This study was to monitor changes of leaf area index (LAI) and normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), calculated from ground-based remotely sensed high resolution reflectance spectra, during rice (Oryza sativa L. cv. TNG 67) growth so as to determine their relationships and the optimum time period to use these parameters for yield prediction. Field experiments were conducted at the experimental farm of TARI to obtain various scales of grain yield and values of LAI and NDVI in the first and the second cropping seasons of 2001-2002. It was found that LAI and NDVI can be mutually estimated through an exponential relationship, and hence plant growth information and spectral remote sensing data become complementary counterparts through this linkage. Correlation between yield and LAI was best fitted to a nonlinear function since about 7 weeks after transplanting (WAT). The accumulated and the mean values of LAI from 15 days before heading (DBH) to 15 days after heading (DAH) were the optimum time period to predict rice yield for First Crops, while values calculated from 15 DBH to 10 DAH were the optimal timing for Second Crops.

The CHIMPS2 survey is to extend the JCMT HARP $^{13}CO/C^{18}O$ J=3-2 Inner Milky-Way Plane Survey (CHIMPS) and the ${12}^CO$ J=3-2 survey (COHRS) into the inner Galactic Plane, the Central Molecular Zone (CMZ), and a section of the Outer Plane. When combined with the complementary $^{12}CO/^{13}CO/C^{18}O$ J=1-0 survey at the Nobeyama 45m (FUGIN) at matching 15" resolution and sensitivity, and other current CO surveys, the results will provide a complete set of transition data with which to calculate accurate column densities, gas temperatures and turbulent Mach numbers. These will be used to: analyze molecular cloud properties across a range of Galactic environments; map the star-formation efficiency (SFE) and dense-gas mass fraction (DGMF) in molecular gas as a function of position in the Galaxy and its relation to the nature of the turbulence within molecular clouds; determine Galactic structure as traced by molecular gas and star formation; constrain cloud-formation models; study the relationship of filaments to star formation; test current models of the gas kinematics and stability in the Galactic center region and the flow of gas from the disc. It will also provide an invaluable legacy data set for JCMT that will not be superseded for several decades. In this poster, we will present the current status of the CHIMPS2.
The present paper is concerned with a delamination analysis of a multilayered frame structure that exhibits non-linear creep behavior. A solution to the strain energy release rate is obtained by considering the time-dependent complementary strain energy in the frame. The mechanical behavior of the frame is treated by using a non-linear stress-strain-time relationship. The time-dependent solution to the strain energy release rate obtained in the present paper holds for a multilayered frame made of arbitrary number of adhesively bonded layers of different thicknesses and material properties. Besides, the dealamination is located arbitrary along the thickness. The solution to the strain energy release rate is verifiedby applying the J-integral approach. A parametric study of the strain energy release rate is carried-out. Two three-layered frame configurations are analyzed in order to evaluate the influence of the delamination crack location along the thickness on the strain energy release rate. The strain energy release is analyzed also for the case when a notch is cut-out in the inner delamination crack arm. The results obtained are compared with these for a frame without a notch.
In this paper, we report the fabrication of the tip-on-gate of a field-effect-transistor (ToGoFET) probe using a standard complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) process and the performance evaluation of the fabricated probe. After the CMOS process, I-V characteristic measurement was performed on the reference MOSFET. We confirmed that the ToGoFET probe could be operated at a gate voltage of 0 V due to channel ion implantation. The transconductance at the operating point (Vg = 0 V, Vd = 2 V) was 360 ㎂/V. After the fabrication process was completed, calibration was performed using a pure metal sample. For sensitivity calibration, the relationship between the input voltage of the sample and the output current of the probe was determined and the result was consistent with the measurement result of the reference MOSFET. An oxide sample measurement was performed as an example of an application of the new ToGoFET probe. According to the measurement, the ToGoFET probe could spatially resolve a hundred nanometers with a height of a few nanometers in both the topographic image and the ToGoFET image.
In this paper, fracture analysis of a continuously inhomogeneous arch structure with two longitudinal cracks is developed in terms of the time-dependent strain energy release rate. The arch under consideration exhibits non-linear creep behavior. The cross-section of the arch is a rectangle. The material is continuously inhomogeneous along the thickness of the cross-section. The arch is loaded by two bending moments applied at its end sections. The mechanical behavior of the material is described by using a non-linear stress-strain-time relationship. The two longitudinal cracks are located symmetrically with respect to the mid-span of the arch. Due to the symmetry, only half of the arch is considered. Time-dependent solutions to strain energy release rate are obtained by analyzing the balance of the energy. For verification, time-dependent solutions to the strain energy release rate are derived also by considering the time-dependent complementary strain energy. The evolution of the strain energy release rate with the time is analyzed. The effects of material inhomogeneity, locations of the two cracks along the thickness of the arch and the magnitude of the external loading on the time-dependent strain energy release rate are evaluated.
This paper deals with delamination analysis of non-linear viscoelastic multilayered beam subjected to bending in the plane of the layers. For this purpose, first, a non-linear viscoelastic model is presented. In order to take into account the non-linear viscoelastic behaviour, a non-linear spring and a non-linear dashpot are assembled in series with a linear spring connected in parallel to a linear dashpot. The behaviours of the non-linear spring and dashpot are described by applying non-linear stress-strain and stress-rate of strain relationships, respectively. The constitutive law of the model is derived. Due to the non-linear spring and dashpot, the constitutive law is non-linear. This law is used for describing the time-dependent mechanical behaviour of the beam under consideration. The material properties involved in the constitutive law vary along the beam length due to the continuous material inhomogeneity of the layers. Solution of the strain energy release rate for the delamination is obtained by analyzing the balance of the energy with considering of the non-linear viscoelastic behaviour. The strain energy release rate is found also by using the complementary strain energy for verification. A parametric study is carried-out by using the solution obtained. The solutions derived and the results obtained help to understand the time-dependent delamination of non-linear viscoelastic beams under loading in the plane of layers.

