The purpose of this study is to investigate Nest Labs (Nest)'s business strategy. The activities based on strategic choices for monetizing connected product are investigated. Nest's capacity and functionality is to offer a seamless integration of devices, platforms, and services and the "Works with Nest" offers an ecosystem fulfilling the needs of different partners. For monetizing customer data, Nest provides a seamless customer experience supported by product incentives. Nest introduces open APIs to connect its connected products to the wider Internet of things (IoT) and open to "If This, Then That." The Nest app controls them from one single place. Nest partners with 32 energy providers as of 2017 and they provide energy from renewable and non-renewable energy sources. Nest also creates a sales channels in direct and indirect route and expands is business model to other industries such as home-rental service, 'AirBnB' to help consumers become more energy-efficient at home.

Three cases of supertall connected structures are presented and each of them represents a quite style. The first case is a strong-connected structure. The coupling function of towers and connector contributes a lot to the structural stiffness and stability. Its special construction scheme had great impact on the construction quality and the structural safety, and must be accurately considered. For the second case which is a weak-connected structure, the influences of different connecting modes to the structural dynamic characteristic were explained. Then the combined bearings were proposed to achieve the design presume. In the third case which represents the multi-supported structures, the structural distinctive mechanical properties were discussed. For the structural state during construction process is quite different from that in final service condition, two construction procedures were simulated to get an optimal one. Although there are great challenges to designers, the advantages of the supertall connected buildings are obvious. Further work is needed in this area to adapt to the development of future cities.

Due to the growing awareness and demand for corporate social responsibility, the corporate activities designed to make a social contribution are becoming increasingly diversified. Nonetheless, according to a periodic survey, the public has become dissatisfied with the social contribution activities of domestic corporations. The perceptions of the social contribution activities of domestic corporations and the public were found to be quite different. In this study, the Social Contribution Activities were classified into three factors, "Socio-Cultural Resource Activities", "Indirect Social Resource activities" and "Economic Resource Activities", and the effect of each factor on the inter-firm connected activities and achievements of local development were analyzed. Firstly, the "Socio-Cultural Resource Activities" and "Indirect Social Resource Activities" were shown to have a positive effect on the Inter-firm connected activities in the community. Secondly, it was found that the more active the Inter-firm connected activities were in the community, the bigger their positive effect was on the achievements of local development. Thirdly, the "Economic Resource Activities" were shown to have a positive effect on the achievement of local development. Fourthly, "Socio-Cultural Resource Activities" and "Indirect Social Resource Activities" were shown to have a positive effect on the Inter-firm connected activities and an indirect positive effect on the achievement of local development. Based on this research, we quantitatively determine the relationship between the corporate social contribution activities and performance.

The traffic realizes that people come and go. The mobility is on the basis of location and time. The physical means for the traffic is composed of roads, vehicles and fuel. The current traffic services place emphasis on the physical elements. In the near future, with the current elements, the railroad service is considerably improved of through intangible factors including the customized customer services that the mobile-social network service is newly applied. The intangible things are connected to the increase of the time value for customers.

The purpose of this research is to analyze the business process in which Korea Land & Housing Corporation utilizes spatial DB of NSDI(National Spatial Data Infrastructure) for compensation service. By the analysis of spatial data connected with compensation service, the influence of the matching error among spatial data on the business process for the service is identified and it is required to draw a direction for improvement in it.

PC camera-based instant messenger have problems of video image break/delay and noise. The reason is caused by a composed problem that PC Camera is belong to the connected PC and operating in the PC. This research suggests an instant messenger that uses network camera connected to LAN instead of PC camera. Therefore, the instant messenger has a component that the camera is separated from PC. This research designs sequence diagram, video calls flow chart, and graphic user interface of the instant messenger. The instant messenger based on network camera provides high quality video calls service and makes it possible to call from a special remote site with real-time video image.

In this paper, we propose a connected car platform architecture called Mobile Second for developing of verity convergence services. A Mobile Second platform architecture is designed to provide more powerful and diverse convergence services for vehicles and drivers by applying technologies of Connected Car and ICT Convergence in various ways. The Mobile Second platform is implemented by applying Tizen IVI and Android to hardware platforms for IVI, Nexcom's VTC1010 and Freescale's i.MX6q/dl respectively. The Mobile Second platform provides the driver with the vehicle's information via IVI devices, mobile devices and PCs, etc., and provides Vehicle Selective Gateway(VSG) and Vehicle Control Framework for the driver to control his/her vehicle, and also provides a web framework to enable the use of VSG's APIs for the monitoring and controlling the vehicle information in various mobile environments as well as IVI devices. Since the Mobile Second platform aims to create new variety of services for Connected Car, it includes service frameworks for Smart Care / Self diagonostics, Mood & Entertainment services, and Runtime, libraries and APIs needed for the development of related applications. The libraries given by the Mobile Second Platform provides both a native library for native application support and a Java Script-based library for web application support, minimizing the dependency on the platform and contributing the convenience of developers at the same time.

Islanding phenomenon of photovoltaic system is undesirable because it leads to a safety hazard to utility service personnel and may cause damage to power generation and power supply facilities as a result of unsynchronized re-closure. Anti-islanding protection is an important technical requirement for grid-connected PV system. Until now, various anti-islanding methods for detecting and preventing islanding of photovoltaic and other distributed generations have been proposed. Most of them are focusing on the anti-islanding performance of single PV system according to the related international and domestic standard test procedures. There are few studies on the islanding phenomenon for multiple photovoltaic operation in parallel. This paper presents performance analysis of anti-islanding function for grid-connected PV inverter systems when several PV inverters are connected in parallel.

Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is rapidly emerging as the efficient approach in contemporary complex, heterogeneous computing environments. SOA increases the adaptability by loose coupling and its main feature is that three elements such as service provider, service requester and service registry are connected with each other systematically. To design the service-oriented system efficiently, a metric to measure the coupling between services accurately is needed. In this paper, we propose four coupling metrics for SOA based softwares. First, we suggest a coupling metric for service-oriented systems by modifying an established coupling metric of object-oriented systems. Then we suggest another coupling metric which includes indirect coupling between services. We also suggest two relative coupling metrics to measure coupling between subsystems. We investigate the theoretical soundness of the proposed metrics by the axioms of Briand et al. Finally, we apply the presented metrics to an industrial-scale case study.

This paper is addressed to Internet telephony based service implementation. It describes an implementation method which uses ARS as a gateway which combines Internet and traditional public switched telephone network for Internet information service using telephony and fax, is different to traditional Internet telephony which provide enhanced speech quality and low cost functionality. This method allows telephony and/or fax user to get Internet information without additional Internet bill, Internet infrastructure and low connection quality from low signal bandwidth connected him. Implemented system is useful to a special kind information service such as climate information of Korea etc and simpler than WAP based service as for wireless mobile telephony user. We implement job opportunity information and advertisement service supported by Home page of Choong Book Small & Medium Business Administration and e-mail service supported by Korean Society for Rehabilitation of persons with Disabilities to demonstrate the system ability. As a result of test implementation, this service system works good fur blind persons and graduated persons without job, is expected to apply for special Internet information provider via Voice and Fax.
