Evaluation Method of NFR Slider Using Modal Analysis Method and Instrumental Variable Method (모드해석법과 보조변수법을 이용한 NFR 슬라이더 평가방법)

  • Identification method is formulated to evaluate the dynamic characteristics of air bearings under NFR(Near Field Recording) sliders. Impulse responses and frequency response functions of NFR sliders are obtained on numerical non-linear models including rigid motion of slider and fluid motion of air bearing under the slider. Modal parameters and system parameters are identified by modal analysis method and instrumental variable method. The parameters of sliders are utilized to evaluate the dynamic characteristics of air bearings. Also, this study shows the difference between the dynamic characteristics of NFR and HDD slides, and squeeze effect of air bearings.

  • There has been lower the tilt margin by the increase of coma aberration due to the reduction of wave-length and the increase of numerical aperture for high density recording. The RF signal degradation is increased as the decrease of tilt margin. To compensate the tilt margin, the optical pick-up actuator for high-speed CD/DVD re-writable system should be able to drive the radial-tilt motion. We announce that the 3-axis drive actuator for high-speed CD/DVD rewritable system. And what was more, the DC/AC sensitivities of this actuator are suitable fur the low-speed playability, the high-speed readability and the high-speed rewritability.

  • 21세기 정보화시대에 미디어의 발전은 고저장밀도를 요구하는 정보저장 장치의 개발을 필요로 하게 되었고, 현재 정보저장 장치의 주류를 이루는 magnetic recording 방식에 의한 HDD는 향후 5년 이내에 초자성한계 (super paramagnetic limit)라는 물리적 현상에 직면하여 더 이상 발전이 어려울 깃이다 따라서 이러한 한계를 극복하기 위한 여러 기술 증 Scanning Probe Microscope (SPM)을 이용한 차세대 탐침형 정보저장 기술은 미세한 끝단 반경을 가지는 탐침과 표면의 상호작용을 이용하여 정보를 기록/재생하는 기술로써 수십 nm 크기의 bit를 형성하여 Tbit/in$^2$ 이상의 높은 저장밀도를 가질 수 있으므로 현재 가장 상용화될 가능성이 높다.(중략)

  • Increasing the density magnetic recording of a hard disk drive needs to improve position control of a slider. We have troubles analyzing position of a slider by nonlinear property of pivot ball bearing. Many researches analyze a hard disk drive to change pivot ball bearing part from balls to springs. Pivot ball bearing operates by rotation and movement of balls. This study considers Hertzian contact force when balls contact with outer race to analyze nonlinear movement of a ball bearing. Experiment of this study measures movement of a circular center of a pivot ball bearing. We also verify the simulation results and the experiment results.

  • This research investigates to analyze the effect of laser of thermally assisted magnetic recording system on diamond like carbon (DLC) layer of slider. We investigated a damaged DLC layer of slider with laser spot-induced damage and analyze the effect of the damaged DLC layer in slider dynamics. The damaged DLC layer resulted in change of flying height and air bearing stiffness pressure.

  • The diffuser noise of HVAC(heating ventilating and air-conditioning) uses dB(A) or NC as a indoor noise criteria that ASHRAE represents, and there is no specific guide line for application. According to the previous study, there are some problems like that even though the sound level of sound source is same, the NC shows different values, which makes the noise rating confused. This problem is caused by the frequency characteristics of sound source and its sound level. Therefore, appropriate evaluation method should be considered based on the subjective responses. This study aims to analyze the physical parameters appropriate for the evaluation of HVAC diffuser noise.   • In this study, near-infrared absorbing dyes, namely, new rigidified heptamethine cyanine dyes were synthesized and investigated their properties. The cyanine dyes have been synthesized by a condensation reaction between a quanternary salt containing as activated methyl group and an unsaturated bisaldehyde or its equivalent. We were investigated the synthesis of new rigidified heptamethine cyanine and related the compounds with near infrared absorption. The full spectroscopic characterization of all cyanine were described. Absorption properties in the near-infrared region may cause these dyes to the potential used in bio-probe, optical recording media materials.

  • The type of physiological stress involved in driving is probably complex, and a comprehensive study involving recording of physiological signals such as electrocardiogram(ECG), electromyogram(EMG). Changes in relevant Physiological parameters, such as ECG, EMG, reflected changes in driver status. In order to derive the mental and physical load of driving a motor vehicle from driving behaviour alone it is necessary to establish the relationship between changes in a driver's physiological parameters and behavioral parameters. In this study, we choose two different condition and investigated driver's status using HRV analysis method. Many previous studies have shown that increasing driving time causes a variation of HRV signal.

  • The purpose of this study was to find out the relationship between sleep physiological signals data and subjective feeling of sleep quality. Sixteen subjective were investigated and they slept on both comfortable mattress and uncomfortable mattress. Information of sleep stage is one of the most important clues for sleep quality. Polysomnography is basically the recording of sleep. The several channels of brain waves (EEG), eyes (EOG), chin movements (EMG) and heart (ECG) were monitored. Sixteen subjects spent 6 days and nights in the laboratory and the data of sleeping 7h for each of 3 nights was analyzed. Percentage of deep sleep (III and IV, sleep efficiency, WASO, stage 1 and subjective feeling of sleep quality were significantly affected with mattress types (comfortable and uncomfortable mattress). When subjects slept on comfortable beds, percentage of deep sleep and sleep efficiency were higher than those of uncomfortable bed. The percentages of wake after sleep onset and stage 1 were lower when subject slept in a comfortable bed. The subjective feeling of sleep quality agreed with the recorded sleep data also.

  • In 2001, extremely cold air covered Korean peninsula during mid-January, recording - 29.2$^{\circ}C$ in Cheolwon region in Kangwon province. As a result, 4 cities or department below -$25^{\circ}C$ and 10 cities or department between 20 to -24.9$^{\circ}C$ were under the anxiety of cold injury in peach and grape. This survey and investigation was carried out to elucidate the characteristic symptoms of cold injury in peach and to obtain the basic information about the phenomenon, which could be occur in low air temperature.(omitted)
