To match the requirements of heterogeneous mobile devices, video objects may be transcoded, which requires considerable CPU resources. Alternatively, multiple versions of the same video may be stored on servers, but this requires a lot of disk space. We formulate the trade-off between the versions that are stored on disk and the need for transcoding. We propose an optimal solution to this formulation based on dynamic programming. Experiments show that our scheme allows up to 68% more clients to be admitted than conventional schemes when a reasonable amount of storage is available.

Eye gaze positions evaluation on computer screen uses the human eye as an input device for computer systems is that it gives low resolution. We proposes a method to determine the eye gaze positions on the screen by using two-eye displacements as the information for mapping, and the perspective projection is applied to map the displacements to a position on a computer screen. The experiments were performed on 20 persons and a 17-inch monitor is used with the screen resolution of 1024x768 pixels. Gaze detection error was 3.18 cm (RMS error), with screen is divided into 5x8 and 7x10 positions on a 17-inch monitor. The results showed 100% and 96% correction, respectively.

With the wide usage of internet in many fields, networks are being exposed to many security threats, such as DDoS attack and worm/virus. For enterprise network, prevention failure of network security causes the revealing of commercial information or interruption of network services. In this paper, we propose a method of prevention of DDoS attacks for enterprise network based on traceback and network traffic analysis. The model of traceback implements the detection of IP spoofing attacks by the cooperation of trusted adjacent host, and the method of network traffic analysis implements the detection of DDoS attacks by analyzing the traffic characteristic. Moreover, we present the result of the experiments, and compare the method with other methods. The result demonstrates that the method can effectively detect and block DDoS attacks and IP spoofing attacks.

We reported an AC PDP structure with grooved front panel dielectric layer. The structure exhibits low breakdown voltage, better luminance, and better endurance to crosstalk in high Xe contents. It also shows less luminous efficacy then conventional structure because of the thinner dielectric layer, but we can apply the higher Xe contents to the grooved dielectric structure, which results in the higher luminous efficacy. We made experiments with the Xe contents from 4 to16% and total gas pressure from 400 to 600Torr. The grooved dielectric structure shows the improvement of 20% luminous efficacy and 17% luminance. The firing voltages lower about 40V at 600Torr and Xe 12, 16%. The discharge characteristics of grooved dielectric structure are verified also with 2D simulation.

Personal computer based measurement and control system was constructed and tested in order to fiexibly apply it to laboratoy experiments in which environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, pH, DO and gases should be measured and controlled. Personal computer FC-80 was successively interfaced to the input-output system made up of PPI, A/D converter, D/A converter, programmable timer and USART boards. To test the system, pH control experiment was executed and the pH of the solution could be measured, expressed on the monitor and controlled at constant value.

This study has experimented and materialized a computational lexical processing model which hybridizes full model and decomposition model as applying lexical acquisition, one of early stages of human lexical processes, to Korean. As the result of the study, we could simulate the lexical acquisition process of linguistic input through experiments and studying, and suggest a theoretical foundation for the order of acquitting certain grammatical categories. Also, the model of this study has shown proofs with which we can infer the type of the mental lexicon of the human cerebrum through fu1l-list dictionary and decomposition dictionary which were automatically produced in the study.

This paper presents a method for soccer scene analysis and coordinate transformation from scene to ground model using a priori knowledge. First, the ground and spectator regions are separated, and various objects are extracted from the separated ground region. Second, an affine model is used for mapping the object positions on the soccer image into the position on the ground model. Problems regarding holes arising from mapping processing are solved using inverse mapping instead of a usual interpolation method. Experiments are performed on a PC using about 100 RGB images acquired at 240＊640 resolution and 3∼5 frames per second.

Face recognition is considered a complex biometrics in the field of image processing mainly due to the constraints imposed by variation in the appearance of facial images. These variations in appearance are affected by differences in expressions and/or occlusions (sunglasses, scarf etc.). This paper discusses incremental Kernel Fisher Discriminate Analysis on sub-classes for dealing with partial occlusions and variant expressions. This framework focuses on the division of classes into fixed size sub-classes for effective feature extraction. For this purpose, it modifies the traditional Linear Discriminant Analysis into incremental approach in the kernel space. Experiments are performed on AR, ORL, Yale B and MIT-CBCL face databases. The results show a significant improvement in face recognition.

In this paper we design the robust impedance controller of the robot manipulator with time delay. The designed controller considers time delay in the position loop and stabilizes the closed-loop system. The performance of a controller can be easily degraded by external disturbances. To improve the performance when external disturbances exist, we use the disturbance observer to handle the disturbances in the velocity loop and provide robustness to the control system. To show the validity of the designed controller, several experiments are performed for the 5-DOF robot manipulator equipped with the wrist force/torque sensor system.

시각 능력에 의한 작업 대상의 인식 기능을 갖는 로보트 시스템에 괼도한 image digiilzer와 기본적인 몇가지 소프트웨어 기법의 개발에 관한 연구 결과를 보고한다. Image digitizer는 CROMEMCO SYSTEM III 마이크로컴퓨터와 C.C.C.T.V. 카메라를 이용하여 개발하였으며, 소프트웨어 기법들은 3차원 물체의 인식에 중점을 두었는데, 이 기법들의 유용성을 간략한 물체인 직육면체에의 응용을 통해 보였다.
