Assessment of $13{\sim}19%Cr$ Ferritic Oxide Dispersion Strengthened Steels for Fuel Cladding Applications

  • 1. Cathodic hydrogen charging considerably reduced the tensile ductility of ODS steels and a 9Cr-2W RMS. The hydrogen embrittlement of ODS steels was strongly affected by specimen sampling orientation, showing significant embrittlement in the T-direction. This comes from the microstructural anisotropy caused by elongated grains of ODS steels in L-direction. 2. The ODS steels contained a higher concentration of hydrogen than 9Cr-2W RMS at the same cathodic charging condition, and the critical hydrogen concentration required to transition from ductile to brittle fracture was in the range of $10{\sim}12$ wppm, which approximately 10 times larger than that of a 9Cr-2W martensitic steel. 3. The ODS steels showed a typical ductile to brittle transition behavior and it strongly depended on the specimen sampling direction, namely L- and T-direction. In T-direction, the SP-DBTT was about 170 L, irrespective of the ODS materials, and L-direction showed a lower SP-DBTT than that of T-direction.

  • 감마선을 이용하여 폴리에스터직포에 methacylic acid와 methyl methacylate를 graft 종합반응시켜서 그 반응성을 보았다. 폴리에스터직포에 acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, methyl methacrylate를 중합반응 시켰을 때 graft 효율은 monomer 혼합용액내에 포함되어 있는 용매의 dielectric constant에 따라 상당한 차이를 나타내었다. Graft 수율은 방사선 선량과 monomer 농도 및 swelling agent의 농도에 좌우되었다. MA graft copolymer의 glass transition temperature (101$^{\circ}C$)와 melting point (238$^{\circ}C$)를 측정하였고, 정전기 효과는 frictional electricity 8,000V에서 half life가 0 sec이었으며, moisture regain는 5.6%, wicking time은 1 sec이었다.

  • 분자량과 methylacrylate 함량이 다른 아크릴로니트릴 공중합체의 dimethylformamide (DMF) 농후용액의 겔화 거동 및 임계 겔농도 (c*)를 조사하였다. 중합체 종류에 관계없이 저온에서 장시간 방치할 경우 방치시간에 따라 점도가 급격히 증가하여 겔화가 진행됨을 알았으며, 중합체의 분자량이 클수록, 방치온도가 낮을수록 그리고 공중합체 중 아크릴로니트릴 성분비가 증가할수록 겔화 진행속도가 증가하였고, 임계 겔농도는 감소하였다. 동적 점탄성 실험에서 겔 용액으로부터 얻은 필름은 진 용액으로부터 얻은 필름과 달리 두 개의 유리전이 영역을 나타내었다. 이러한 결과는 겔화과정에서 atactic 중합체중 입체 규칙적인 block들간의 쌍극자-쌍극자 상호작용에 의한 ordered junction zone의 존재를 강하게 시사하였다.

Effect of Maltodextrin Concentration and Drying Temperature on Quality Properties of Purple Sweet Potato Flour

  • The effects of drying temperature (55, 60, and $65^{\circ}C$) and addition levels of maltodextrin (MD) (10, 20, and 30%) on the physicochemical properties and nutritional quality of purple sweet potato flour were investigated. MD-added flours had higher $L^*$ values, water soluble index, total phenolic, and anthocyanin contents than untreated flour. However, $a^*$, $b^*$ values, water absorption index, and swelling capacity were dependent on the drying temperature and MD concentration. On the other hand, untreated flour had a higher ascorbic acid content compared to the MD-treated flour. Ascorbic acid contents decreased, whereas anthocyanin content was not significantly different, with increasing drying temperatures. MD was positively correlated with phenolic content, anthocyanin, hue angle, and water soluble index. However, there was no correlation between quality parameters and glass transition temperature. The best quality product was obtained when samples were pretreated with MD before drying, regardless of drying temperature.

  • The hydrides in cladding affect the corrosion and tensile properties. In this study corrosion and tensile properties were evaluated with varying the hydrogen concentration. The charged hydrogen contents were ranged from 200 to 1000 ppm. The corrosion rate in water and LiOH solution increases with the hydrogen concentration. The hydride did not affect the corrosion mechanism in the pre-transition region, but in the post-transition region the corrosion rate was accelerated. Cladding E contained higher Niobium content was slowly accelerated compared with other claddings. The yield and ultimate strengths were independent on the hydrogen content. However, the total elongation decreased gradually with increasing the hydrogen content. SEM observation of fracture surface showed that an average of depth of voids decreased with increasing the hydrogen content and small secondary crack are observed.

