익단간극이 원심압축기 성능에 미치는 영향에 관한 수치해석적 연구 (Numerical Study on Tip Clearance Effect on Performance of a Centrifugal Compressor)

  • Effect of tip leakage flow on through flow and performance of a centrifugal compressor impeller was numerically studied using CFX-TASC flow. Seven different tip clearances were used to consider the influence of tip clearance on performance. Secondary flow and loss factor were evaluated to understand the loss mechanism inside the impeller due to tip leakage flow. The calculated results were circumferentially averaged along the passage and at the impeller exit for quantitative discussion. Tip clearance effect on Performance could be decomposed into inviscid and viscous components using one dimensional equation. The inviscid component is related with the specific work reduction and the viscous component is related with the additional entropy generation. Two components affected Performance equally. while efficiency drop was mainly influenced by viscous loss. Performance and efficiency drop due to tip clearance were proportional to the ratio of tip clearance to exit blade height. A simple model suggested in the present study predict performance and efficiency drop quite successfully.

  • 가스터빈 엔진의 성능은 그 구성품 성능 특성에 큰 영향을 받는다. 보통 이러한 구성품 성능 특성은 여러 조건에서의 수많은 실험을 통해 얻을 수 있지만 그것은 제작사의 고유 재산이기 때문에 쉽게 제공되지 않는다. 그렇기 때문에 보통 성능 덱을 이용하거나 소유하고 있는 엔진 성능 맵을 스케일링 하여 사용한다. 하지만 이러한 방법은 탈설계점에서 오차를 보인다. 이에 본 연구에서는 소형 가스터빈 엔진 실험 장치를 구성하여 몇 구간에서의 실험을 통해 데이터를 축적하고 이를 이용하여 구성품 성능 맵을 축척하는 방법을 제시하였다. 그리고 프로그램을 이용하여 대상 엔진의 정상상태 성능 모델을 구성하여 실제 측정 데이터와 새롭게 생성된 구성품 맵을 사용했을 경우, 그리고 기존의 방법을 이용한 경우를 비교하였다.

직교요인을 이용한 국소선형 로지스틱 마이크로어레이 자료의 판별분석 (Local Linear Logistic Classification of Microarray Data Using Orthogonal Components)

  • 본 논문에서는 마이크로어레이 (microarray) 자료에 판별분석을 적용 시 나타나는 고차원 및 소표본 문제의 해결방법으로서 직교요인을 새로운 특징변수로 사용한 비모수적 국소선형 로지스틱 판별분석을 제안한다. 제안된 방법은 국소우도에 기반한 것으로서 다범주 판별분석에 적용될 수 있으며, 고려된 직교인자는 주성분 요인, 부분최소제곱 요인, 인자분석 요인 등이다. 대표적인 두 가지 실제 마이크로어레이 자료에 적용한 결과 직교요인들 중에서 부분최소제곱 요인을 특징변수로 사용한 경우 고전적인 통계적 판별분석보다 향상된 분류 능력을 나타내고 있음을 확인하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 레이다 표적식별 성능을 향상시키기 위하여 고해상도 거리측면도(High Resolution Range Profile: HRRP)에 포함된 잡음을 효과적으로 제거하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 기법은 HRRP에 포함된 잡음의 통계적인 특성과 EMD(Empirical Mode Decomposition) 알고리즘을 이용하여 HRRP에 포함된 잡음을 효과적으로 제거한다. 잡음 제거 실험 결과에서는, 본 논문에서 제안한 기법이 잡음을 효과적으로 제거하면서, 표적 식별 성능을 크게 향상시키는 것을 수치적으로 확인할 수 있었다.

