  • The effect of Banhasasim-tang extracts on the hepatic, splenic and cardiac toxicity induced by doxorubicin administration (three injection protocol) were monitored using male ICR mice. Changes of body weight, clinical signs, necropsy findings and organ weights of liver, spleen and heart were observed with blood GOT and GPT levels. The results were as follows: 1. Decrease of body weight after doxorubicin treatment was dose-dependently inhibited by Banhasasim-tang extracts. 2. The degrees of anorexia, ataxia and dehydration that were observed in doxombicin treatment groups were dose-dependently inhibited by Banhasasim-rang extracts. 3. Increase of absolute and relative liver weight observed in the doxorubicin treatment group were dose-dependently inhibited by Banhasasim-tang extracts. In addition, the degrees of liver congestion and necrotic spot were significantly and dose-dependently decreased in the Banhasasim-rang extracts dosing group compared to that of the doxorubicin-only treatment group. It is also demonstrated that elevated serum GOT and GPT levels in the doxorubicin treatment group were significantly decreased in the Banhasasim-rang extracts dosing group. 4. Decrease of absolute and relative spleen weight observed in doxorubicin treatment groups were dose-dependently inhibited by Banhasasim-rang extracts. In addition, the degrees of splenic atrophy were significantly and dose-dependently decreased in the Banhasasim-rang extracts dosing group compared to that of doxorubicin-only treatment group. 5. Increase of absolute and relative heart weight observed in doxorubicin treatment groups were dose-dependently inhibited by Banhasasim-rang extracts. In addition, the degrees of heart congestion and enlargement were significantly and dose-dependently decreased in the Banhasasim-rang extracts dosing group compared to that of the doxorubicin-only treatment group. In conclusion, the toxicity of doxorubicin treatment (decrease of body weight, clinical signs such as anorexia, ataxia and dehydration, changes of organ weights of liver, spleen and heart, elevation of serum GOT and GPT levels) was inhibited and/or prevented by Banhasasim-rang extracts. According to these results, it is considered that Banhasasim-rang has some preventive effect against the toxicity induced by doxorubicin.

  • With advanced technologies applied to transportation, realtime traffic information has been necessary for not only drivers but also agencies. In normal, traffic conditions have been represented to three levels according to congestion: "free", "slow", and "jammed". Those categories and criteria are set up for traffic management even though traffic information is provided for drivers. This study examines how drivers feel current congestion levels and delves into traffic categories and criteria which they recognize. To collect data for drivers' recognition, a survey of freeway travellers is conducted answering the question about traffic flow speed from video image on a freeway section. In the result of the survey, the surveyee preferred a 4-level traffic condition including "delayed" to 3-level traffic condition. As its criteria, 20 km/h, 50 km/h, and 75 km/h were obtained. These results are expected to contribute to building more appropriate traffic information for drivers and providing an operational guideline for Traffic Monitering Centers.

  • In inner harbour of Inchon Port, there are two lock gates (50KT, 10KT) which have two gates per lock gate in inner/outer sides except a gate in inner harbour side 7f 10KT. Due to the lack of the fore-mentioned gate, the use of 10KT lock gate Is suspended in every 3 years for regular maintenance. Now an additional gate is under construction in order to improve the efficiency of the 10KT lock gate. This paper will be aimed to evaluate the operational utilization levels of lock gates in present and future. The present operational utilization levels of lock gates are 0.2119 in 10KT lock gate, 0.2051 in 50KT lock gate which were considered the 46.5 closed days every 3 years for 10KT regular maintenance. The levels are estimated to 0.2246(10KT), 0.2539(50KT) in 2006 and 0.2241(10KT), 0.2560(50KT) in 2011. The levels of 50KT lock gate are evaluated to be more rapidly increased up to 24.5% in 2011.

  • In this detailed and comprehensive study, our primary focus has been placed on accurately gauging the number of visitors and their real-time locations in commercial spaces. Particularly, in a real cafe, using security cameras, we have developed a system that can offer live updates on available seating and predict future congestion levels. By employing YOLO, a real-time object detection and tracking algorithm, the number of visitors and their respective locations in real-time are also monitored. This information is then used to update a cafe's indoor map, thereby enabling users to easily identify available seating. Moreover, we developed a model that predicts the congestion of a cafe in real time. The sophisticated model, designed to learn visitor count and movement patterns over diverse time intervals, is based on Long Short Term Memory (LSTM) to address the vanishing gradient problem and Sequence-to-Sequence (Seq2Seq) for processing data with temporal relationships. This innovative system has the potential to significantly improve cafe management efficiency and customer satisfaction by delivering reliable predictions of cafe congestion to all users. Our groundbreaking research not only demonstrates the effectiveness and utility of indoor location tracking technology implemented through security cameras but also proposes potential applications in other commercial spaces.

