An Efficient Distributed Shared Memory System for Parallel GIS (병렬 GIS를 위한 효율적인 분산공유메모리 시스템)

  • 본 논문에서는 GIS 관련 연산을 실시간에 효율적으로 처리하기 위한 분산공유메모리 기반 병렬처리 시스템을 제안한다. 본 논문의 분산공유메모리 시스템은 메시지전달 방식의 분산메모리 MIMD 컴퓨터 상에 소프트웨어 기반 분산공유메모리 모듈을 탑재함으로써 구현되었다. 또한 GIS 연산의 기본이 되는 공간 객체를 공유의 기본 단위로 설정하고, GIS 데이타의 특성을 반영하여 읽기전용 공유데이타 타입을 추가하였으며, 네트워크 오버헤드를 줄이기 위하여 복수의 객체를 한번에 읽어오는 bulk access가 가능하도록 하였다. 본 시스템에서는 GIS 데이타의 효율적인 분배를 위하여 부하균등화 기법으로 guided self scheduling을 사용하였다. 실험결과 본 시스템은 네트워크 캐쉬의 효율적인 활용을 통하여 소프트웨어 기반 분산메모리 시스템의 오버헤드에도 불구하고 MPI 기반 메시지전달 방식에 비하여 향상된 성능을 얻을 수 있었다.Abstract In this paper, we propose a distributed shared memory(DSM) based parallel processing system to process GIS related computations efficiently in real time. The system is based on a software DSM module implemented on top of a distributed MIMD computer. In the DSM system, spatial object, which is a fundamental structure to represent GIS data, is used as a basic unit for sharing, and a read-only shared data type is added to reflect the characteristics of GIS data. In addition, a bulk access to multiple shared data is made possible to reduce the network overhead. A guided self scheduling method is devised for efficient load balancing in distributing GIS data to parallel processors. The experimental results show that the DSM system performs better than an MPI based message-passing system through the efficient utilization of network cache in spite of the system's software overhead.

  • In this report, we have designed a Flexible Manufacturing System(FMS) for Engine-Cylinder block that is composed of maching center, special purpose machine, AGV(Automatic Guided Vehicle), using Micro-Computer and Programmable Controller(PC). From this report, we mostly present hardware features and scheduling software.

Multi-scale Decomposition tone mapping using Guided Image Filter (가이디드 이미지 필터를 이용한 다중 스케일 분할 톤 매핑 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose a multi-scale high dynamic range (HDR) tone mapping algorithm using guided image filter (GIF). The GIF is used to divide an image into a base layer and a detail layer, then the range of the detail layer is reduced with a compression function to enhance the detail information of the image. However, in most cases, an image includes the detail and edge information in different scales. That is to say, it is difficult to represent all detail features under a certain scale, and a single-scale image decomposition method is not free from artifacts around edges. To solve the problems, the multi-scale image decomposition method is proposed. It utilizes the detail layers of several scale to determine how much edge is preserved. Experiment results show that the proposed algorithm has better image performance in preserving edge compared to conventional algorithm.

  • An accurate implant placement with ideal location is significant for long-term success of the implant. An exact evaluation of nearby anatomic structures such as quality of residual bone, an inferior alveolar bone and a maxillary sinus is required. For a prosthetic-driven treatment, planned surgery, precise prosthesis and communication with the patient are significant requisites especially for full-mouth rehabilitation. In this case, the patient with severe alveolar bone resorption had a CT guided surgery supported by CT data and the data from scanning diagnostic wax-up. Afterward, edentulous area was restored by full mouth implant-supported prosthesis by using monolithic zirconia and CAD/CAM technique. This paper reports the outcome of the procedure which was remarkable both esthetically and functionally.

  • With the development of digital dentistry, it is being applied in various ways of dental treatment. This case report presents the definitive prosthesis designed in advance with a re-established vertical dimension and the digital technology, which determined the amount of tooth preparation, in order to preserve as much tooth structure as possible in a patient with pathological wear of the posterior teeth and loss of vertical dimension. For accurate tooth preparation, the guides of the occlusal and axial surfaces were digitally and additively manufactured. Then, aesthetics and anterior guidance were established at the provisional stage. The information of the provisional restoration was delivered to the definitive stage by double scanning. The digital technology, including the virtual planning and the guided tooth removal, produced the definitive restorations satisfactory to both the patient and clinician.

  • This study introduces an undefined self-imaging phenomenon, called here the pseudo-self-imaging phenomenon. The relative phases of the guided modes were used to discover how the pseudo-self-images are formed. The pseudo-self-image was found and measured experimentally. The experimental results showed that both the pseudo-self-image and the 0-dB self-image have similar intensity values and have opposite positions in the lateral direction.

  • With the recent progress in flexible manufacturing systems (FMS) in industry, increasing attention has been given to Automatic Guided Vehicle (AGV) systems. An AGV is a self-powered unit for transporting materials between stations without needing to be controlled by an operator. Such a system has several sensors to recognize the external state, and it is designed to travel between stations automatically without external assistance. To manage each device automatically in real time it requires a distributed controller with a main computer as the host, as well as a number of micro-controllers. In this study, an AGV system with dual motor drive was constructed. A Pentium 4 personal computer was set up as the main host for the distributed control, and this communicated with other micro-controllers in the management of the motor. The speed of each motor was also controlled by a micro-controller.

  • The capitalization of know-how, knowledge management, and the control of the constantly growing information mass has become the new strategic challenge for organizations that aim to capture the entire wealth of knowledge (tacit and explicit). Thus, knowledge mapping is a means of (cognitive) navigation to access the resources of the strategic heritage knowledge of an organization. In this paper, we present a new mapping approach based on the Boolean modeling of critical domain knowledge and on the use of different data sources via the data mining technique in order to improve the process of acquiring knowledge explicitly. To evaluate our approach, we have initiated a process of mapping that is guided by machine learning that is artificially operated in the following two stages: data mining and automatic mapping. Data mining is be initially run from an induction of Boolean case studies (explicit). The mapping rules are then used to automatically improve the Boolean model of the mapping of critical knowledge.

An AGV Driving Control using immune Algorithm Adaptive Controller (면역알고리즘 적응 제어기를 이용한 AGV 주행제어에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, an adaptive mechanism based on immune algorithm is designed and it is applied for the autonomous guided vehicle(AGV) driving. When the immune algorithm is applied to the PID controller, there exists the cast that the plant is damaged due to the abrupt change of PID parameters since the parameters are adjusted almost randomly. To solve this problem, a neural network is used to model the plant and the parameter tuning of the model is performed by the immune algorithm. After the PID parameters are determined in this off-line manner, these gains are then applied to the plant for the on-line control using immune adaptive algorithm. Moreover, even though the neural network model may not be accurate enough intially, the weighting parameters are adjusted to be accurate through the on-line fine tuning. The computer simulation for the control of steering and speed of AGV is performed. The results show that the proposed controller has better performances than other conventional controllers.
