Epoxy/BaTiO$_3$composite film type capacitors with excellent stability at room temperature, uniform thickness, and electrical properties over a large area were successfully fabricated. We fabricated composite capacitor films with good film formation capability and easy process ability, from ACF-resin as a matrix and two kinds of BaTiO$_3$powders as fillers to increase the dielectric constant of the composite film. The crystal structure of the powders and its effects on dielectric constant of the films were investigated by X-ray diffraction. DSC and dielectric properties tests were conducted to decide the right curing temperature and the optimum amount of the curing agent. As a result, the capacitors of $7{\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ thick film with 10nF/cm2 and low leakage current were successfully demonstrated.
$Cu-Al_20_3 $ composite powders were prepared by hydrogen reduction of $Cu^{2+}$ from ammoniacal copper sulfate solution on alumina core using autoclave. The copper reduction rate and the properties of copper layer were investigated using Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM), X-ray diffractometer, size and chemical analyzers. The reduction rate of $Cu^{2+}$ showed the maximum value when the molar ratio of [$NH_3$]/[$Cu^{2+}$] was 2. In order to prevent the agglomeration of Cu powder and ethane reduction rate, $Fe^{2+}$ and anthraquinone which act as catalysis were added in the solution. Catalysis was effectively chanced with the addition of two elemerts at a time. Optimum conditions obtained in this study were hydrogen reduction temperature of 205$^{\cire}C$, stirring speed of 500 rpm and hydrogen partial pressure of 300 psi. Obtained $Cu-Al_20_3 $ composite Powders were found to have the uniform and continuous copper coating layer of nodule shape with 3~5 $\mu$m thickness.
The advantages of Thermal sprayed coatings as a replacement for cast iron liners are reduced weight, better heat transfer and reduced cost. One of the most important performance attributes of a cylinder bore coating is its wear resistance, since it must survive the abrasive sliding of both the piston rings and the piston skirt. In this study, composite powders were prepared by ball milling of Al-13Si-3Mg(wt%) alloy with SiC particles. The concentrations of SiC were 40 and 60wt%. The composite powders were sprayed using Metco-9MB plasma torch. Plasma sprayed coatings were heat-treated at 500℃ for 3 hours. The wear resistances of the plasma sprayed coatings were found to improve with heat treatment and superior to the commercially available G.C.I.(gray cast iron). AlSiMg-40SiC heat-treated coatings showed the best wear resistance in this study.
A method to simultaneously synthesize and consolidate $Ti_5Si_4 \;and\; Ti_5Si_3$-20 vol%Nb composite from powders of Ti, Si and Nb was investigated. Combustion synthesis was carried out under the combined effect of an electric field and mechanical pressure. Highly dense $Ti_5Si_4 \;and\; Ti_5Si_3$-20 vol% Nb with relative densities up to 98% was produced from powders of Ti, Si and Nb under the application of 60 MPa pressure and 3000A current on the reactant.

The kneading process and formulations of feedstock obviously affect the quality of MIM products. In the present work, the rheological behaviour of the composite MIM feedstock, metal matrix (Cu) with few additions of ceramic powders $(Al_2O_3)$, was measured by a self-designed/manufactured simple capillary rheometer. Experimental results show that the distribution between powders and binder is more uniformly when blending time increased. Though high powder loading will increase the feedstock viscosity, the fluidity reveals relatively stable through the load curves of extrusion. Besides, the temperature-dependence of viscosity of the feedstock approximately follows an Arrehnius equation. Basing on Taguchi's method, the kneading optimization conditions and the rheological model of the feedstock were established, respectively.
