffened by periodically spaced orthogonal symmetrical beams subjected to a sinusoidally time varying point load. In this these, we experiment with the numerical analysis using the space harmonic series and the SYSNOISE for measuring the vibration mode and character of response caused by sound radiation with adding the harmonic point force in the thin isotropic plate supported by the rectangular lattice reinforcement. We used the reinforcements, beams of open type section like the style of 'ㄷ' letter; the space of the beams were chosen to be 0.2m, 0.3m, 0.4m. We studied the behavior of sound pressure levels, analysis of vibration mode between support points, connection between frequency function and sound pressure levels, and connection between position function and sound pressure levels.
