  • The graph of the parallelogram law is well known, which gives rise to the characterization of an inner product space among normed linear spaces [6]. In this paper we will sketch graphs of its deformations according to our previous paper [7, Theorem 3.1 and 3.2]; each one of which characterizes an inner product space among normed linear spaces. Consequently, the graphs of some classical characterizations of an inner product space follow easily.

  • In this study, we evaluated optimum condition of enzyme with pH and temperature for preparation of microfibillated cellulose(MFC). Well-known endo-glucanase, three enzymes were used and CMC was used for substrate. Enzyme activity was evaluated using DNS method and absorbance with UV/VIS spectrophotometer. The enzyme shown the greatest activity was reacted with pulps at optimum condition for 1 hour and treated pulps beated until 100 mL CSF. Enzyme B and Enzyme L was the higher enzyme activity below 0.1% concentration and Enzyme N was the lowest enzyme activity. At various pH and temperature conditions, enzyme activity of Enzyme B was higher than the others at the same concentration. Especially enzyme activity at $50^{\circ}C$ of Enzyme B was almost not changed over pH 6.0. Optimum condition of three enzyme was pH 6 or pH 7 and $50^{\circ}C$ or $60^{\circ}C$. Also beating efficiency of enzyme treated pulps with Enzyme B is 55.6%.

  • The author studied the stability Tualities of stern trawlers in the North Pacific Ocean according to Kato's simple judging method. The author selected 1,000 gross tonnage of A and B types, and calculated each characteristics for various conditions under 5 different free-board and S different KG. Finally, authour obtained some data of stability factors for the two types, and pointed out the zone of safety and danger between stability factor, GM and GZ max. The results obtained here are summarized as follows: The A type of ship is judged that it has the condition of safety when displacement is 2,400 tonnage and the value of K¢ was 3.40m or 3.70m. The B type of ship is judged that it only has the condition of some safety when displacement was 2,400 tonnage and the value of KG is 3.40 m, but ships of the both types have the condition of danger when displacement is 1,300-2,200 tonnage and the value of KG is 3.40-4.60m. Any types of ships under various condition must have appropriate dimensions among GM, free-oard and GZ max for the stability of ships.

  • Optimum extraction condition and clarification process were investigated to manufacture liquid extract tea using Phellinus linteus. Carbohydrates content in the raw Phellinus linteus was 80.9%. Major minerals were K, Ca, Fe and Na, but vitamin B$_1$, B$_2$, and C were not detected. The best extraction condition was 5% raw material at 10$0^{\circ}C$ within 3 hr. To clarify the extract, three methods of filtration with depth filter pad, centrifugation and addition of several filter aids were studied. Filtration with depth filter pad and centrifugation were highly effective on the clarification and the changes in the turbidity for 7 weeks at 4$0^{\circ}C$ were not occurred. The optimum clarification condition was centrifugation above 6,000 rpm or filtration with 8 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ depth filter pad.

  • Thermal stress is a tremendous health predicament encountered by poultry farmers with adverse effects on the performance, product stature, health condition, survival, and overall welfare of poultry birds, and so requires urgent dietary user-friendly strategy to curb. This study was conducted with 200-day old broilers for the purpose of investigating the potential of phytogenics in refining the negative effects of heat stress on broiler chicken. Moringa, Phyllanthus and mistletoe leaves were processed as phytogenic supplements and incorporated into standard ration for broilers as treatments B1 (control), B2, B3 and B4 diet during the peak of thermal discomfort in humid tropics. Growth and carcass indices were monitored in a 49-day trial and blood samples were harvested at the end of the ordeal period to assess haematology, serum biochemical and oxidative stress markers with the use of standard procedures. The results obtained showed that the prevailing environmental condition in the study site indicated that the birds were exposed to heat stress. Birds fed on moringa and mistletoe supplements had higher performance index than birds without supplementation during heat stress condition, while birds fed on mistletoe supplement had the highest survival rate across the treatments. The liveweight, slaughter weight, dressed weight and eviscerated weight of heat stressed birds fed on moringa, phyllanthus and mistletoe supplements were significantly higher than birds on control treatment. Heterophyl/lymphocyte ratio of heat stressed birds without supplement were higher than birds on phytogenic supplements, with least values recorded in phyllanthus and mistletoe fed birds. Birds on phytogenic supplement tend to have lower cholesterol profile, lipid peroxidation and better antioxidant profile than birds on control treatment during heat stress conditions. Mistletoe supplementation in broiler ration enhances the survival rate, as well as promotes growth indices better among the phytogenic supplements. However, phytogenic supplements did ameliorate the negative effects of thermal discomfort on performance, physiological and oxidative stress in heat-stressed broiler chicken.

