Meta-analysis of Information Security Policy Compliance Based on Theory of Planned Behavior (정보보안 정책준수에 대한 메타분석: 계획된 행동이론을 중심으로)

  • With widespread use of information technologies the importance of information security has been heightened. Security policies which deal with fundamental direction of information security are critical elements of information security management. Numerous studies have been conducted on users' intention to comply security policies. They were based on various theoretical foundations and the theory of planned behavior(TPB) was the most frequently used. This research employed one of the quantitatively synthesizing meta-analytic techniques called Two-Stage Structural Equation Modeling to investigate factors influencing information security policy compliance behavior based on TPB. Analysis results indicated that all three factors of TPB were significantly influencing the behavioral intention. Moreover, the overall fit indices of structural model exhibited satisfactory level.

  • In Intensive Care Units (ICUs), where severely ill patients are treated, importance of reducing Hospital Acquired Infection (HAI) cannot be overstated. One of the simplest and most effective actions against HAI is proper hand hygiene (HH) behavior of Health Care Workers (HCWs). However, compliance varies across different cultures and different job types of HCWs (physicians, residents and nurses). This study aims to understand determinants of HH behavior by HCWs' job types in Korea. Qualitative analysis was performed based on Reasoned Action Approach style interviews with staff physicians, residents and nurses across 7 teaching hospitals. We found that all HCWs strongly believe HH is important in reducing HAI. There were, however, job type-specific HH behavior modifying factors; staff physicians stated feeling pressure to be HH behavior role model. Residents identified Quality Improvement team that measured compliance as a facilitator; a notable barrier for residents was senior physicians not washing their hands, because they were afraid of appearing impudent to their seniors. Nurses designated their chief nurse as a key referent. All participants mentioned heavy workload and lack of access to alcohol-based sanitizer as situational barriers, and sore and dry hand as deterrents to HH compliance.

  • The usage of Building Information Modelling (BIM) in building projects has enabled improvement in project planning, implementation and collaboration process amongst various stakeholders within architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry. However, variations exist in the current practices of BIM implementation and coordination process in the industry. These variations result in inconsistent degree of BIM use across the construction industry. This inconsistency gives rise to several managerial and technological challenges such as data interoperability issues and purposeful integration and exchange of information within the BIM components. In order to tackle the issue, it is essential to analyse the different BIM approaches employed by the industry practitioners. BIM guidelines serve as a critical link between the BIM model, and its subsequent execution. They therefore provide the best reflection of BIM application and processes. This research paper aims to address the variations existing in BIM practices across the construction industry. It includes an extensive study of 21 existing, publicly available BIM-based guidelines in order to establish an understanding of the present state of practice and deduce issues and concerns related to them. All guidelines analysed in this paper are first categorised based on authorship and the release date for efficient comparison. The points of similarity and difference between them are thereby realized and outlined. In addition, the transition of project implementation process from traditional methods to BIM technology is also explained. The existence of inconsistencies in the BIM guidelines reviewed in this paper reflects the need of a BIM 'Code Compliance Check'. The Code Compliance Check will serve as a regulatory project guideline that will further improve the potential of BIM by incorporating a consistent BIM modelling methodology for the entire construction industry.

Elastic Model of Twisted Yarn Composites (Twisted Yarn 복합재료의 탄성계수 예측모델)

  • The stiffness model has been proposed to predict elastic constants of twisted yarn composites. The model is based upon the unit cell structure, the coordinate transformation, and the volume averaging of compliance constants for constituent materials. For the correlation of analytic results with experiments, composite samples of various yarn twist angle were tested. The samples were fabricated by the RTM process using glass yarns and epoxy resin. The correlations of elastic constants showed relatively good agreements. The model provides the predictions of the three-dimensional engineering constants, which are valuable input data for the analytic characterization of textile composites made of twisted yarn.

