  • In this paper, a new active damping method of LCL filter without capacitor voltage sensors is proposed for 3 phase PWM Inverter. Normally, L filter or LCL filter is used as an output filter of grid connected PWM inverter. An LCL filter has more excellent performance than L filter to reduce harmonic current, so the small inductance value can be used. However, the resonance problem in LCL filter is happen due to the zero impedance by the addition of LC branch. To solve the resonance problem, the various active damping method has been proposed so far. Generally, the virtual resistor active damping methods is required to additional hardware sensors for measurement of capacitor voltage and current. In this paper, the new active damping method is proposed without any capacitor voltage or current sensors. In the proposed method, the resonance component of the capacitor voltage of LCL filter can be observed by a simple MRAS(Model Reference Adaptive System) observer without additional hardware sensors, and this component is suppressed by feedforward compensation. The validity of the proposed method is proven by simulation and experiment on the 3-phase PWM inverter system.

  • In this paper, a novel design for a dual-band negative group delay circuit (NGDC) is proposed. Composite right/left-handed (CRLH) ${\lambda}/4$ short stubs are employed as a dual-band resonator. A CRLH ${\lambda}/4$ short stub is composed of a typical transmission line element as the right-handed component and a high-pass lumped element section as the left-handed component. It is possible to simultaneously obtain open impedances at two separate frequencies by the combination of distinctive phase responses of the right/left-handed components. Negative group delay (NGD) can be obtained at two frequencies by using dual-band characteristics of the CRLH stub. In order to achieve a bandwidth extension, the proposed structure consists of a two-stage dual-band NGDC with different center frequencies connected in a cascade. According to the experiment performed, with wide-band code division multiple access (WCDMA) and worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX), NGDs of $-3.0{\pm}0.4$ ns and $-3.1{\pm}0.5$ ns are obtained at 2.12~2.16 GHz and 3.46~3.54 GHz, respectively.

  • In budding yeast, septin plays as a scaffold to recruits protein components and regulates crucial cellular events including bud site selection, bud morphogenesis, Cdc28 activation pathway, and cytokinesis. Phosphorylation of Bni5 isolated as a suppressor for septin defect is essential to Swe1-dependent regulation of bud morphogenesis and mitotic entry. The mechanism by which Bni5 regulates normal septin function is not completely understood. Here, we provide evidence that Bni5 phosphorylation is important for interaction with septin component Cdc11 and for timely delocalization from septin filament at late mitosis. Phosphorylation-deficient bni5-4A was synthetically lethal with $hof1{\Delta}$. bni5-4A cells had defective structure of septin ring and connected cell morphology, indicative of defects in cytokinesis. Two-hybrid analysis revealed that bni5-4A has a defect in direct interaction with Cdc11 and Cdc12. GFP-tagged bni5-4A was normally localized at mother-bud neck of budded cells before middle of mitosis. In contrast, at large-budded telophase cells, bni5-4A-GFP was defective in localization and disappeared from the neck approximately 2 min earlier than that of wild type, as evidenced by time-lapse analysis. Therefore, earlier delocalization of bni5-4A from septin filament is consistent with phosphorylation-dependent interaction with the septin component. These results suggest that timely de localization of Bni5 by phosphorylation is important for septin function and regulation of cytokinesis.

  • This study analyzes whether the network characteristics lead to differences in innovation performance between inventors, using the case of Samsung Electronics and Hyundai Motor Company which have applied for the most patents in the electronics and automobile industries while showing significant differences in the degree of collaborative invention. The more inventors an inventor is connected with in the network, the higher innovation performance is achieved. While existing literature addressed intra- / interindustry, and intra- / inter- group spillovers at the organizational level, this study extends this discussion to the inventor level. This study newly introduces spillover pools from network components and then constructs spillover pools in three dimensions of the group, the industry, and the network component. The study analyzes the effects of each spillover pool on invention performance of an individual inventor and compares the effects between spillover pools. At the inventor level, the innovative effects of spillover pools were confirmed. The results of this study suggest that the inventor's network characteristics and spillover pools can be used to predict the inventor's innovation performance.

