  • This paper describes the strategy of a daily optimal operational scheduling on cogeneration systems with each other generation mode. The cogeneration systems consists of three generators. auxiiiary devices which are three auxiliary boilers, two waste boilers and three sludge incinerators. One unit that using the back pressure turbin generates the electrical and the thermal energy. The other two units that using the extraction condensing turbine generate the energy. Auxiliary devices operate to supplement the thermal energy to the thermal load with three units. The cogeneration system has a large capacity which is able to supply enough the thermal energy to the thermal load, however the electric power generated is insufficient to satisfy the electrical load. Therefore the insufficient electric energy is supplemented by buying electrical energy from the utility. Simulation was carried out using optimization toolbox. The result reveals that the proposed modeling and strategy can be effectively applied to cogeneration systems with each other generation mode.

  • The aim of this study was to enhance the transfection efficiency of emulsion-mediated gene expression by using chitosan, Conventional DNA/emulsion complexes and precondensed DNA/emulsion complexes were prepared by adding either naked or precondensed plasmids to cationic emulsion. The zeta potential. TEM, and size of transfection complexes were measured. In vitro transfection efficiency for boty complexes was also studied by several methods: flow cytometer, expression analysis by confocal microscope, RT-PCR, and in addition. (omitted)

  • The present study investigated the effect of key parameters on the performance of a cascade system using R-22 and R-23 refrigerants. Experimental data for the cascade system have been compared with simulation results using thermodynamic analysis. The cascade system tested at the evaporating temperature of $-80^{\circ}C $ and the condensing temperature of$40^{\circ}C $. The key experimental parameters were the evaporating temperature of the HTC(-35, -30, -25, -20, $-15^{\circ}C $) and mass flux of the HTC(200, 250, 300kg/$m^2$s). As the evaporating temperature and the mass flux of the HTC were increased respectively, the COP and the refrigerating efficiency were increased and then decreased while the volume flow rate per unit refrigeration capacity showed the opposite trend. The maximum COP and refrigerating efficiency were obtained at the evaporating temperature of the HTC of $-25^{\circ}C $ and the mass flux of 250 kg/$m^2$s.

  • In this paper, cycle performance analysis of two-stage compression and two-stage expansion refrigeration system using alternative freon refrigerants is presented to offer the basic design data for the operating parameters of the system. Alternative freon refrigerant for freon refrigerant R22 were used as working fluids in this study. The operating parameters considered in this study included evaporation temperature, condensation temperature, subcooling degree, superheating degree, and mass flow rate ratio of inter-cooler. The main results were summarized as follows : The COP of two-stage compression and two-stage expansion refrigeration system increases with the increasing subcooling degree and mass flow rate ratio of inter-cooler, but decreases with the increasing evaporating temperature, condensing temperature and superheating degree. Therefore, subcooling degree, mass flow rate ratio of inter-cooler of two-stage compression and two-stage expansion refrigeration system using alternative freon refrigerants have an effect on COP of this system.

  • We have succeeded in the preparation of high molecular weight polybenzimidazoles by solution polycondensation of 3,3'-diaminobenzidine tetrahydrochloride with isophthalic acid, terephthalic acid, or with their derivatives using polyphosphoric acid both as solvent and as condensing agent. Also, we modified phosphoric acid into fluoroalkyl-phosphonic acids[F-PA]. The main reasons are as follows, first of all F-PAs are stronger acids than PA and alkylphosphonic acids which should promote proton hopping and transport. In addition, F-PA has weaker adsorption onto Pt which help to prevent electrocatalyst poisoning and promote higher oxygen reduction activity. The ionic conductivity of 85%-H3PO4 doped membranes show $10^{-2}\;Scm^{-1}\;to\;3{\times}10^{-2}\;Scm^{-1}\;at\;150^{\circ}C$ MEA with 2 %-added electrolyte shows slightly higher cell voltage than the others.

  • By condensing two different functional monomers, highly fluorescent aromatic polymers were prepared to produce a conjugated- conjugated spacer-type copolymer or conjugated-non-conjugated spacer-type copolymer. As synthesized polymers were soluble in an organic solvent and showed significantly enhanced optical properties compared to its monomer. Variation in the monomer composition afforded polymers having multifunctionaility such as photochromic-fluorescent polymers. Transparent thin films of the polymer as a solid medium were prepared using spin coating method and fabricated as a photoswitch, which showed photo-induced conductivity switching properties depending on the core monomeric unit in the polymers.

  • Secondary school students' conceptions about the phenomena of evaporating, condensing, boiling and melting of ice using a modified questionare-about-events method. The specific views at each grade level were also studied. The results of investigation were as following. 1) Students' understanding on the sciencific concepts and terms is superficial and nonscientific. 2) Even though upper grade students have exposed to a considerable science teaching, their views are similar to lower grade students. 3) Certain views on the change of state of water can change with the advanced science teaching. However, some nonscientific views are more popular with the older students than with the younger students.

  • In order to control the transonic flow field with shock wave, a condensing flow was produced by an expansion of moist air on a circular bump model and shock waves were occurred in the supersonic parts of the fields. Furthermore, the additional passive technique of shock - boundary layer interaction using the porous wall with a cavity underneath was adopted in this flow field. The effects of these methods on the shock wave characteristics were investigated numerically. The result showed that the flow fields might be effectively controlled by the suitable combination between non-equilibrium condensation and the position of porous wall.

  • Computer simulation was conducted to study performance characteristics of air-cooled condenser of a double effect absorption heat pump with variations of saturation pressures and mass flow rates of the refrigerant ; volume flow rates, relative humidities and temperatures of the air The vertically installed condenser had the staggered tube array with continuous plate fins of wavy type. When the saturation pressure of the condenser was decreased from 760 torr to 20 torr, heat transfer rates and condensing rates of refrigerant were decreased. If excess refrigerant flows in the condenser, the pressure and saturation temperature of the condenser were increased which makes the refrigerating capacity of an absorption heat pump reduced.

  • In the present paper, the effects of inlet pressure on the heat and mass transfer rates of an air cooler are numerically predicted by a local analysis method. The pressures of the moist air vary from 2 to 4 bars. The psychrometric properties such as dew point temperature, relative humidity and humidity ratio are employed to treat the condensing water vapor in the moist air when the surface temperatures are dropped below the dew point. The effects of the inlet pressures on the heat transfer rate, the dew point temperature, the rate of condensed water, the outlet temperature of air and cooling water are calculated. The condensation process of water vapor is discussed in detail. The results of present calculations are compared with the test data and shows good agreements.