  • Novel microgels of N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAM)-co-methacrylic acid (MAA) (NIPAM-co-MAA) with different contents of N,N-methylene bis acrylamide (MBA) were prepared by emulsion polymerization technique and were studied by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), dynamic light scattering (DLS) and zeta potential measurement. Effect of pH, temperature and different salts concentration on the microgel particles was investigated. DLS results have shown that the hydrodynamic radius of the microgel increased upon increasing pH and decreased upon increasing temperature. The swelling/deswelling behaviors as determined by DLS showed the ionic repulsions of the carboxyl group of the methacrylic acid and hydrophobic interaction of NIPAM. The effect of various salts on volume phase transition temperature (VPTT) was also investigated. Upon increasing salt concentration, VPTT became broad and shifted to a lower temperature. Electrophoretic mobility measurements showed an increase with increasing pH and temperature at a constant ionic strength.

Short Low Concentration Cisplatin Treatment Leads to an Epithelial Mesenchymal Transition-like Response in DU145 Prostate Cancer Cells

  • Background: Prostate cancer is one of the main causes of cancer death, and drug resistance is the leading reason for therapy failure. However, how this occurs is largely unknown. We therrfore aimed to study the response of DU145 cells to cisplatin. Materials and Methods: Du145 prostate cancer cells were treated with a low dose of cisplatin for 24 h and cell viability and number were determined by MTT assay and trypan blue exclusion assay, respectively. The real time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was used to assess responses to cisplatin treatment. Results: After 24h $2{\mu}g/ml$ treatment did not result in significant reduction in cell viability or number. However, it led to enhanced cancer cell invasiveness. E-cadherin mRNA was reduced, and vimentin, Snail, Slug, metalloproteinase 9 (MMP9) mRNA expression increased significantly, a feature of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). Conclusions: Short time low concentration cisplatin treatment leads to elevated invasiveness of DU145 cancer cells and this is possibly due to EMT.

전이금속 이온에 대한 주석 인산염의 선택적 흡착에 관한 물리화학적 특성 (Physicochemical Characteristics of Selective Adsorption of Tin Phosphate on the Transition metal ions)

  • Tin bis(monohydrogen orthophosphate) monohydrate 물질의 흡착 성질에 관하여 KCl 수용액을 통하여 조사하였다. 금속이온 농도와 pH를 변화시키면서 어떻게 달라지는지 화학평형에 바탕을 두고 data를 분석하였다. 금속이온들의 흡착 data는 Langmuir 흡착식에 넣어 Langmuir 수치들을 얻는 데 사용되었다. Tin phosphate는 산성에서 이온교환 화합물로 작용하였으며, 2가의 전이금속이온에 대해 Cu+2 > Co+2 > Ni+2의 순서로 선택적 흡착성질을 나타내었다. 약한 산성 이온 교환체에서와 같이 금속이온의 교환은 tin phosphate의 선택성을 결정하는데 결정적 역할을 하였다. 모든 경우에서 흡착의 정도는 온도와 농도의 증가와 함께 증가하였다. Lnngmuir 수치들은 흡착과정 동안의 엔트로피, 엔탈피, 자유에너지 변화량같은 열역학적 함수들을 계산하는데 이용되었다.

PMMA/PBA와 PBA/PMMA Core Shell 복합입자의 제조 - 유화제의 영향 - (Manufacture of PMMA/PBA and PBA/PMMA core Shell Composite Particles - Effect of emulsifier -)

  • PMMA와 PBA core 제조 시 개시제는 APS를, 유화제 SDBS의 농도를 0.01에서 0.03 wt% 일 때 전환율이 95.8과 92.3%로 가장 우수하였으며, core-shell 복합입자의 제조 시에는 SDBS의 농도 0.02 wt% 일 때 PMMA/PBA core-shell 복합입자는 전환율이 90.0%, PBA/PMMA core-shell 복합입자는 89.0%가 되었다. FT-IR 분석과 GPC에 의한 평균분자량 측정을 통해 core와 shell 단량체들이 중합되어 있음을 확인하고, 복합입자의 형태는 상온에서의 필름형성정도와 TEM 분석으로 확인하였다. DSC에 의해 유리전이온도를 측정함으로써 일반 공중합체와는 달리 2개의 유리전이온도가 존재하여 core-shell 복합입자가 형성되었음을 알 수 있고, 각각의 core-shell 복합입자의 인장강도와 신율의 측정을 통해 고기능성 접착바인더로서의 사용가능성을 확인하였다.

전이금속이 치환된 반도체 물질의 자기적 특성 연구 (The Study on Magnetic Properties of Transition Metal Doped Semiconductor)

  • 본 연구는 전이금속이 치환된 묽은 자성 반도체의 자기적 특성을 연구하였다. 울츠자이트(wurtzite) 구조를 가지는 화합물은 졸-겔(sol-gel)법을 이용하여 합성하였다. 열역학적 특성과 자기적 특성을 가진 $Zn_{1-x}Co_xO$은 단일상으로 나타났으며, 농도에 따라 다른 특성을 보여주었다. 묽은 자성 반도체의 특성을 조사하기 위해 X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electronic microscope (SEM) 및 vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM)을 사용하였다. 구조 분석을 통해 단일상이 확인된 시료에서는 모두 강자성 특성이 발견되었고, 전이금속 이온의 농도를 5%이상 치환이 되면 강자성이 감소하는 현상이 나타났다.
