  • In the previous experiment, it was found that OCC pre-treatment with Hobart mixer at 20-25% consistency for 3 hrs or more followed by the application of the equal refining time, caused the increase of tensile strength, burst strength, compressive strength and tear resistance, compared to the no pre-treated. Four completely different fibers, which were Hw-BKP, Sw-BKP, White ledger, and OCC were selected for this experiment to investigate the effect of mechanical pre-treatment process on different fibers. From the experiment, it was found that the mechanical pre-treatment did not decrease fiber length at all, but decreased freeness, com-pared to the no pre-treated, when the same refining time was applied. WRVs of the pre-treated fibers were higher than the no pre-treated at the same freeness level. It was speculated that the mechanical pre-treatment induced only hydrophilic nature of fibers without damaging fiber length by delaminating fiber walls. The fiber surface area and the physical strength differences of handsheets will be discussed in the next publication.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the possibility of Garnet powder as admixture of high strength concrete. The experiment condition is unit water content 160kg/㎥, W/B=30, 35%, S/A=40, 42, 44% and the cement was replaced with Garnet powder to 0, 10% of cement weight on making specimens. The mechanical properties of the fresh and hardened concrete were given as follows. As the time elapsed, the slump loss of 10% replaced concrete was considerably lower than that of 0% replaced concrete. In compressive strength, the 10% replacement case was nearly the same or somewhat high.

  • Recently, as the alternatives to preserve environment such as effective usage of wastes or unusable resources are drawing attentions, researches and measures for the two tasks, which are reuse of waste wood and development of eco-friendly materials, are being examined and established in various fields. However, they are still insufficient. Therefore, in this study, for the efficient application of waste woods and eco-friendly effects, mortar was produced using sawdust as the waste wood and mineral material cement for combination, in order to produce inorganic boards using waste woods. which were made when sawing. This study attempted to suggest a basic material about the physical properties of mortar, which used waste woods, after examining the features of wood mixture rate, water-cement rate, consolation according to the mixture rate of the setting accelerator, specific gravity, compression intensity, and bending intensity as experiment factors.

  • This study has attempted to derived an optimum fiber replacing ratio for practical use by measuring tensile strength and length deformation followed by variation of fiber replacing ratio among the basic characteristics of HPFRCC in order to evaluate the possibility of practical use of HPFRCC. As a result of performing experiment and research, the optimum replacement ratio was determined at the fiber replacing ratio of 1.5% when compressive strength, tensile strength and tensile stress-strain curve.

  • Recently, a growing attention is paid to development of new construction materials. The fiber reinforced Concrete is recognized as one of the most promising new construction materials. A comprehensive experimental study was conducted to explore the mechanical behavior of steel fiber reinforced concrete. The major variables in the experiment were the fiber contents and the lengths of steel fibers. The flexural, tensile, and compressive behavior of steel fiber reinforced concrete were investigated. The present study shows that the strength and ductility are remarkably increased with the increase of fiber content. The rate of strength increase due to steel fibers was found to be the highest in tension, the middle in flexure and the lowest in compression. This indicates that the steel fibers play a major role in increasing the tensile capacity.

  • In the field of composite structures, the use of carbon tube for the confinement of concrete has been arisen since 1990's. However, experimental and analytical studies were limited to those of reinforced concrete and concrete filled steel tube. The carbon tube provides excellent confinement capabilities for concrete cores, enhancing compressive strength and ductility of concrete significantly. The carbon tube has high tensile strength, light weight, corrosion immunity and high fatigue strength properties. Since carbon fiber is an anisotropic material, carbon tube could be optimized by adjusting the fiber orientation, thickness and the number of different layers. In this study, both experimental and analytical studies of axial and lateral behavior of full-scale CFCT (Concrete Filled Carbon Tube) columns subjected to monotonic axial load were carried out using Drucker-Prager theory. And, based on comparison results between experiment results and analytical results, k factor estimation was proposed for effective analysis.

  • In this study, Repair mortar was prepared using CNT powder with improved dispersibility and its characteristics were analyzed. As a result of the experiment, the compressive strength and flexural strength were found to be at similar levels compared to Plain without CNT. In addition, as a result of the drying shrinkage test, it was found that the drying shrinkage amount was decreased due to the effect of CNT mixed into the porous material filling the internal pores of the repair mortar.. The Bond strength of the repair mortar was at a similar level regardless of whether CNT was added or not

  • Using the limestone powder as material that can substitute the clinker, it seems to get positive effect as filler and enhance workability of cement but the substitution amount and chemical properties of it can affect mechanical properties of cement. Thus, in this study, the effect limestone powder that has other properties on cement is evaluated. As a result, the workability enhancing effect was confirmed but deterioration of compressive strength was also checked. Later, with the view of workability, the experiment that the possibility of strength compensation by decreasing unit water weight of limestone powder cement is planned when the limestone powder is used.

  • The changes of physical properties of portland cement pastes and mortars were investigated by addition of sodium gluconate. Flow table experiment and viscosity measurement were took in order to find dispersing effect, and time-dependent changesof viscosity and rates of hydration heat evolution were carried out for the sake of finding retardation effect of hydration. And changes of physical properties of cement pastes and mortars were discussed by setting time, compressive strength and porosity.