Adaptive Application Component Mapping for Parallel Computation Offloading in Variable Environments

  • Distinguished with traditional strategies which offload an application's computation to a single server, parallel computation offloading can promote the performance by simultaneously delivering the computation to multiple computing resources around the mobile terminal. However, due to the variability of communication and computation environments, static application component multi-partitioning algorithms are difficult to maintain the optimality of their solutions in time-varying scenarios, whereas, over-frequent algorithm executions triggered by changes of environments may bring excessive algorithm costs. To this end, an adaptive application component mapping algorithm for parallel computation offloading in variable environments is proposed in this paper, which aims at minimizing computation costs and inter-resource communication costs. It can provide the terminal a suitable solution for the current environment with a low incremental algorithm cost. We represent the application component multi-partitioning problem as a graph mapping model, then convert it into a pathfinding problem. A genetic algorithm enhanced by an elite-based immigrants mechanism is designed to obtain the solution adaptively, which can dynamically adjust the precision of the solution and boost the searching speed as transmission and processing speeds change. Simulation results demonstrate that our algorithm can promote the performance efficiently, and it is superior to the traditional approaches under variable environments to a large extent.

Enhanced Independent Component Analysis of Temporal Human Expressions Using Hidden Markov model

  • Facial expression recognition is an intensive research area for designing Human Computer Interfaces. In this work, we present a new facial expression recognition system utilizing Enhanced Independent Component Analysis (EICA) for feature extraction and discrete Hidden Markov Model (HMM) for recognition. Our proposed approach for the first time deals with sequential images of emotion-specific facial data analyzed with EICA and recognized with HMM. Performance of our proposed system has been compared to the conventional approaches where Principal and Independent Component Analysis are utilized for feature extraction. Our preliminary results show that our proposed algorithm produces improved recognition rates in comparison to previous works.

  • One of the most difficult problems in depth control for underwater vehicle is the effect of seaway disturbance. When a underwater vehicle operates in a near surface environment, the seaway generates essentially two types of stochastic disturbances that influence the boat notion. One component of the seaway forces is of large magnitude with a relatively narrow-band, first order component. The other component is generally of somewhat smaller magnitude, second order component. Since the magnitude of the first order component is generally such greater than the compensating force that can be generating by the planes, it is undesirable for the controller to generate a control command. In this paper, we used LPC(Linear Predictive Coding) processing to uncontrollable seaway disturbance. This method can be used extensively in sensor signal processing of underwater vehicles.

  • This study is based on the evaluation of a single component injection type adhesive repair material and a new 2 component type used in leakage of underground concrete structures. The studies showed that based on different mix ratio of the 2 component type adhesive sealant comprised of an asphalt main and latex mixture agent the viscosity of the material compound differed significantly. Based on a permeability testing, injection and economic efficiency, and performance, the appropriate ratio was determined to be 6:1 and was proceeded to the KS F 4935 evaluation method. The 2 component type adhesive sealant uses a static mixer and a cartridge type container for the injection procedure and was able to satisfy the evaluation criteria outlined in the KS F 4935 standard.

Some Results on Availability of Repairable Component and Repairable Coherent System

  • Availability is an important measure of performance of a repairable component. In this paper, the explicit expression for the availability of a repairable component, which is subject to the policy II(Age Replacement Policy) of Barlow and Hunter (1960), is obtained and the existence of the steady state availability is shown. The steady state availabilities of the model are also obtained for the cases when the mean of the minimal repair time is increasing at a geometric rate or linearly increasing, In order to show the importance and the utility of the obtained result, we also consider an illustrative example of the repairable coherent system whose components are repairable, and the obtained results are applied to derive the steady state availability of the whole system. In this situation, we can see that the condition of the existence of the steady state availability for each component is essential. Some remarks on the optimal replacement policy that maximizes the steady state availability are also given.

  • BOM(Bill of Materials) is a listing or description of raw materials, parts, and assemblies that define a product. In order to evaluate the performance of proposed BOM management system, which is very important to maintenance information system of urban transit. We develop component based BOM data and rule-set to design data structure that is mutually independent and integrated efficiently. It divides data whit management interface using component technology. The component based master BOM have advantage in database size and flexibility. Flexibility is measured as the number of updating records in accordance with added new product or engineering change. In database size, component based BOM is the best. we develop master BOM management system in web environment.
