The osteological development in Sebastes koreanus is described and illustrated on the basis of 32 larvae [6.11-11.10 mm body length (BL)] and a single juvenile (18.60 mm BL) collected from the Yellow Sea. The first-ossified skeletal elements, which are related to feeding, swimming, and respiration, appear in larvae of 6.27 mm BL; these include the jaw bones, palatine, opercular, hyoid arch, and pectoral girdle. All skeletal elements are fully ossified in the juvenile observed in the study. Ossification of the neurocranium started in the frontal, pterotic, and parietal regions at 6.27 mm BL, and then in the parasphenoid and basioccipital regions at 8.17 mm BL. The vertebrae had started to ossify at ~7.17 mm BL, and their ossification was nearly complete at 11.10 mm BL. In the juvenile, although ossification of the pectoral girdle was fully complete, the fusion of the scapula and uppermost radial had not yet occurred. Thus, the scapula and uppermost radial fuse during or after the juvenile stage. The five hypurals in the caudal skeleton were also fused to form three hypural elements. The osteological results are discussed from a functional viewpoint and in terms of the comparative osteological development in related species.

This study was performed to measure the accuracy of different gypsum materials by a white light dental scanner. A master model with the prepared lower full arch tooth was used. The type IV and scannable stone were used for 20 stone casts (10 casts each) duplicated a master model of mandible. The distance between the reference points were measured and analyzed by the Delcam $Copycad^{(R)}$ (Delcam Plc, UK) 3D graphic software. The t-student test for paired samples were used for statistical analysis. The mean differences to master model for type IV stone and scannable stone model were 0.29~0.56 mm, and 0.17~0.35 mm, respectively. There were statistical differences in dimensional accuracy for full arch impression between the master model and type IV/scannable stone (p<0.05). Two different gypsum materials showed clinically acceptable accuracies of full arch digital impression produced by them. Besides, in both gypsum materials, the differences to the master model detected appear to provide enough accuracy for clinical application.
The neutral zone technique is an alternative approach for the construction of complete dentures on highly atrophic ridges with history of denture instability. This technique achieves two objectives. First, the teeth will not interfere with the normal muscle function, and second, the force exerted by the musculature against the denture is more favorable for stability and retention. In this case of a 78-years-old female patient with severely atrophic ridges who had been using unstable complete dentures, the neutral zone impression technique was used to increase the stability and the retention of dentures. The neutral zone for both arch was located with modeling compound. After the arrangement of artificial teeth within the neutral zone, the external impression was taken to determine the tissue surface. The final dentures showed enhanced stability and retention and the patient was satisfied with the new dentures with respect to functional and esthetic aspects.
Fifteen dry dentate and complete mandible samples from the White Rasquera goat breed were studied for symmetry. Thirty-one landmarks were digitally located on the images of the lateral and medial aspects of each hemimandible. Distances between these landmarks allowed the evaluation of the whole hemimandible and also the neural mandible. In the studied samples, the mandible was rather symmetrical, especially in the medial neural part, and in general, there was no side dominance. Only the diastema differed significantly between the sides, and this was related to the rostral part (incisive arch). The incisive region was the least symmetrical region of the caprine mandible, indicating a modular structure more conservative for the neural part. If unsigned asymmetry is interpreted as a measure of developmental stability, then the studied breed presented a marked ability to develop in good fitness despite the harsh environment. The measurements presented here can also be used as a reference for researchers designing experimental studies, especially on mandibular catch-up growth, and as an aid for zooarchaeologists comparing results from dead animals with those from living goat populations.
The Takayasus arteritis is the obstructive disease in the principal branches arising from the aortic arch, and it can cause circulatory disturbances in the head or arms. We have experienced a case of complete obstruction of the left subclavian artery, the patient was undergone surgical repair with Knitted-Dacron patch graft between the left common carotid artery and the left subclavian artery. After operation, there were no symptoms except hypertension, and also no postoperative complications were seen. In the postoperative aortogram, the patency of the graft was good. The postoperative course was eventful and he has been in good conditions up to now so far.
Occasionally, complete dentures constructed in accord with the best clinical and laboratory procedures fail to serve successfully. These failures probably result from present ignorance of the occlusion and functions of living tissues. Nonetheless, in each case, the whole treatment procedure, both clinical and laboratory, must be reexamined in order to ascertain the point of failure. One can employ a technique more intelligently, and often improve on it, if the reasons for its use are known. When one is guided only by a recipe, the outcome will be doubtful whenever conditions are not the same as in the recipe. In this manuscript, occlusal consideration of edentulous patients will be discussed thoroughly.