  • We proposed a high-temperature circuit-analog radar absorbing structures (CA-RAS), and evaluated radar absorption performance and tensile properties in 350℃ and a hot-wet environment. The CA-RAS was implemented with a glass/cyanate ester composites and a square resistive pattern layer, and reflection loss was measured by 350℃ and after exposure of hot-wet condition using free space measurement. And the tensile strength at 350℃ and after exposure of hot-wet condition was measured according to the ASTM D638. The proposed CA-RAS showed a 4 GHz of -dB bandwidth and -20 dB of a peak value at 350℃. In addition, there was no deterioration in absorption performance after exposure to a hot-wet condition. The tensile strength value of more than 95% compared to the strength of the glass/cyanate ester composite was confirmed at 350℃ and after exposure of hot-wet condition. Through this, the applicability of CA-RAS proposed in this study was confirmed as a load bearing structure for stealth weapon exposed to high temperature and hot-wet environment.

  • High-performance concrete (HPC) may be expected to differ from usual concrete with respect to shrinkage behavior, and it shows high autogenous shrinkage due to the use of very low water-binder ratio (w/b) and various admixtures. Therefore, in order to minimize the shrinkage stress and to ensure the service life of concrete structure, volumetric change of HPC should be understood. In this study, small prisms made of HPC with w/b of 0.32 and blast-furnace slag content of $0\%,\;30\%,\;and\;50\%$ were prepared to measure the volumetric changes such as autogenous shrinkage, drying shrinkage, and swelling under three different curing conditions. It was observed that the concrete cured. sealed condition showed only autogenous shrinkage while the concrete let to dry condition at temperature of $20^{\circ}C$ and relative humidity of $60\%$ during the test period showed both autogenous and drying shrinkage. Moreover, the concrete exposed to dry condition after 2-day water curing swelled and then started to shrink with age. The total shrinkage (autogenous+drying) of this concrete was smaller than that of the concrete cured dry condition, especially at early-age. Therefore, the early-age moisture curing is very effective to control or minimize the volumetric change and its induced stress of HPC.

  • The present research proposes a pressure based approach along with Langmuir slip condition for predicting microscale fluid flows. Using this method, gaseous slip flows in 2 -dimensional microchannels are numerically investigated. Compared to the DSMC simulation, statistical errors could be avoided and computing time is much less than that of the aforementioned molecular approach. Maxwell slip boundary condition is also studied in this research. These two slip conditions give similar results except for the pressure nonlinearity at high Knudsen number regime. However, Langmuir slip condition seems to be more promising because this does not need to calculate the streamwise velocity gradient accurately and to calibrate the empirical accommodation coefficient. The simulation results show that the proposed method using Langmuir slip condition is an effective tool for predicting compressibility and rarefaction in microscale slip flows.

  • This study investigated a method to determine an efficient operating condition for the $UV/H_2O_2$ process. The OH radical scavenging factor is the most important factor to predict the removal efficiency of the target compound and determine the operating condition of the $UV/H_2O_2$ process. To rapidly and simply measure the scavenging factor, Rhodamine B (RhB) was selected as a probe compound. Its reliability was verified by comparing it with a typical probe compound (para-chlorobenzoic acid, pCBA); the difference between RhB and pCBA was only 1.1%. In a prediction test for the removal of Ibuprofen, the RhB method also shows a high reliability with an error rate of about 5% between the experimental result and the model prediction using the measured scavenging factor. In the monitoring result, the scavenging factor in the influent water of the $UV/H_2O_2$ pilot plant was changed up to 200% for about 8 months, suggesting that the required UV dose could be increased about 1.7 times to achieve 90% caffeine removal. These results show the importance of the scavenging factor measurement in the $UV/H_2O_2$ process, and the operating condition could simply be determined from the scavenging factor, absorbance, and information pertaining to the target compound.
