공기분사가 오일미스트 윤활 시스템용 비접촉 시일의 성능 향상에 미치는 영향 (Air Jet Effect on Performance Improvement of Non-Contact Type Seals for Oil Mist Lubrication Systems)

  • Recently, high performance machining center requires special type of sealing mechanism that prevent a leakage of oil jet or oil mist lubrication system. Sealing of oil-air mixture plays important r oles to have an enhanced lubrication for performance machining center. Current work emphasizes on investigations of the air jet effect on the protective collar type labyrinth seal. To improve sealing capabilities of conventional labyrinth seals, air jet is injected against the leakage flow. In this study, an adapted model is introduced to improve sealing capability of conventional non-contact type seals. It has a combined geometry of a protective collar type and an air jet type. Both of a numerical analysis by CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) and experimental measurements are carried out to verify sealing improvement. The sealing effects of the leakage clearance and the air jet magnitude aic studied in various parameters. Gas or liquid has been used as a working fluid for most of nori-contact types seals including the labyrinth seal. However, it is more reasonable to regard two-phase flows because oil mist or oil jet are used for high performance spindle's lubrication. In this study, working fluid is regarded as two phases that are mixed flow of oil and air phase. Both of turbulence and compressible flow model are also introduced in a CFD analysis to represent an isentropic process. Estimation of non-leaking property is determined by amount of pressure drop in the leakage path. Results of pressure drop in the experiment match reasonably to those of the simulation by introducing a flow coefficient. Effect of the sealing improvement is explained as decreasing of leakage clearance by air jetting. Thus, sealing effect is improved by amount of air jetting even though clearance becomes larger

곡면 벽을 지나는 고아음속 공동 유동에 관한 수치해석적 연구 (Numerical Analysis of the High-Subsonic Cavity Flows over a Curved Wall)

  • 공동 유동에 대한 연구는 유동이 균일하게 유입되는 수평면상에 설치된 공동에 대한 연구가 대부분이나, 곡면 벽상에 설치한 공동 유동에 관한 연구에 대해서는 거의 수행되지 않았다. 본 연구에서는 곡면 벽상에 설치한 공동 유동의 특성을 조사하기 위해 수치계산을 수행하였으며, 곡면의 형상, 곡면의 곡률 반경 그리고 유동의 마하수를 변화시켜 고아음속 유동에서의 공동 유동 특성을 조사하였다. 그 결과 공동 바닥의 압력은 L/R이 증가함에 따라 증가하였으며, 유동의 마하수가 높을수록 그 효과가 증가하였다. 공동 저항은 수평면 벽보다 곡면 벽에서 더 높은 값을 가졌다.

흡기포트 분사식 LPG 엔진의 연료량 제어 및 연소 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Combustion Characteristics and the Control on the Fuel Flow Rate of LPG Intake Port Injection Engine)

  • In this paper, characteristics of a port injection type LPG fuel system were investigated to adopt the system to a spark ignition engine through rig test. Engine combustion characteristics for limited conditions and the precise control method of LPG fuel supply were also studied. As a basic experiment, the effects and the relationships of parameters such as orifice area, fuel delivery pressure, fuel temperature and flow coefficient were established. From this, one dimensional compressible flow equation can be applied to control gaseous fuel flow rate by setting pressure difference between vaporizer and manifold to a certain range, for example about 1.2 bar in a naturally aspirated engine. The combustion analysis results of LPG engine were also compared with those of gasoline engine according to spark timing and load change. At part load and stoichiometric condition, the MBT spark timing of LPG fueled engine is retarded by 2$^{\circ}$ - 4$^{\circ}$CA compared to that of gasoline engine. On the contrary, the spark timing of LPG fueled engine can be advanced by 5$^{\circ}$- 10$^{\circ}$ CA at WOT, which results from higher Octane Number and burned fraction of LPG fuel compared to gasoline.