  • Today, IT governance has also become a subject of attention along with recent technologies such as ITSM (IT Service Management), PPM (Project Portfolio Management) and Compliance. At the national level, the market is fairly recent. and therefore, lacks detailed research in the field. Models specifically related to EIM has not yet been presented to this day, hence, firms that are considering EIM as a potential part of their information management system may fall into a state of disorder in the process of its implementation. To this end, this research attempts to construct an IT governance model for EIM based on existing models, surveys and interviews. In particular, E-discovery has been applied as means of protecting information assets and its use as evidence. In addition, by applying the research model to a particular global firm and then assessing its documentation management system, the overall feasibility of the research model has been tested.

  • The method of analyzing flexible mechanisms with clearances was studied considering flexibility of beams in the mechanism using finite elements. Both ends of a beam were modeled as free following Dubowsky's impact pair model. Instead some force constraints were imposed at imposed at the connections between adjoining links. Coulomb model has been developed using dry frictions in place of tangential damping forces in the impact pair model and the contact compliance and damping coefficient approximated in a form of root function were used. As examples, impacts of a rigid ball in a cylinder, impact beam model and four-bar mechanisms made up of three flexible links with clearance connections were simulated numerically. The results from examples showed similar but a little bit smaller magnitude of impact forces compared with published studies.

  • A functional suspension model is proposed as a kinematic describing function of the suspension that represents the relative wheel displacement in polynomial form in terms of the vertical displacement of the wheel center and steering rack displacement. The relative velocity and acceleration of the wheel is represented in terms of first and second derivatives of the kinematic describing function. The system equations of motion for the full vehicle dynamic model are systematically derived by using velocity transformation method of multi-body dynamics. The comparison of field test results and simulation results of the ADAMS/Car demonstrates the validity of the proposed functional suspension modeling method. This model is suitable for real-time vehicle dynamics analysis.

  • The problem surrounding methods of implementing the software testing process has come under the spotlight in recent times. However, as compliance with the software testing process does not necessarily bring with it immediate economic benefits, IT companies need to pursue more aggressive efforts to improve the process, and the software industry needs to makes every effort to improve the software testing process by evaluating the Test Maturity Model integration (TMMi). Furthermore, as the software test process is only at the initial level, high-quality software cannot be guaranteed. This paper applies TMMi model to Automobile control software testing process, including test policy and strategy, test planning, test monitoring and control, test design and execution, and test environment goal. The results suggest improvement of the automobile control software testing process based on Test maturity model. As a result, this study suggest IT organization's test process improve method.

  • The purpose of this study is to outline the analysis procedure for evaluating the performance of moment resisting steel frames. For this purpose, three ordinary moment resisting frames are designed in compliance to UBC 1994. The evaluation is performed by nonlinear static procedures using two analytical models. Only one analytical model using panel element can reflect the panel zone deformation explicitly. The limit values in FEMA 273 are used as guidelines of predicted demand parameters by which the performance of OMRFs may be assessed.

Simulation of Cardiovascular System for an Optimal Sodium Profiling in Hemodialysis

  • The object of this study is to develop a mathematical model of the hemodialysis system including the mechanism of solute kinetics, water exchange and also cardiovascular dynamics. The cardiovascular system model used in this study simulates the short-term transient and steady-state hemodynamic responses such as hypotension and disequilibrium syndrome (which are main complications to hemodialysis patients) during hemodialysis. It consists of a 12 lumped-parameter representation of the cardiovascular circulation connected to set-point models of the arterial baroreflexes, a kinetic model (hemodialysis system model) with 3 compartmental body fluids and 2 compartmental solutes. We formulate mathematically this model in terms of an electric analog model. All resistors and most capacitors are assumed to be linear. The control mechanisms are mediated by the information detected from arterial pressoreceptors, and they work on systemic arterial resistance, heart rate, and systemic venous unstressed volume. The hemodialysis model includes the dynamics of urea, creatinine, sodium and potassium in the intracellular and extracellular pools as well as fluid balance equations for the intracellular, interstitial, and plasma volumes. Model parameters are largely based on literature values. We have presented the results on the simulations performed by changing some model parameters with respect to their basal values. In each case, the percentage changes of each compartmental pressure, heart rate (HR), total systemic resistance (TSR), ventricular compliance, zero pressure filling volume and solute concentration profiles are represented during hemodialysis.