  • It is very difficult to capture the multi-dimensional phenomena such as asymmetric flow and temperature distributions with the one-dimensional (1D) model, obviously, due to its inherent limitation. In order to overcome such a limitation of the 1D representation, many state-of-the-art system codes have equipped a three-dimensional (3D) component for multi-dimensional analysis capability. In this study, a standard multi-dimensional analysis model of APR1400 (Advanced Power Reactor 1400) has been developed using TRACE (TRAC/RELAP Advanced Computational Engine). The entire reactor pressure vessel (RPV) of APR1400 has been modeled using a single 3D component. The fuels in the reactor core have been described with detailed and coarse representations, respectively, to figure out the impact of the fuel description. Using both 3D RPV models, a comparative analysis has been performed postulating a double-ended guillotine break at a cold leg. Based on the results of comparative analysis, it is revealed that both models show no significant difference in general plant behavior and the model with coarse fuel model could be used for faster transient analysis without reactor kinetics coupling. The analysis indicates that the asymmetric temperature and flow distributions are captured during the transient, and such nonuniform distributions contribute to asymmetric quenching behaviors during blowdown and reflood phases. Such asymmetries are directly connected to the figure of merits in the LBLOCA analysis. Therefore, it is recommended to employ a multi-dimensional RPV model with a detailed fuel description for a realistic safety analysis with the consideration of the spatial configuration of the reactor core.

  • In this paper, we proposed the algorithm for locating destination address block (DAB) from automatic system to classify packages. For locating DAB, because the size of obtained images is are very large, we select the region of interesting (ROI) to reduce time carrying into algorithm. After selecting the ROI, proposed algorithm is carried out within the ROI. We extract the outline of the handwriting part of the DAB and the rest components within the obtained ROI using thresholding. We carry out labeling to extract each connected component for extracted outline and the rest components. We extract the outline of the handwriting part of the DAB using the geometrical characteristic of the outline of the handwriting part of the DAB among many connected components. The last, we extract the locating DAB using the outline of the handwriting part of the DAB.

  • Coupling capacitor voltage transformers(CCVTs) have been used in extra or ultra high voltage systems to obtain the standard low voltage signal for protection and measurement. For fast suppression of the phenomenon of ferroresonance, three winding CCVTs are used instead of two winding CCVTs. A tuning reactor is connected between a capacitor voltage divider and a voltage transformer to reduce the phase angle difference between the primary and secondary voltages in the steady state. Slight distortion of the secondary voltage is generated when no fault occurs. However, when a fault occurs, the secondary voltage of the CCVT has significant errors due to the transient components such as dc offset component and/or high frequency components resulting from the fault. This paper proposes an algorithm for compensating the secondary voltage of a three winding CCVT in the time domain. With the values of the measured secondary voltage of the three winding CCVT, the secondary, tertiary and primary currents and voltages are estimated; then the voltages across the capacitor and the tuning reactor are calculated and then added to the measured voltage. Test results indicate that the algorithm can successfully compensate the distorted secondary voltage of the three winding CCVT irrespective of the fault distance, the fault impedance and the fault inception angle as well as in the steady state.

  • A coupling capacitor voltage transformer(CCVT) is used in an extra or ultra high voltage system to obtain the standard low voltage signal for protection. To avoid the phase angle error between the primary and secondary voltages, a tuning reactor is connected between a capacitor and a voltage transformer. The inductance of the reactor is designed based on the power system frequency. If a fault occurs on the power system, the secondary voltage of the CCVT contains some errors due to a dc offset component and harmonic components resulting from the fault. The errors become severe in the case of a close-in fault. This paper proposes an algorithm for compensating the secondary voltage of a CCVT in the time-domain. From the measured secondary voltage of the CCVT, the secondary and primary currents are obtained; then the voltage across the capacitor and the inductor is calculated and then added to the measured secondary voltage to obtain the correct primary voltage. Test results indicate that the proposed algorithm can compensate the distorted secondary voltage of the CCVT irrespective of the fault distance, the fault inception angle, and the burden of the CCVT.

  • Crack detection method of a rotating blade was suggested in this paper. A rotating blade was modeled with a cantilever beam connected to a hub undergoing rotating motion. The existence and the location of crack were able to be recognized from the vertical response of end tip of a rotating cantilever beam by employing Discrete Hidden Markov Model (DHMM) and Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD). DHMM is a famous stochastic method in the field of speech recognition. However, in recent researches, it has been proved that DHMM can also be used in machine health monitoring. EMD is the method suggested by Huang et al. that decompose a random signal into several mono component signals. EMD was used in this paper as the process of extraction of feature vectors which is the important process to developing DHMM. It was found that developed DHMMs for crack detection of a rotating blade have shown good crack detection ability.

  • A vehicle counting system at intersection is designed and implemented using analyzing a video stream from a camera. To separate foreground image from background, we compare three different methods, among which Li's method is chosen. Blobs are extracted from the foreground image using connected component analysis and the blobs are tracked by a blob tracker, frame by frame. The primary tracker use only the size and location of blob in foreground image. If there is a collision between blobs, the mean-shift tracking algorithm based on color distribution of blob is used. The proposed system is tested using real video data at intersection. If some huristics is applied, the system shows a good detection rate and a low error rate.
