In previous study, to investigate the impression of the compound lighting based on the AC-Model at the full-size room, the impressions of various compound lighting were completed as compared with that of the uniform lightings through the comparison method (a paired comparison) by Semantic Differential scaling. Also, we examined the effect of the supplementary lighting type increasing the lights at the side of the window and the blind-control lighting type, and they were compared with the existing compound lighting type. In results, pared comparison of the compound lighting and the uniform lighting, indicates that the impression of the compound lighting is generally similar to that of the uniform lighting when there are same ratios of the light from the window. Based on these results, we suggest that the AC-Model might be applied to various conditions. And we also introduce the method for daylighting that it is possible to reduce discomfort glare and to improve visual impressions as the supplementary type and blind-control type on the compound lighting. And it was found that electric power consumption of the compound lighting room was lower than that of the uniform lighting room when as same lighting ratio of the compound lighting and the uniform lighting from the window was provided or there was the lighting distribution simulated to same light ratio from the window. Since the method of the ACModel was described in the experimental condition, additional studies should be performed to determine if this model could be applied to different window configurations, lighting layout and types of a room.
The purpose of this study is to understand the change of impression by comparing the uniformity lighting with the compound lighting. In previous study, we proposed a light controlling method to harmonize daylight from a window and artificial lights from a ceiling and obtained the results to support our method. We referred this method as the Adjusted Compound-Lighting Model (AC Model). The experiment is carried out with the scaled-models and mock-up spaces that were supposed to be an office space. One is lit by the uniform lighting and the other by the compound lighting in each experimental space. In order to present varying illuminance distributions, the two variables were used in this study. Subjects were asked to evaluate the point of difference by semantic differential rating on their overall impression after comparing with two rooms. The results showed that the impressions of compound lighting were more positive score than that of uniformity lighting on the items of 'dim-bright', 'dislike-like', 'artificial-natural' and 'closed-open', and that there was no significant difference in impressions between two spaces on other items.
The model claims that lighting in a room with a side-window are perceived as harmonious when the overall light distribution in the room is well approximated by a compound of lights from the window and the entire ceiling. The experiment is carried out with the scaled-models and mock-up spaces that were supposed to be an office space. One is lit by the uniform lighting and the other by the compound lighting in each experimental space. In order to present varying illuminance distributions, thetwo variables were used in this study. One was the ratio of thelight from the window and ceiling in the standard and evaluation box. The standard box was provided by the ratio of 20% to 40% from the window and 80% to 60% from the ceiling as two lighting ratio patterns [Wu20(=Cu80) and Wu40(=Cu60)]. And the evaluation box was provided by the light ratio of 0% to 40 from the window and 100% to 60% from the ceiling [Wcp0(=Ccp100), Wcp20(=Ccp80) and Wcp40(=Ccp60)]. The other variable was themean illuminance level in both boxes. Two level of mean illuminance (700lx and 300lx) were used in this experiment. Each lighting condition was established at equal horizontal mean illuminance level, held constant near 700lx or 300lx in both boxes. Both of them were similar in the shape of distribution when there were same ratios of lights from the window and the ceiling.
In our former study, we proposed that the AC-Model might be applied to various conditions. And we also introduced the method for daylighting that it was possible to reduce discomfort glare and to improve visual impressions as the supplementary type and blind-control type on the compound lighting. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between physical elements and psychological evaluation of lighting space. The study was made using an full-size space, which were equipped with various luminaries. We investigated the relationship between subjective evaluation and characteristics of light distribution and showed the high correlation between the evaluation rating and luminance distribution over whole room.
We present the results of a combined magnetization, dc and magneto-transport study of the n = 2 Ruddlesden-Popper compound $Ca_3Mn_2O_7$ The negative thermoelectric powder is observed. The magnetic measurement data show that there is sharp magnetic transition at 134 K. However, the de and magnetoresistance of $Ca_3Mn_2O_7$ show no particular transport. Transport properties of the compound $Ca_3Mn_2O_7$ are interpreted in terms of activated hopping of small polarons in non-adiabatic regime. Polarons are most probably formed around $Mn^{3+}$ sites created by oxygen sub-stoichiometry.
The last century of lighting has been dominated by incandescent, fluorescent and high-intensity discharge(HID)light sources. In the late 1970's, after green LEDs were invented, Dr. Ching Tang at Eastman Kodak discovered that sending an electrical impulse through carbon compound caused such material glow. Present day LED commercial packages have reached 100 lm/W, comparable to the efficacies of fluorescent and certain HID lamps. LED products available today are market as "Green-Industry" but actually low light output compared to typical light sources. The combination of high price and low light output make them a poor replacement for current technology. It is very important to compare new LED products to the most efficient conventional technology that could be used for any specific application. As LED technology advances, costs decrease, and efficiency improves, LEDs will build market share in the general illumination market.
In this paper, it was attempted to analyze the optimal design of light emitting diode (LED), a source of back light unit (BLU). LED is beginning with commercialized red LED which is made by GaAsP compound semiconductor, and has been developed focusing on liquid crystal panel. In order to get the optimal design, optical simulation was made by analyzing luminosity shape, reflector angle, chip depth, and chip position of LED lighting. Final results show that the proposed LED characteristics were useful to increase light efficiency and it has been proven by distribution chart for actual exposed light on the light guide panel (LGP).
The cinema costume designers carry out the creative works in a different way from the commercial fashion designers generating the new trends by season or year for a number of people. Costumes created by the cinema costume designers are for the people acting in the film screens such as heroes, heroines or extras. The cinema costume designers should not miss the overall flow of a cinema. Moreover, the prominent designers have to devise the costumes livening up every scene. Most cinemas with the prudent interests and attention on the costumes are favored by the public and gain the commercial success. In particular, the cinemas emphasize the visual effects such as setting, lighting and computer graphics and require the substantial budgets for preparing the costumes regardless of genres, while all other industrial fields will be the same. Such efforts are to deliver the meaning and aesthetics that the cinemas intend to show through the designs, colors and textures of costumes closed up in each scene. The costumes in cinemas are another linguistic system and have the symbolic form of compound and meaningful communication used by the directors. The costume design is required to produce the costumes that liven up the characteristics of heroes or heroines as well as to fit for the general artistic effects of films. Moreover, it has to express the characters in the films using the costumes suitable for the film genres. Cinema costumes are defined and refined, and the process can be angst-ridden. Each frame of film is a canvas and has its own proscenuium. Every garment worn in a theatrical production is a costume. Before an actor speaks, his wardrobe has already spoken for him. From the most obvious and flamboyant show clothing, to contemporary clothes using subtle design language, costume design plays an integral part in every film production. Costume design is a vital tool for storytelling. Costumes have always had enormous influence on world fashion. Costume designers are passionate storytellers, historians, social commentators, humorists, psychologists, trendsetters and magicians who can conjure glamour and codify icons. Costume designers are project managers who have to juggle ever-decreasing wardrobe budgets and battle the economic realities of film production. Costume designers are artists with pen and paper, form, fabric and the human figure.
