  • Due to the recent advances in computer technologies and high-speed networks, telecommunication services and provision of multimedia services will be considered a new software architecture adapting networking infrastructure on information networking architecture. In this paper, the video conference services has been selected as a target service example because it is expected to become one of the most important services on the full service network. In fact, it can be viewed as the basis for providing telecommunication services such as video telephony and video conferencing. This paepr presents the prototyping of TINA(Telecommunication Information Networking Architecture) based desktop video conference system using the concepts of session management. The prototyping of deskop video conference system aims at assessing TINA concepts and refinement of the mapping between session graph and connection graph, and provides support of open service platform towards distribution and objected-orientation.

  • Policy-based Network Management (PBNM) has been presented as a paradigm for efficient and customizable management systems. The approach chosen is based on PBNM systems, which are a promising and novel approach to network management. These systems have the potential to improve the automation of network management processes. The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) has also used policy concepts and provided a framework to describe the concept as the Policy Core Information Model (PCIM) and its extensions. There are policy conflicts among the policies that are defined as the policy information model and they are not easily and effectively detected and resolved. In this paper, we present the brief description of PBNM and illustrate the concepts of policy core information model and its policy implementation for a network security. Especially we describe our framework for detecting and resolving the policy conflicts for network security.

  • The diverse set of phenomena, concepts, and activities existing in academic disciplines could be studied from multiple perspectives. One of the promising approaches to explore phenomena is hermeneutics, especially in the form of hermeneutic phenomenology, which has been formed as a consequence of postmodern movements. Hermeneutic phenomenology has taken root in the original ideas of philosophers like Husserl, Heidegger, and Gadamer, and has become one of the fruitful research methodologies over time. After a brief review of the foundations of hermeneutic and phenomenological methodologies, the role of the hermeneutic phenomenology approach in supporting research and information services is discussed. The present article seeks to describe narratively the use of hermeneutic phenomenology in such issues as information technology, information behavior, knowledge organization, and librarians' roles as related to Information Science.

  • The study aims to develop the indicators to evaluate archival information service environments for the disabled in archives. Based on the barrier-free authentication indicators, the study analyzed the main concepts of archival information services and the service movement lines of users in archives. The study developed new indicators to evaluate records and information service environments by synthesizing all the concepts of information services, service movement lines, barrier-free authentication indicators and the regulations related to archival information services. The study can contribute to find out core problems of service environments in archives through utilizing the new indicators and scales, and to suggest alternatives to improve the environmental conditions for the disabled.
