According to the rapid development of the information and communication technology, the demand on the efficient compression technology for the multimedia data is increased magnificently. In this Paper, we designed new compression algorithm structure using wavelet base for the compression of ECG signal and audible signal data. We examined the efficiency of the compression between 2-band structure and wavelet packet structure, and investigated the efficiency and reconstruction error by wavelet base function using Daubechies wavelet coefficient and Coiflet coefficient for each structure. Finally, data were compressed further more using Huffman code, and resultant Compression Rate(CR) and Percent Root Mean Square difference(PRD) were compared with those of existent DCT.

In this paper, we propose a dual-mode mixer to have multi-band radar signal receiver to be compact. The proposed mixer using a anti-parallel diode is operated as a fundamental mixer or sub-harmonic mixer with respect to a control voltage. A fundamental mixer with a control voltage show a conversion loss of -10 dB, 1dB compression point of 2 dBm at X-band. On the other hand, it is performed as a sub-harmonic mixer with a conversion loss of -10 dB, 1 dB compression point of 2 dBm at K-band.
CT scan is reported to have a high risk of cancer due to a relatively high dose among medical radiological examinations. In particular, exposure to radiation to the breast, which is sensitive to radiation, is inevitable during a chest CT scan for female patient. In this study, the dose reduction effect of wearing a compression band during chest CT scans in women was evaluated, and the lifetime attributable risk due to the effective dose exposed during the CT scan was estimated. As a result, when the compression band was used, the effective tube current decreased as the outer perimeter of the chest became smaller, and it was analyzed that the CT dose index and effective dose were also reduced. In addition, the lifetime attributable risk by chest CT scan was found to reduce the cancer risk by 3.2 per 100,000 for all cancers, 0.2 per 100,000 for solid cancer, and 0.8 per 100,000 for breast cancer, based on women in their 30s when using a compression band. It is judged that the risk of cancer can be reduced through the use of appropriate scan parameters and dose optimization measures such as compression bands for future CT examinations.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the change in blood velocity(mm/sec) when compression and/or heat were applied to the knee joint for the elderly who has both normal and painful legs with osteoarthritis(OA). Experimental compression knee band was prepared from the 3D knee data of the average women in 60's. 3D replica of knee was reduced by 7, 10, and 13% from the nude pattern in course direction. Clothing pressure was measured at the front and back of each healthy and painful knee of elderly women for one minute while standing and sitting on the chair. Blood velocity was measured at 13 cm upper from the mid-patella for 15 minutes. Results are as follows: first, compression or heating treatment itself did not change blood velocity of both legs; second, combination treatment with heating and compression was effective to increase blood velocity. In details, for healthy legs, combination treatments with compression by 10% reduced pattern(about 1.3kPa) and heating($43^{\circ}C$) induced the maximal blood velocity, however, for knees with OA, 7% reduced pattern(about 1.0kPa) with simultaneous heating($43^{\circ}C$) was more effective than other cases. These results indicated that pain and spasticity of knee joint with OA could be reduced by applying heat and compression therapy, where the compression level of painful knee should be slightly lower than of healthy leg.
Shear wave velocities of three selected sandy soils subject to drained triaxial compression test were continuously measured using the bender elements. The shear wave velocity during isotropic compression, as widely recognized, increased as confining pressure increased and they were correlated well. However, during drained shearing, the mean effective stress could no further provide a suitable correlation. The shear wave velocity during this stage was almost constant with respect to the mean effective stress. The vertical stress was found to be more favorable at this stage (since confining stress was kept constant). When sample was attained its peak stress, the shear wave velocity reduced and deviated from the previously existed trend line. This was probably caused by the non-uniformity induced by the formation of shear band. Subsequently, void ratios computed based on external measurements could not provide reasonable fitting to the initial stage of post-peak shear wave velocity. At very large strain levels after shear band formation, the digital images revealed that sample may internally re-arrange itself to be in a more uniform loose stage. This final stage void ratio estimated based on the proposed correlation derived during pre-peak state was close to the value of the maximum void ratio.
Aiming at the poor compression quality of traditional image compression coding (ICC) algorithm, a multi-description ICC algorithm based on depth learning is put forward in this study. In this study, first an image compression algorithm was designed based on multi-description coding theory. Image compression samples were collected, and the measurement matrix was calculated. Then, it processed the multi-description ICC sample set by using the convolutional self-coding neural system in depth learning. Compressing the wavelet coefficients after coding and synthesizing the multi-description image band sparse matrix obtained the multi-description ICC sequence. Averaging the multi-description image coding data in accordance with the effective single point's position could finally realize the compression coding of multi-description images. According to experimental results, the designed algorithm consumes less time for image compression, and exhibits better image compression quality and better image reconstruction effect.

A combined DWT and DCT based watermarking technique of low frequency watermarking with weighted correction is proposed. The DWT has excellent spatial localization, frequency spread and multi-resolution characteristics, which are similar to the theoretical models of the human visual system (HVS). The DCT based watermarking techniques offer compression while DWT based watermarking techniques offer scalability. These desirable properties are used in this combined watermarking technique. In the proposed method watermark bits are embedded in the low frequency band of each DCT block of selected DWT sub-band. The weighted correction is also used to improve the imperceptibility. The extracting procedure reverses the embedding operations without the reference of the original image. Compared with the similar approach by DCT based approach and DWT based approach, the experimental results show that the proposed algorithm apparently preserves superiori mage quality and robustness under various attacks such as JPEG compression, cropping, sharping, contrast adjustments and so on.
Video compression based on DCT (Discrete Cosine Transform) has weakpoints of blocking artifacts and pixel loss when the resolution is changed. DWT (Discrete Wavelet Transform) based method can overcome such problems. In SAMCoW (Scalable Adaptive Motion Compensation Wavelet), one of wavelet based video coding algorithm, both intra frames and motion compensated error frames are encoded using EZW(Embedded Zerotree Wavelet) algorithm. However the property of wavelets transform coefficients of motion compensated error frames are different from that of still images. Signal energy is not highly concentrated in the lower bands which is true for most still image cases. Signal energy is rather evenly distributed over all frequency bands. This paper suggests a new video coding algorithm utilizing these properties. Spatial band coding which is known to be very effective for encoding images with relative1y high frequency components and not utilizing the interband coefficients correlation is applied instead of EZW to encode both intra and inter frames. In spatial band coding, the position and value of significant wavelet coefficients in each band are progressively transmitted. Unlike EZW, inter band coefficients correlations are not utilized in spatial band coding. It has been shown that spatial band coding gives better performance than EZW when applied to wavelet based video compression.
In this paper, we will present a lossy data compression method for coding multispectral images. The proposed method uses both spatial and spectra] correlation inherent in multispectral images. First, band 2 and band 6 are vector quantized. Secondly, band 4 is estimated with the quantized band 2 using the predictive coding. Errors of band 4 are encoded at a second stage based on the magnitude of the errors. Thirdly, remaining bands are calculated with the quantized band 2 and band 4. Errors of residual bands are wavelet transformed and then we apply the SPIHT coding on the transformed coefficients. We classify classes without extra information transmitting and then use linear predictor. And errors can be encoded by SPIHT coding at any target rate we are want. It is shown that this method has better performance than FPVQ. Average PSNR rises 0.645 dB at the same bit rate.
