  • The purpose of this study is to reorganize any rusty image including natural modeling characteristic presented from the natural phenomenon to certain patterns in order to create the fashion design that are valued in the expansion of independently expressional area and modeling art. As a method for research, the author analyzed the concept and characteristic for rust with a base of theoretical background by the documental research and realistic consideration, analyzed its modeling characteristic through domestic and overseas pictures, and e-documents as data, inspected the modeling activities of various categories that various images were adapted related to rust, looked into the concept of Digital Textile Printing and its producing procedure as an expressional method, and analyzed the examples of modern dress and its ornament making use of Digital Textile Printing. The conclusions of this study are as below. First, the rust occurred due to the natural phenomenon is the bond with different material like metal, each unique modeling characteristic occurs and harmony of various patterns has abundant aesthetic value. Second, the author could endowed sensible characteristic and speciality with works and could produce creative fashion design that painting, abstractive pattern and harmony of unique sense of colors are significant by using the image of rust, Third, to emphasize natural feeling of rust, the author could develop creative design that simple silhouette and impressive pattern look significant by reorganizing and applying rust according to repetition, increment, rhythm, contract, emphasis and harmony. Fourth, Digital Textile Printing method is used to induce visual effect by the expression of feels of rust, and the author could express the natural patterns, delicate expression for the feels of a material and unique design of emotion.

  • In this paper, we studied the modeling methods of initial ship structure design results using ship structure product model for concurrent engineering in shipbuilding industry. We suggested two modeling methods which are programming method using CAD commands and Macros for primary structure members. Also, we investigated three modeling procedures which are modeling procedure in unit concept, modeling procedure using version control, and modeling procedure for computer aided process planning. We demonstrated how to use the structure product modeling results in some application fields. Finally, we proposed some ideas for future research.

  • In South Korea, the concept of water environment was expanded to include aquatic ecosystems with the Integrated Water Management implementation. Watershed-scale modeling is typically performed for hydrologic component analysis, however, there is a need to expand to include ecosystem variability such that the modeling corresponds to the social and political issues around the water environment. For this to be viable, the modeling must account for several distinct features in South Korean watersheds. The modeling must provide reasonable estimations for peak flow rate and apply to paddy areas as they represent 11% of land use area and greatly influence groundwater levels during irrigation. These facts indicate that the modeling time intervals should be sub-daily and the hydrologic model must have sufficient power to process surface flow, subsurface flow, and baseflow. Thus, the features required for watershed-scale modeling are suggested in this study by way of review of frequently used hydrologic models including: Agricultural Policy/Environmental eXtender(APEX), Catchment hydrologic cycle analysis tool(CAT), Hydrological Simulation Program-FORTRAN(HSPF), Spatio-Temporal River-basin Ecohydrology Analysis Model(STREAM), and Soil and Water Assessment Tool(SWAT).

  • The present study was to explore what makes adolescents think of themselves as troublemakers even without conduct problems. It was expected that the failure to attain socio-developmental milestones(e.g., healthy relationships with others, academic achievement) would lead to form trait aspect of deviant self-concept. A latent state-trait autoregressive modeling was used to analyze five annual waves of data from 3,449 adolescents taken from the Korean Youth Panel Study. We decomposed trait and state aspect of deviant self-concept and identified significant predictors of trait-like deviant self-concept, while additionally testing for gender differences. Our results showed that conduct problems had greater effect on deviant self-concept among girls compared with boys. Conduct problem was most predictive of deviant self-concept, and yet both poor peer-relations and school failures predisposed adolescents to have deviant self-concept. Low academic achievement conferred risk for trait aspects of deviant self-concept with no gender difference, whereas poor peer relation was more predictive among girls. It highlights the cultural value system underlying self-concept and how and why adolescents think of themselves as troublemakers.

  • This study examined the impact of academic achievement and maternal differential treatment on academic self-concept among adolescent siblings. The sample consisted of 438 students attending middle schools in Seoul (M = 15.2 yrs.), who had a sibling. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling. Academic achievement compared with a sibling and maternal differential treatment had direct effects on academic self-concept, indicating that children with higher academic achievement scores than their sibling and with perceived maternal differential treatment reported a significantly higher academic self-concept. Also, the relationship between academic achievement as compared with a sibling and academic self-concept was mediated by maternal differential treatment. These findings could be used in educational settings as a basis for improving the academic self-concept of early adolescents.

  • The concept models are used for the analysis of joints because they are simple to use and accurate. The modeling parameters of concept models are estimated using the results of experiments performed on the joints. The concept joint models accurately describe the behavior of joints under the loads which are used in the experiments for the estimation of parameters. However, they may not be accurate under the loads which are not used in the experiments. The accuracy can be dependent on the loads which are used in the evaluation of accuracy. In this study, antioptimization is presented to find the worst possible loads, under which the accuracy of concept joint models can be evaluated. The procedure was applied to the accuracy evaluation of concept joint models in an isolated 3-D joint and 2-D joints of a vehicle structure.

  • The main purpose of this study was to examine pathways from maternal parenting behavior to externalizing problem behavior through deviant peer affiliation and self-concept. A sample of 405 high school students (184 boys and 221girls) in the Gyeonggi-do region of South Korea completed questionnaires focusing on maternal monitoring and adolescent deviant peer affiliation, self-concept, and externalizing problem behavior. Data were analyzed by structural equation modeling. The results demonstrated that maternal monitoring indirectly influences adolescent externalizing problem behavior through deviant peer affiliation and/or self-concept. When maternal monitoring was perceived as low by adolescents, they were more involved with deviant peers. This was followed by a more negative self-concept. Finally, negative self-concept resulted in more externalizing problem behavior by adolescents. The results emphasize that deviant peer affiliation plays a crucial role in increasing adolescent externalizing problem behavior.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the developmental patterns of self-concept of pre-adolescents and adolescents by using the longitudinal data originated by the Korean Institute for Research in the Behavioral Sciences (KIRBS). Specifically, using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), the effects of parents and peer groups on the stability and change of self-concept were examined across a 9-year-period. The subjects were 62 children(29 boys and 33 girls) from the KIRBS longitudinal data. The results showed that, peer relationships revealed consistent effects on children's self-concept from pre-adolescence to mid-adolescence. In particular, this influence was most evident at 7 years of age and at 16 years of age. However, parental influence was almost non-existent for 7-year-olds, equivalent to peer relationships for 10-year-olds, and decreased for 16-year-olds. On the whole, parental and peer influence on self-concept gradually decrease in adolescence. Nevertheless, parental and peer influence continue to maintain a certain level of influence from childhood to adolescence. This study provides an understanding of developmental change and stability in the self-concept of Korean adolescents.

  • In order to systematically apply major technologies of the 4th Industrial Revolution to aerospace power development, an aerospace technology model is needed. The Propeller Model, which is an existing aerospace model, is a concept that operates a combination of altitude, speed, and distance, which are basic characteristics of aerospace. However, in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, a new model is needed because numerous technologies are used in convergence. In this paper, a jet engine model is proposed as a new aerospace technology model. Also, we propose a procedure for creating future aerospace weapon systems based on aerospace technology modeling, not on operational capability. The utilization of future battlefields and the study of the concept of advanced weapon systems in developed countries can create a new concept of weapon systems.
