  • This paper presented a location and attitude estimation scheme of a capsule endoscope based on ultrasonic ranging. The scheme comprised eight on-capsule ultrasonic sensors to alleviate measurement errors due to irregularities in human body ultrasonic characteristics. It calculated the coordinate values and angles in a Cartesian coordinate system. The Matlab simulation reflecting random errors yielded the average deviations of 0.8mm in the location and $0.2^{\circ}$ in the attitude angle. These values are far smaller than normal intestine movement ranges inside human body, and will contribute accurate diagnosis of intestine.

  • In the GPS attitude determination system, the baseline length constraints can be used efficiently to reduce the search space. It is possible by adopting the assumptions that the baseline length doesn't change and the true baseline length is precisely known. But in real situation, the baseline length might be changed by many reasons and it is impossible to measure the true baseline length because there exists measurement error and antenna phase centre movement. In order to analyze the effect of the baseline length accuracy, one needs to know the relation between the accuracy of the baseline length and success rates of the integer ambiguity resolution. In this paper, the effect of the baseline length accuracy to the integer ambiguity resolution in the attitude determination system is analyzed by empirical method. The results show that the margins in the baseline length accuracy is less than a few cm which implies that one should take great cares when applying the attitude determination system to the flexible structures.

  • An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is an aircraft controlled by .emote commands from ground station and/o. pre-programmed onboard autopilot system. A navigation system in the UAV provides a navigation data for a flight control computer(FCC). The FCC requires accurate and reliable position, velocity and attitude information for guidance and control. This paper proposes an ADGPS/INS integrated navigation system for a UAV. The proposed navigation system comprises an attitude determination GPS (ADGPS) receive., a navigation computer unit, and a low-cost commercial MEMS inertial measurement unit(IMU). The navigation algorithm contains a fault detection and isolation (FDI) function fur integrity. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed navigation system, two flight tests were preformed using a small aircraft. The first flight test was carried out to confirm fundamental operation of the proposed navigation system and to check the effectiveness of the FDI algorithm. In the second flight test, the navigation performance and the benefit of the GPS attitude information were checked in a high dynamic environment. The flight test results show that the proposed ADGPS/INS integrated navigation system gives a reliable performance even when anomalous GPS data is provided and better navigation performance than a conventional GPS/INS integration unit.

  • This study aims to examine individual perceptions and lived experiences of the Net generation of student teachers and the previous generation of teachers about their technology use in education. The participants of this study include 106 pre-service teachers and 50 in-service teachers from one teacher education university in Korea. Employing a mixed methodology, we first empirically examined the participants' perceptions toward multiple variables related to technology use in education, namely (a) past ICT experiences in schools, (b) personal computer use, (c) constructivist belief, (d) computer efficacy, (e) attitude toward computer in education, and (f) prospective computer use. In addition, we conducted face-to-face interviews with selected participants for the in-depth investigation of their lived experiences about technology use, beliefs, and attitude. Results indicate that there are significant differences between in-service and pre-service teachers in their prior experiences with technology in schools. However, the pre-service and in-service teachers did not differ significantly in their beliefs, attitude and other technology-related variables, which may indicate the danger of generational determinism in the Net Generation debate. The analysis of interview narratives revealed two major themes about the interplay of one's agency and structural changes in the participants' lived experiences with technology use in education: (a) transition from negative past experiences to opportunities for positive computer use, and (b) attitudes formation and change through apprenticeship experiences and structural influences. In conclusion, this study suggests that the Net Generation debate should move beyond dichotomous or techno-centric thinking. There is a critical need to pay more attention to develop deeper understandings of the fundamental diversity existing within the generation itself. Implications for teacher education are also discussed.

  • Recently an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has been widely used for military and civil applications. The role of a navigation system in the UAV is to provide navigation data to the flight control computer (FCC) for guidance and control. Since performance of the FCC is highly reliant on the navigation data, a fault in the navigation system may lead to a disastrous failure of the whole UAV. Therefore, the navigation system should possess a fault detection and isolation (FDI) algorithm. This paper proposes an attitude determination GPS/INS integrated navigation system with an FDI algorithm for a UAV. Hardware for the proposed navigation system has been developed. The developed hardware comprises a commercial inertial measurement unit (IMU) and the integrated navigation package (INP) which includes an attitude determination GPS (ADGPS) receiver and a navigation computer unit (NCU). The navigation algorithm was implemented in a real-time operating system with a multi-tasking structure. To evaluate performance of the proposed navigation system, a flight test has been performed using a small aircraft. The test results show that the proposed navigation system can give accurate navigation results even in a high dynamic environment.

  • In this paper, the real-time attitude determination based Matlab using low-cost receivers was designed and evaluated. The GNSS attitude determination system was implemented to operation in real-time by TimerCallback in MATLAB. The TTM(Transmission Time Misalignment) of U-blox receiver was confirmed through zero baseline tests and this problem was revised. The computed attitude by the high-cost NovAtel receiver was compared to the computed attitude by the low-cost U-blox receiver. As a result of this, the performance of attitude determination systems by low-cost receiver was confirmed. To determine baseline, LAMBDA and BC-LAMBDA for integer ambiguities search methods were used. To confirm suitable integer ambiguity search method in real-time attitude determination algorithm, determined baselines by two methods were compared, and it was confirmed that BC-LAMBDA is more suitable. As a result of this, the operation of real-time attitude determination system was confirmed using 3 low-cost receivers.
