The yoke, a component of conventional motor-driven power steering system, often contains welding defects from its manufacturing process. To eliminate these defects, the precision cold forging process has been tried. In this study, the double-action complex forging has been used to manufacture a torsion joint yoke. The backward extrusion proved faster than the forward extrusion in forging of the product. The double-action complex forging process utilized an upper die composed of a punch, a punch guide, a disc spring and a coil spring. The forged material pushes up the punch guide, and then the disc spring and the coil spring balances the backward extrusion force. Consequently, the flow of material was essentially in the forward direction, resulting in a successful forging operation. The forging load of Al 6061-T6 was higher than that of the automotive structural hot rolled plate.

An assembly modeling system, with which a designer can interactively create an assembly of components ready for the dynamic analysis, has been developed. In this system, an assembly model is created from the mating conditions between the components in the assembly, and then most information required for the dynamic or kinematic analysis packages are derived. For this development, the following problems have been solved; the creation of assembly data structure, the derivation of the joint information, the inference of each component's position, and the creation of the joint coordinate systems. Through this work, the designer can easily model an assembly by assigning mating conditions, and check the dynamic or kinematic performance with the automatic creation of inputs for the assembly analysis packages.

In this paper, in order to impart the aging condition of the parts, by configuring the cycle of temperature from low temperature was performed by applying the aging conditions for vehicle cockpit module. The reason for the selected modules of the cockpit vehicle parts, because the joint occurrence typical components of the room component is a first module and ceiling cockpit module. After setting the excitation profile using the BSR exciter only that this is for the module degradation after the initial and grasp the change in the dynamic characteristics of the modules based on the before and after deterioration may be made in the module, grasp the noise generating position I measured the noise and proximity. Was also visualized on the position of the joint is generated using a sound camera to objective results occurring where the joint is selected through subjective evaluation.
The logarithmic decrement method has been long used to estimate damping ratios in systems with only one modal component such as linear single degree of freedom (SDOF) mechanical systems. This paper presents an application of a methodology that uses joint time-frequency distribution (JTFD) as input, instead of the raw signal, to systems with several vibration modes. A most important feature of the present approach is that it can be applied to a system with time-varying damping ratio. Initially the precision and robustness of the method is determined using a synthetic model with multiple harmonic components, one of them displaying a time-varying damping ratio, subsequently the results obtained from experiments with a reduced model are presented. A comparison is made between the results obtained with this methodology and those using the classical technique of Least Squares Complex Exponential Method (LSCE) in order to highlight the advantages of the former, such as, good precision, robustness and excellent performance in extreme cases, e.g., when very low frequency components and time varying damping ratio are present.

Normally, multiple socket-outlet is manufactured with soldered, welded permanent connection (termination). Because this procedure is very non-environmental and requires many labor forces, many companies skip this process. To solve this these problems, this research had to design permanent joint type multiple socket-outlet, develop safer multiple socket-outlet than is sold in markets. Progressing this research, we took 3 steps. First, we had to design device for fixing a frame suitable for multiple socket-outlet. Second, this multiple socket-outlet must pass fundamental standards through international standard (IEC 60884-1) and Korean standard (K 60884-1) tests. Third, it had to pass both several mechanical and electrical tests which is more strict than fundamental standards and vibration and impact tests following KS standards for enhancing its safety. After finishing 3 steps, we could obtain objective and fair data, develop environmental permanent joint type multiple socket-outlet without soldering crimped connection.
This paper presents the flexural behaviour of stainless steel beam-to-tubular column joints with extended endplates subjected to static loading. Moment-rotation relationships were investigated numerically by using Abaqus software with geometric and material nonlinearity considered. The prediction of damages among components was achieved through ductile damage models, and the influence of initial geometric imperfections and residual stresses was evaluated in large fabricated stainless steel joints involving hollow columns and concrete-filled columns. Parametric analysis was subsequently conducted to assess critical factors that could affect the flexural performance significantly in terms of the initial stiffness and moment resistance. A comparison between codes of practice and numerical results was thereafter made, and design recommendations were proposed for further applications. Results suggest that the finite element model can predict the structural behaviour reasonably well with the component damage consistent with test outcomes. Initial geometric imperfections and residual stresses are shown to have little effect on the moment-rotation responses. A series of parameters that can influence the joint behaviour remarkably include the strain-hardening exponents, stainless steel strength, diameter of bolts, thickness of endplates, position of bolts, section of beams and columns. AS/NZS 2327 is more reliable to predict the joint performance regarding the initial stiffness and moment capacity compared to EN 1993-1-8.
Purpose : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of amount of cantilever in intra-crown according to implant fixture position on mechanical strength of internal conical joint type implant. Materials and Methods : Internal conical joint type implant fixture, abutment screw, abutment was connected and gold alloy prostheses were fabricated and cemented on abutment. For fatigue fracture test, the specimens were loaded to the 350 N, 2,000,000 cycle on 3, 4, 5, and 6 mm off-center of gold alloy prostheses. The fracture pattern of implant component was observed. Results : No fatigue fracture found on 3 and 4 mm group. But initial crack pattern found on 3 specimens of 4 mm group. Fatigue fracture found on all specimens of 5 mm group. But complete fracture was not observed. One specimen of 6 mm group fracture completely. Implant fixture fracture wax not observed. Conclusion : The mechanical failure of implant prostheses increased with the loading area farther from center of implant fixture. To reduce mechanical problem of internal joint type implant, surgical and prosthetic consideration is needed.
In cases of extensive prosthetic restoration, correction of occlusal contact is often needed, as it is the essential component for a successful restoration. If occlusal contact is given incorrectly, various symptoms of occlusal trauma can occur of which temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD) is one of them. As one of the common symptoms of TMD, patients may suffer with masticatory muscle disorder and temporomandibular joint pain. This case presents satisfactory results for the improvement of masticatory muscles and temporomandibular joint pain of a TMD patient, caused by incorrect occlusal contact of the restoration, by replacing the prosthesis after occlusion correction.

Integration of active and passive waveguides is an essential component of the photonic integrated circuit and its elements. Butt joint is one of the important technologies to accomplish it with significant advantages. However, it suffers from high optical loss at the butt joint junction and need of accurate process control to align both waveguides. In this study, we used beam propagation method to simulate an integrated device composed of a laser diode and spot size converter (SSC). Two SSCs with different mode properties were combined with laser waveguide and optical coupling efficiency was simulated. The SSC with larger near field mode showed lower coupling efficiency, however its far field pattern was narrower and more symmetric. Tapered passive waveguide was utilized for enhancing the coupling efficiency and tolerance of waveguide offset at the butt joint without degrading the far field pattern. With this technique, high optical coupling efficiency of 89.6% with narrow far field divergence angle of 16°×16° was obtained.
We introduce the Energy-Based Blind Separating (EBS) algorithm for extremely fast separation of mixed speech signals without loss of quality, which is performed in two stages: iterative-form separation and closed-form separation. This algorithm significantly improves the separation speed simply due to incorporating only some specific frequency bins into computations. Simulation results show that, on average, the proposed algorithm is 43 times faster than the independent component analysis (ICA) for speech signals, while preserving the separation quality. Also, it outperforms the fast independent component analysis (FastICA), the joint approximate diagonalization of eigenmatrices (JADE), and the second-order blind identification (SOBI) algorithm in terms of separation quality.