The purpose of this study is to establish powder metallurgy (P/M) fabrication processes for high performance 2XXX Al composites reinforced with SiC whiskers. Rapidly solidified 2XXX Al powders produced by commercial atomization technique were mixed with SiC whiskers. The results of mixing processes indicated that fluidized zone mixing technique was considerably effective for the large scale production of the mixture of Al powders and whiskers. In order to consolidate these $Al-SiC_w$ mixtures into $Al-SiC_w$ composite billets, a vacuum hot press was set up, and hot processing variables were investigated. Using the hot pressing temperature of $620^{\circ}C$ under the pressure of 50 MPa, good quality $Al-SiC_w$ composite billets having relatively homogeneous microstructure and sound Al/sic interfacial bonding were obtained. Composite billets were then extruded to bars having relatively homogeneous microstructures at the extrusion temperature of 450~500$^{\circ}C$ under the extrusion pressure of 700~ 1000 MPa. Mechanical properties of the extruded bars were found to be comparable with those of the composite processed by Advanced Composite Materials Corp. To improve mechanical properties of the composites, elimination of coarse intermetallic compounds, uniform distribution of reinforcements, and minimization of whisker breakage are suggested.
In the present study, the focus is on the synthesis of titanium carbide/cobalt composite powder by the spray thermal conversion process using metallic salt solution as the raw materials. Two types of oxide powders of Ti-Co-O system were prepared by the spray drying of two types of metallic salt solutions : titanium chloride-cobalt nitrate and $TiO_2$ powder-cobalt nitrate solutions. These oxide powders were mixed with carbon black, and then these mixtures were carbothermal reduced under a flowing argon atmosphere. The changes in the phase structure and thermal gravity of the mixtures during carbothermal reduction were analysed using XRD and TG-DTA. In the case of using the titanium chloride-cobalt nitrate solution, it could not be obtained TiC/Co composite powder due to contamination of the impurities during the spray drying of the solution. However, in tile case of using the $TiO_2$ powder-cobalt nitrate scullion, TiC-15 wt. %Co composite powder could be synthesized by the spray thermal conversion process. The synthesized TiC-15 wt. %Co composite powder at 120$0^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours has average particle size of 150 nm.
Single walled carbon nanotubes were mixed with various metal powders by mechanical ball milling and sintered by spark plasma sintering processes. Two compositional (0.1 and 1 vol%) of the single walled carbon nanotubes were dispersed onto the pure aluminum, 5052 aluminum alloy, pure titanium, Ti6Al4Vanadium alloy, pure copper, and stainless steel 316L. Each composite powders were spark plasma sintered at $600^{\circ}C$ and well synthesized regardless of the matrices. Vickers hardness of the composite materials was measured and they exhibited higher values regardless of the carbon nanotubes composition than those of the pure materials. Moreover, single walled carbon nanotubes reinforced copper matrix composites showed highest enhancement between the other metal matrices system. We believe that low energy mechanical ball milling and spark plasma sintering processes are useful tool for fabricating of the carbon nanotubes-reinforced various metal matrices composite materials. The single walled carbon nanotubes-reinforced various metal matrices composite materials could be used as an engineering parts in many kind of industrial fields such as aviation, transportation and electro technologies etc. However, detail strengthening mechanism should be carefully investigated.
Graphite-Ni composite powders were synthesized by mechanical alloying(MA) and spray drying(SD). Fabricated powders as well as commercial graphite-Ni powders were thermally sprayed on mild steel substrates using high velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) thermal spray process and flame thermal spray process. The effects of several process parameters on related properties in thermally sprayed coatings have been investigated and correlated with microstructures in this study. The results indicated that the desired properties can be obtained when commercial powders were applied using HVOF process, while coating properties in case of MA powder application were inferior to those in HVOF process in so far. However, it is suggested that property enhancement can be obtained if the fraction of hexagonal graphite phase can be increased in mechanically alloyed powders.

Considering the idea that some properties, especially the mechanical properties of $Ni_3Al$ at ambient temperature can be improved by adding of some substitutional/interstitial elements, our goal was to obtain these materials starting from mechano-composites powders. In this aim, using mechanical alloying techniques three type of mechano-composite powders starting from elemental powders were obtained. Then, by reactive sintering in argon atmosphere at temperature over $900^{\circ}C$, alloyed $Ni_3Al$ materials were realized. This paper presents our research results regarding the microstructural aspects and phase formation in obtained materials.
