  • This study attempted to analyze the factors that influence the participation of beneficiary companies in the government's defense industry promotion support project. To this end, experimental data were analyzed by constructing a prediction model consisting of highly important variables in beneficiary company decisions among various company information using the decision tree model, one of the data mining techniques. In addition, various rules were derived to determine the beneficiary companies of the government's support project using the analysis results expressed as decision trees. Three policy measures were presented based on the important rules that repeatedly appear in different predictive models to increase the effect of the government's industrial development. Using the analysis methods presented in this study and the determinants of the beneficiary companies of the government support project will help create a sustainable future defense industry growth environment.

  • This study aimed to address the issue that about 92% of domestic BIM orders only focus on the design/drafting stage and the absence of government BIM implementation guidelines for maintainers. Despite the ability of BIM to reduce maintenance LCC by around 20%, such guidelines remain insufficient. In this study, we examined the COBie requirements by comparing 45 maintenance information and Autodesk Revit (2022) inputs with COBie data. As a consequence, the necessary elements correlated with 54 pieces of data across eight spreadsheets (Contact, Space, Type, Component, System, Spare, Job, Document) and there were 13 gaps in information between the construction and maintenance. These were subsequently integrated into the ontology and their associations were evaluated with the Reasoner tool. From the results inferred, it is apparent that the COBie requirements have a correlation with one another. It is essential to carry out a survey among practitioners and a pilot operation to assess performance in the future. This research is anticipated to furnish pivotal data for the implementation of an effective property upkeep system.

  • Purpose - Finding an optimal path is an essential component for the design and operation of smart transportation or logistics network. Many applications in navigation system assume that travel time of each link is fixed and same. However, in practice, the travel time of each link changes over time. In this paper, we introduce a new transportation problem to find a latest departing time and delivery path between the two nodes, while not violating the appointed time at the destination node. Research design, data, and methodology - To solve the problem, we suggest a mathematical model based on network optimization theory and a backward search method to find an optimal solution. Results - First, we introduce a dynamic transportation problem which is different with traditional shortest path or minimum cost path. Second, we propose an algorithm solution based on backward search to solve the problem in a large-sized network. Conclusions - We proposed a new transportation problem which is different with traditional shortest path or minimum cost path. We analyzed the problem under the conditions that travel time is changing, and proposed an algorithm to solve them. Extending our models for visiting two or more destinations is one of the further research topics.

  • Researches on the recognition of handwritten script have been conducted under the assumption that the isolated recognition units are provided as inputs. However, in practical recognition system designs, providing the isolated recognition unit is an challenge due to various writing syles. This paper proposes an approach for segmenting words from lines of unconstrained handwritten text, without help of recognition. In contrast to the conventional approaches which are based on physical gaps between connected components, clues that reflect the author's writing style, in terms of spacing, are extracted and utilized for the segmentation using a simple neural network. The clues are from character segments and include normalized heights and intervals of the segments. Effectiveness of the proposed approach compared with the conventional connected component based approaches in terms of word segmentation performance was evaluated by experiments.

  • The design modification of problematic component in a given vibration path is disallowed in order to sacrifice other performances such as ride comport or handling of a vehicle. For this, the paper presents a new contribution analysis based on transmissibility ratio (TR) of acceleration in a definite vibration path to find a proper candidate for design modification. The new contribution analysis is based on the fact that the sensitivity of TR over a small design change is inversely proportional to the magnitude of TR. The new methodology can significantly relieve efforts of time-consumming modal analysis for detail modal information. The theory of proposed contribution analysis is simulated with five-degree-of-freedom open vibration path and confirms that the contribution result is well matched with the variance of TR over a dynamic change on a vibration path.

  • The segmentation of characters is an important step in the automatic recognition of handwritten text. This paper proposes the segmenting method of off-line handwritten Hangul. The suggested approach is based on the structural characteristics of Hangul. The first step extracts the local features. connected component and strokes from the imput word. In the second step we identify the class of strokes. The third segmenting step specifies WRC(White Run Column) before consonant or horizontal vowel. If the segment is longer than threshold, the system estimates segmenting columns using the consonant-vowel information and column features, and then finds a cornered boundary along the strokes within the estimated segmenting columns.

  • A virtual chassis platform for Fuel Cell Hybrid Electric Vehicles(FCHEV) has been developed, and a virtual platform similar to the actual system has been composed. In addition, major components such as a motor, fuel cell and battery for the virtual platform have been constructed by using a mathematical formulation. The FCHEV virtual platform using a detailed model based on the mathematical formula is capable of simulating various conditions according to changes of the control logic and component modules to evaluate performance, considering the vehicle dynamic characteristics. Usability of the mathematical model has been verified by comparative simulations according to the motor current control variation. In addition, reliability of the developed virtual chassis platform has been verified by simulating its fuel consumption with the UDDS(Urban Dynamometer Driving Schedule) FTP-72 velocity profile.

  • The carbon nanowall (CNW) is a carbon-based nanomaterials and it was constructed with vertical structure graphenes and it has the highest surface density among carbon-based nanostructures. In this study, we have checked the growth properties of CNW according to the substrate angle. Microwave plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) system was used to grow CNW on Si substrate with methane ($CH_4$) and hydrogen ($H_2$) gases. And, we have changed the substrate angle from $0^{\circ}$ to $90^{\circ}$ in steps of $30^{\circ}$. The planar and vertical conditions of the grown CNWs according to the substrate angle were characterized by a field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). In case of the growth angle increases, our experimental results showed that the length of the CNW was shortened and the content of carbon component was decreased.

  • Microbes such as bacteria, fungi, archaea, protists, and viruses are ubiquitous and people are exposed to them continuously. Endotoxin is a component of the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria and a potent proinflammaotry substance. When a person is exposed to environmental endotoxin, an innate immune response is initiated upon the initial recognition and this response produces various inflammatory mediators and recruits inflammatory cells to the exposed tissues. A purified chemical form of endotoxin is called lipopolysaccharide (LPS), and the lipid A portion of the molecule is a biologically active moiety. Exposure to endotoxin may result in various complex health effects depending on time, route, and dose of exposure, as well as host susceptibility. Gene-environment interactions play important roles in health effects of endotoxin exposure, e.g. development or aggravation of asthma. To accurately assess exposure to endotoxin in environmental or epidemiologic studies, methods of sampling, extraction, and analysis must be carefully selected since the selected methods may substantially affect analytical results and there is no internationally-agreed standard method to date. The lack of a standardized method hampers the establishment of exposure-response relationships. While an internationally-agreed health-based exposure limit does not exist, the Dutch Expert Committee on Occupational Safety recently recommended $90EU/m^3$ as a health-based occupational exposure limit. The current article reviews various scientific issues on how we measure environmental endotoxin and the health effects of endotoxin exposure.
