An experimental investigation of heat transfer characteristics on confined jet impinging plate using multiple slot jets has been performed. The effects of jet Reynolds numbers(Re=2000, 3950, 5900, 7900), dimensionlesss slot-to-plate distances(H/B=2, 4, 6, 8) and jet-to-jet distances(S=16B, 20B, 24B, 30B) on the local and average heat transfer coefficients have been examined. To clarify local heat transfer characteristics, naphthalene sublimation technique were used. From the experimental results, it was found that the local and average heat transfer rates increase with increasing jet Reynolds number. Measurements of local heat transfer coefficients produced by multiple of slot jets have given an indication of the nature of the interaction between jets and of the uniformity of heat transfer obtainable with various arrangements. At S/B=20, Re=7900 and H/B=6, maximum average Nusselt number is obtained.
In this paper, confined multiple slot jet impingement with exhaust ports is investigated numerically. A flow cell, defined as volume sectioned by the impingement and confinement surfaces and the centerlines of adjacent nozzle and exhaust port, is chosen for computational domain. The effects of Reynolds number and geometrical parameters on the heat transfer performance and the flow characteristics are studied. For turbulence, the Abe-Kondoh-Nagano version of the low-Reynolds k-$\varepsilon$ model is employed. The results showed that the local Nusselt number distribution is shifted down and show poor heat transfer performance for small Reynolds number and small ratio of the lateral and axial length of flow cell. The rest of range, except the range of the shift phenomenon, can be classified into three groups by heat transfer characteristics.

An experimental investigation on heat transfer characteristics of two-dimensional heated blocks using a confined impinging slot jet has been performed. The effect of jet Reynolds number(Re=3900, 5800, 9700), streamwise block spacing(p/w=0.5, 1, 1.5) and dimensionless nozzle to block distance(H/B=1, 2, 4, 6) have been examined with five isothermally heated blocks. With the measurement of jet mean velocity and turbulence intensity distributions at nozzle exit, initially turbulent regimes, are classified. To clarify local heat transfer characteristics, naphthalene sublimation technique as used. The maximum Nusselt number at the stagnation point for the jet Reynolds number is occurred at H/B=4. Besides, the local and a average heat transfer of heated blocks increase with decreasing streamwise block spacing and increasing jet Reynolds number.
The characteristics of laminar and turbulent slot impinging jet flows are examined using segregated FEM with SUPG. Turbulent flows are modeled using $Wilcox^{(1)}$$k-\;{\omega}$ turbulence model. The results are validated by comparing with velocity field of the existing experimental data. The distance of the target plate from the nozzle varies between 2, 4 and 5 times the slot jet width. Present study shows that the $k-\;{\omega}$ model gives results which agree well with the existing experimental data. In turbulence flows, the velocity profile of present calculation is more accurate than the existing numerical calculations. In laminar flows, We found tertiary vortex which was not found in the previous numerical study by M. $chen^{(6)}$ et al due to the numerical difference.
The confined slot air jet impinging normally on a moving flat surface has been investigated numerically by using commercial CFD code Ansys CFX-V11. Turbulent flows are modeled using k-w turbulence model. Two-dimensional turbulent flow is considered. Calculations were conducted for a nozzle-to-plate spacing of eight slot nozzle width, at three Reynolds number(Re=4500, 6700 and 10,000) and four surface-to-velocity ratios i.e. 0, 0.25, 0.5 and 1. Results are compared against corresponding cases for heat transfer from a stationary plate. Local Nusselt number is calculated under constant wall temperature condition. The analysis reveals that the average Nusselt number increases considerably with the jet exit Reynolds number, but decrease with the plate velocity.

The present study numerically investigates two-dimensional flow and heat transfer in the multiple confined impinging slot jet. Numerical simulations are performed for the different Reynolds numbers(Re=100 and 200) in the range of nozzles from 1 to 9 and height ratios(H/D) from 2 to 5, where H/D is the ratio of the channel height to the slot width. The vector plots of velocity profile, stagnation and averaged Nusselt number distributions are presented in this paper. The dependency of thermal fields on the Reynolds number, nozzle number and height ratio can be clarified by observing the Nusselt number as heat transfer characteristic at the stagnation point and impingement surface. The Nusselt number at the stagnation point of the central slot shows unsteadiness at H/D=3 and Re=200. The value of Nusselt number at the stagnation point of the central slot decreases with higher Reynolds number and number of nozzle although overall area averaged Nusselt number increases. Hence careful selection of geometrical parameters and number of nozzle are necessary for optimization of the heat transfer performance of multiple slot impinging jet.

The flow and heat transfer characteristics at the surface of two-dimensional protruding heated blocks using confined impingement multiple slot jets were computationally investigated Numerical predictions were made for round-edged nozzles at several nozzle-to-target plate spacings and jet-to-jet distances, with turbulent jet Reynolds numbers ranging from 2000 to 7800. The commercial finite-volume code FLUENT was used to solve the heat transfer characteristics and flow fields using a RNG $\textsc{k}-\varepsilon$ model. The computed heat transfer characteristics at the surface of heated blocks were in good qualitative agreement with previous experimental data The results of heat transfer characteristics on the surface of protruding heated blocks are important considerations in electronics Packaging design.

In the present paper, flow and heat transfer characteristics of confined impinging slot jets have been numerically investigated using a SIMPLE-based segregated SUPG finite element method. For laminar jets, it is shown that the skin friction coefficient obtained from the present SUPG formulation approaches the grid-independent Galerkin solution inducing negligible false diffusion in the flow field when a moderate number of grid points are used. For turbulent jets, the k-$\omega$turbulence model is adopted. The streamwise mean velocity and the heat transfer coefficient respectively agree very well with existing experimental data within limited ranges of parameters.
When triple flames propagated in a diverging channel, the effects of fuel dilution on the lift-off characteristics of triple flames were investigated. A multi-slot burner was used to stabilize the lift-off flame especially at weak fuel concentration gradients. It was reported that there is a maximum propagation velocity at a critical concentration gradient in an open jet regardless of fuel dilution. The enhancement of a diffusion flame affected to increase the propagation velocity around critical concentration gradients. However, the influence of a confined channel on the structure of triple flames according to fuel dilution needs to be investigated compared with an open jet case. This study aimed to examine the effect of a confined channel on the structure and the propagation velocity of the triple flames according to fuel dilution. Lift-off height and propagation velocity of triple flames were investigated by employing three kinds of fuel compositions diluted by nitrogen (0%, 25%, 50% $N_2$), Fuel dilution reduced the propagation velocity of triple flame in a confined channel mainly due to the decrease of flame temperature in premixed branch. Despite the difference in fuel dilution, the propagation velocity has a maximum value at a specific fuel concentration gradient even though the critical concentration gradient increases with fuel dilution. And the critical concentration gradient in a confined channel is larger than that in an open jet due to enhancement of convective diffusion.