  • Detached Eddy Simulation (DES) is applied to an axisymmetric base flow at supersonic mainstream. DES is a hybrid approach to modeling turbulence that combines the best features of the Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes RANS) and large-eddy simulation (LES) approaches. In the Reynolds-averaged mode, the model is currently based on either the Spalart-Allmaras (S-A) turbulence model. In the large eddy simulation mode, it is based on the Smagorinski subgrid scale model. Accurate predictions of the base flowfield and base pressure are successfully achieved by using the DES methodology with less computational cost than that of pure LES and monotone integrated large-eddy simulation (MILES) approaches. The DES accurately resolves the physics of unsteady turbulent motions, such as shear layer rollup, large-eddy motions in the downstream region, small-eddy motions inside the recirculating region. Comparison of the results shows that it is necessary to resolve approaching boundary layers and free shear-layer velocity profiles from the base edge correctly for the accurate prediction of base flows. The consideration of an empirical constant CDES for a compressible flow analysis may suggest that the optimal value of empirical constant CDES may be larger in the flows with strong compressibility than in incompressible flows.

  • 본 연구에서는 작동유체로서 습공기를 사용하였을때 수반되는 응축에 의한 전 압손실을 실험과 수치해석을 통하여 정체점에 있어서의 습공기의 온도, 과포화도 및 노즐 팽창율의 효과와 액적 질량비 (g)과의 관계로서 구명하였다.

푸아송 방정식을 이용한 격자 적응에 대한 연구 (A Study on Grid Adaptation by Poisson Equation)

  • 본 연구에서는 한곳에 적응효과가 중복되는 것을 피하고 해의 변화율이 상대 적으로 큰 곳에 대해 대등한 격자 적응효과를 주는 방법을 연구하였다. 전 유동장에 서 해의 변화율을 계산하여 하한값(threshold) 보다 큰 값을 갖는 cell에 대해 같은 크기의 가중함수(weight function) 값을 갖게 한다. 하한값(threshold)은 전체 cell 수에 대해 상위의 변화율을 갖는 cell의 백분율(percentage)로부터 구한다. 이 방법 은 하한값을 직접 대입해야 한다는 단점은 있으나 변황율이 상대적으로 큰 영역에 대 해 고른 격자 적응 효과를 줌으로 해서 격자 적응의 회수를 줄일 수 있으며 해의 발달 에 긍정적인 격자를 생성할 수 있다.

  • In the accompanying paper, part I, we have presented the physical modeling and the associated numerical analysis of injection molding process with a compressible viscoelastic fluid model. In part II, the effects of compression stage in the injection/compression molding process are presented. Numerical results showed that the injection/compression molding process reduced birefringence as compared with the injection molding process. In this respect, one can conclude that the injection/compression molding process is more suitable for manufacturing the precise optical products than the injection molding process. In the distribution of birefringence, the effect of packing procedure in injection/compression molding process was found to be similar to that in injection molding process. From the numerical results, we found that birefringence becomes smaller as the melt temperature gets higher and the closing velocity of the mold gets smaller with the flow rate and the mold temperature affecting the birefringence insignificantly. As far as the distribution of density is concerned, the flow rate, the melt temperature, and the closing velocity of the mold had insignificant effect on the distribution of density in comparison with the mold temperature.

  • KSR-III 축소형 엔진을 원형으로 하는 8채널형 칼로리미터의 냉각성능해석을 수행하였다. 축대칭 압축성 해석에 의한 연소실 벽으로의 열유속을 이용하여 3차원 냉각유로 내부의 열전달 해석을 수행하였다. 연소실벽으로의 열유속은 문헌에서 제시하는 수준으로 확인되었으며 열전달 해석을 통하여 칼로리미터 개발과 운용에 필요한 냉각수의 압력강하, 냉각수 온도상승 및 연소실벽의 최고온도를 제시하였다.

  • LPG 분사시스템의 경우 액상 및 기상 인젝터를 사용하는 두 가지 방식이 있으며, 가스 분사 방식의 경우 내구성 및 가격 측면에서 장점이 있지만 가스의 압축성 특성으로 인한 정밀 유량제어에 어려움이 있다. 본 연구에서는 가스분사 방식 LPG 연료 분사 시스템에서 정밀 유량 제어를 위한 수단으로 헬름홀쯔 공진기를 사용하는 방안을 제시하였다. 그리고 상용 유동해석 프로그램인 Flowmaster를 사용하여 대상 자동차의 연료 시스템에 대해 유동해석을 통해 최적의 공진기를 설계방안을 설계하였으며, 공진기 설치 후 개선 효과를 제시하였다.