  • The present study was carried out to investigate the potential acute toxicity of methylcyclohexane (MCH) by a single oral dose in female rats. The test chemical was administered once by gavage to female rats at dose levels 0, 1,250, 2,500, and 5,000 mg/kg. Mortalities, clinical findings, and body weight changes were monitored for the 14-day period following the administration. At the end of 14-day observation period, all animals were sacrificed and complete gross postmortem and histopathological examinations were performed. Treatment-related clinical signs, as evidenced by depression, soft feces, decreased locomotion activity, solid perineal region, crouching position, and anorexia were observed in all treatment groups in a dose-dependent manner. At the dose level of 5,000 mg/kg, decreased or suppressed body weight gain was found during the study period. At the scheduled necropsy, one case of congestion of the intestine and an increase in the weights of liver and kidney were observed in the 5,000 mg/kg group. Histopathological examinations exhibited an increased incidence of glomerular atrophy, congestion/hemorrhage, and focal degeneration/necrosis in the liver and an increased incidence of congestion, and inflammatory cell infiltration in the kidney. On the basis of the results, it was concluded that a single oral administration of MCH resulted in some adverse effects on clinical sign, body weight gain, and organ weight and histopathology in the liver and kidney in female rats. In the experimental conditions, the minimal lethal dose ($LD_{10}$) of MCH was greater than 5,000 mg/kg.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze air quality and carbon emissions in developing countries, particularly Myanmar, and explore the impact of transportation on CO2 emissions during peak hours relative to free-flow conditions. Method: This study conducted a traffic survey in two major cities in Myanmar to quantify carbon dioxide emissions from the transportation sector, using IPCC's tier 1 and tier 2 approaches, with statistical analysis performed using Python 3 and Microsoft Excel for comparative analysis of critical factors in CO2 emissions. Result: The result of this study is an estimate of the vehicle kilometers traveled (VKT) and fuel consumption in Yangon city for the year 2019, based on data from various sources including the Myanmar Statistical data base, YUTRA project survey, and Ministry of Electric and Energy. The study also analyzes the average travel time index (TTI) for the four roads in Yangon, which indicates the impact of congestion on vehicle travel time and CO2 emissions. Overall, the study provides important insights into the transport sector in Yangon city and can be used to inform policies aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving traffic conditions. Conclusion: The study concludes that congestion plays a significant role in increasing fuel use and emission levels in the road transport sector in Myanmar. The analysis provides valuable insights into the impact of the sector on the environment and emphasizes the importance of addressing congestion to reduce fuel use and emissions. However, the study's scope is limited to Yangon city and Mandalay city, and some mean values may not accurately represent the entire country and other developing countries.

  • In this paper, we extend the performance of bidirectional TCP connection over end-to-end network that uses transfer rate-based flow and congestion control. The sharing of a common buffer by TCP packets and acknowledgement has been known to result in an effect called ack compression, where acks of a connection arrive at the source bunched together, resulting in unfairness and degraded throughput. The degradation in throughput due to bidirectional traffic can be significant. Even in the simple case of symmetrical connections with adequate window size, the connection efficiency is improved about 20% for three levels of background traffic 2.5Mbps, 5.0Mbps and 7.5Mbps. Otherwise, the throughput of jitter is reduced about 50% because round trip delay time is smaller between source node and destination node. Also, we show that throughput curve is improved with connection rate algorithm which is proposed for TCP congetion avoidance as a function of aggressiveness threshold for three levels of background traffic 2.5Mbps, 5Mbps and 7.5Mbps. By analyzing the periodic bursty behavior of the source IP queue, we derive estimated for the maximum queue size and arrive at a simple predictor for the degraded throughput, applicable for relatively general situations.

  • In this paper, we compared and analyzed two new models of cyclic packet dropping algorithm, Adaptive Cyclic Packet Dropping algorithm (ACPD), and Non-adaptive Cyclic Packet Dropping algorithm (NCPD) with RIO. The ACPD algorithm drops adaptively packets for the congestion control, as predicting traffic pattern between each cycle. Therefore the ACPD algorithm makes up for the drawback of RIO algorithm and minimizes the wastes of the bandwidth being capable of predicting in the NCPD algorithm. We modelled two cyclic packet drop algorithms and executed a simulation and analyzed the throughput and packet drop rate based on Sending Priority changing dynamically depending on network traffic. In this algorithm, applying the strict drop precedence policy, we get better performance on priority levels. The results show that two new algorithms may provide more efficient and stricter drop precedence policy as compared to RIO independent of traffic load. The ACPD algorithm can provide better performance on priority levels and keep stricter drop policy than other algorithms.