In the field of architecture, concrete and steel bars are the most common and popular combinations. The relationship between the two in a structure is a complementary good that increases in utility when consuming both materials at the same time. However, the combination of the two, which has been perceived as semi-permanent, often faces repairs or reconstruction without its lifespan reaching decades. There are a number of deterioration factors at work for the reason for this phenomenon. Among them, the neutralization of concrete in particular refers to the process in which calcium hydroxide inside concrete reacts with carbon dioxide and loses alkalinity, which creates a corrosive environment for rebars inside concrete, causing serious damage to concrete. In this study, we intend to use a multi-physical analysis program using finite element analysis method to analyze the degree of carbonation according to the internal temperature and concentration of carbon dioxide in concrete, thereby contributing to the prediction of long-term neutralization of concrete and the research related to measures for neutralization of concrete.
Open innovation has attracted significant attention from both academics and practitioners. However, theoretical and empirical researchers disagree on how open innovation improves firm performance. The inconsistent results reported in the literature may be attributed to the fact that they failed to provide an integrative view of how to make use of internal and external knowledge to enhance innovation performance. Furthermore, although the adoption value of innovation approaches varies depending on firm size and IT capabilities, their impacts have not been adequately taken into consideration. Drawing on complementarity theory, this study revisits the research problem and develops eight hypotheses. Surveys collected from 339 Korean firms were analyzed to test the hypotheses using the supermodularity functions. The results indicated that an internal knowledge-oriented innovation approach has a positive impact on innovation performance regardless of firm size. However, an external knowledge-oriented innovation approach has a positive effect on innovation performance in large firms while having no significant effect on innovation performance of SMEs. Results also confirmed a complementary relationship between internal and external knowledge-oriented innovation approaches in large firms, whereas substitutable relationships were confirmed in SMEs. This study sheds new light on open innovation by identifying the role of different types of innovation approaches, firm size, and IT capabilities.

Purpose: This study explores the complex interplay between service quality, customer engagement, and loyalty in the e-commerce sector, examining the moderating effect of technological adoption on these crucial relationships. Research design, data and methodology: Employing a robust multi-method approach, the research analyzes data from 481 e-commerce users, leveraging the complementary strengths of partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) and fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis(fsQCA). Acomprehensive multi-group analysisis conducted to uncover differences between experienced and non-experienced users. Results: PLS-SEM reveals that service quality significantly influences customer engagement, which in turn drives loyalty. Technological adoption positively moderates the service quality-engagement relationship. The multi-group analysis uncovers notable differences between user segments. fsQCA identifies two distinct configurational paths consistently leading to high customer loyalty: high customer engagement and high service quality. Conclusions: This study's innovative integration of PLS-SEM and fsQCA contributes to a deeper understanding of the intricate dynamics driving e-commerce success. Findings provide actionable insights for e-commerce businesses to enhance service quality, foster engagement, and cultivate loyalty. This research lays the groundwork for further exploration of these critical relationships in different contexts, offering a nuanced perspective on the complex interplay of factors shaping customer behavior in the digital marketplace.
Growth in the outsourcing market signals that firms of all sizes believe outsourcing will ultimately deliver many benefits and conveniences. But there are not many firms satisfied with the results of outsourcing. What is more, previous researches were fragmentary analyses focused on specific variables of outsourcing such as sourcing decisions, partnership rather than comprehensive analysis. Thus, they could not propose general systematic methodologies applicable to the real situation. To solve these problems, we developed an integrated theoretical framework that considered both contract with the hard side and trust with the soft side from a contingency viewpoint and tested this model using 143 data of Korean companies executing outsourcing. In addition, we examined how situational factors(outsourcing task complexity and outsourcing management competence) affects each path in the research model. The results of this study are as follows. First, it was proved the theory that trust is not a substitute for contract but its complement. Previous empirical studies on outsourcing success factors were focused on the establishment of successful partnership on the assumption that trust can replace contract in many situations. According to the results of our empirical analysis, however, contract and trust were in a mutually complementary relation with each other and their emphasis was different. Furthermore, different from previous researches, it was found effective to use trust as a supplementary tool and contract as a main means in outsourcing management strategy. Second, this study provided an integrated view that sees both contract and trust from a contingency viewpoint in theoretically reestablishing the relationship between contract and trust. Previous researches leaned to specific variables or theory-centered fragmentary analysis, but this study proposed a more practical and integrated research model and tested its effectiveness. Based on the results, with the model, decision makers are expected to scrutinize outsourcing situation more closely and to have a practical insight to the situation. Third, it was found that contract mechanism and trust building do not have a direct effect on outsourcing performance but relationship management intensity mediates the effect of contract mechanism and trust building. This is considered significantly meaningful to outsourcing partners who have believed that outsourcing would be successful if a contract is made properly or trust is built. Lastly, the path from trust building to relationship management intensity was moderated by informed buying, as the path coefficients from trust building to relationship management intensity varied by the degree of informed buying competence.