This study reports our early experience with thoracoscopic division of vascular rings. Three patients were reviewed; their ages at surgery were 25 months, 4 years, and 57 years. All patients were suffering from complete vascular rings involving combinations of the right aortic arch, left ligamentum arteriosum, Kommerell's diverticulum, and retroesophageal left subclavian artery. The median surgical time was 180.5 minutes, and the patients showed immediate recovery. Three complications, namely chylothorax, transient supraventricular tachycardia, and left vocal cord palsy, were observed. Our early experience indicates that thoracoscopic division of a vascular ring may provide early recovery and could be a promising operative choice.
The branchial anomaly is a lateral neck mass commonly seen by otolaryngologists. Depending on its anatomic location, branchial anomaly can be classified into first, second, third and fourth. The fourth branchial cleft anomaly is very rare entity and until now, only 35cases have been reported worldwide. It may present as neck cyst, recurrent neck abscess, thyroiditis. Combined with barium swallow esophagogram and computed tomography scan can aid in diagnosis of this rare disease entity. Complete excision of the entire epithelial tract combined with ipsilateral thyroid lobectomy remains the mainstay of treatment. Authors experienced a case of lateral neck mass which was anatomically presumed to be the fourth branchial cleft cyst. We report this case with the related literature.
Appropriate clinical examination and imaging may lead to early diagnosis and treatment of the shoulder impingement syndrome, thus preventing progressing to a complete tear of rotator cuff. The impingement syndrome was caused by repeated entrapment and compression of supraspinatus tendon between the proximal end of humerus inferiorly, particullary its greater tuberosity. and one or m <)re component of coracoacromial arch superiorly. The purpose of this study is to critically, evaluate the result of twenty-five consecutive subacromial decompression with impingement syndrome and to assess the diagnostic accuracy of MR imaging by using oblique coronal and oblique sagittal plan. These patients were treated by arthroscopic subacromial decompression after their pains failed to improve with conservative therapy over three month. The average follow up was 25 month(range, 12 to 50). The mean age was 43 year old. The results were rated based on subjective response and the UCLA shoulder rating scale of the result. Ten patients(40%) were rated as excellent, 11patients(44%) were good. while four patients(16%) were fair. Radiologic evaluation suggested that the oblique sagittal plan of MRI can be helpful in evaluation of bony and soft-tissue structure of the coracoacromial arch and determining depth of bony resection. There were no infection or neurovascular injury. In reviewing our result, it appears that the arthroscopic subacromial decompression can be successful sugery for shoulder impingement syndrome and diagnostic accuracy of supplimentary oblique sagittal view of MRI was relatively higher than oblique coronal view alone for apprqpriate surgical plan.
This study was aimed to help the construction of naturally dental prosthesis by investigation of the factors affecting on the attrition position and attrition angle of maxillary canines. Therefore 163 complete cast of maxillary and mandibular extracted from the student of K. college were subjected for this study, and result through the study are as follows. 1. None attrite rate of the maxillary canine was 7%, of examined teeth. 2. Throughout mesiodistal attrition of 1) Throughout mesiodistal attrition area of the maxillary canines showed that mesial area and mid area of cusp was more frequence in attrition than distal area of it. 2) Sex, dental arch type, vertical overlap, horizontal overlap, did not affect significantly to throughtout mesiodistal attrition statistically 3. Througout labiolingual attrition area 1) Throughout labiolingual attrition area of the maxillary canines showed that attrition of the from lingual to labioncisal edge was more frequence than it of linguoincisal edge 2) It showed that attrition of the from lingual to labioincisal edge was more frequence when the length of horizontal overlap is shorter, by horizontal overlap 3) The attrition of the from lingual to labioincisal edge in maxillary left canines showed that male was more frequence in attrition than female. 4) Dental arch type, vertical overlap, did not affect signioficantly to labiolingual attrition, statistically. 4. Attrition angle 1) It showed that average attrition angle of the maxillary right canines were $19{\pm}11.02$ dagree, and it of left canines were $18{\pm}11.83$ degree. 2) It showed that famale have a bigger attrition angle than male, by sex. 3) It showed that attrition angle was bigger when the length of horizontal ovelap is bigger, by horizontal overlap.
