The Ministry of Transportation forecasts that the total number of automobiles in use in 1997 will be increased to about 10 million units. Until now, with the increase of domestic demand for automobiles, the customers' complaints have been raised frequently in relation with insufficient supply of auto parts for the repair and maintenance. At the same time, the industry came to face with new problems such as customers' requests of auto makers' quality services. Until now there were not any statistics on the registration of car age for each car type. So, for the auto makers' efficient aftersales management a system for collecting registration statistics was developed, and it has attributed remarkably to the improvement of the aftersales services, through easy anticipation of the requirements of parts being used for not only the small-produced but the massproduced car types. And a systematic instrument useful for auto industry, transportation and policy on environment is provided by timely supply of various statistics to the industry.

This study examined customer misbehaviors in retail settings by identifying behavioral patterns and exploring behavioral backgrounds and consequences from the employee's perspectives. Qualitative data were collected from an individual interview method, and 222 interviews were analyzed. Customer misbehavior was categorized into unethical returns, problem behaviors in service encounters, unreasonable demands, shoplifting/fraud, ill-mannered behaviors, and selfish behaviors. Behavioral backgrounds included dissatisfaction, unreasonable expectations, actively benefiting of service failures, taking advantage of service standards, illegitimate complaints, monetary gains, transferring responsibility, and demanding special treatment. Employees experienced stress facing misbehaving customers with no other choice except to accept misbehaviors and learned misbehaviors as customers themselves. The study further discusses the implications.

This study examined customer misbehavior in retail settings by identifying behavioral patterns and exploring behavioral backgrounds and consequences from a customer viewpoint. Qualitative data were collected from individual in-depth interviews, and 149 interviews were analyzed. Customer misbehavior was categorized into unethical returns, problem behaviors in service encounters, shoplifting/fraud, ill-mannered behaviors, and selfish behaviors. Motivations included monetary gain, adventurism, perceived acceptability of misbehavior, planned unfair complaints, and retaliation. Customers showed a negative image to unkind employees and stores yielding to misbehaviors that were learned and socialized among customers. The study further discusses implications.

The blasting work to construct a subway in seoul, korea have often cased increased neighbor＇s complaints because of ground vibration. In order to prevent the demage to the stucture it was necessary to predict the level of blasting induced vibration and to determine the maximum charge weigh per delay with an allowable vibration level. The effect of blasting pattem, rock strength and different explosive on the blast-induced ground vibration was studied to determine the maximum charage weight per delay within a given vibration level. The blasting vibration equation from over 100 test data was obtained, V= K(D/W(equation omitted), where the values for n and K are estimated to be 1.7 to 1.5 and 48 to 138 respectively.

The construction noise has been considered as one of environment pollution and complaints about it have been increasing every year. In order to reduce construction machinery noise, the product noise labeling for construction machinery has been recommended since 1 February 1996 and in the near future the government will convert the recommended product noise labeling to the mandatory product noise labeling fir high noise construction machinery. Therefore, we investigated the noise and vibration level of 302 construction machines and the effect of noise reduction for the soundproof facilities in construction work sites to support the policy of the government. Additionally, we present the basic data that will be used for setting the standard of construction machinery noise and predicting the noise level near construction work sites in environmental impact assessment.

Objective: To describe the effects of Korean medical treatment on a 51-year-old male patient with polyneuropathy and chief complaints of lower limb paralysis and dysarthria. Methods: The Toronto Clinical Neuropathy Scoring System (TCNSS) was used to evaluate the function of the lower limb and the symptoms of the patient were observed daily. We applied herbal medication and acupuncture daily, depending on the patient’s symptoms. Results: After the treatment, the TCNSS score was improved. Conclusions: In this case, Korean medical therapy was effective in improving lower limb function.

Objectives: This study was designed to evaluate the effect of Korean medicine treatment on four cases involving hemorrhoid patients. Methods: Four patients suffering from hemorrhoids were treated with Korean medicine treatment, such as herbal medicine, and acupuncture. Patients were diagnosed using pictures of the anus, which were used to compare before and after treatment and to evaluate treatment efficacy. Results: After treatment, the symptoms of pain and other complaints conspicuously improved. Conclusions: As indicated by before and after treatment pictures of the anus and decreased symptoms, Korean medicine treatment is effective in treating hemorrhoids.

A 69-year-old Korean man was admitted to emergency room with complaints of abdominal pain, vomiting, and diarrhea, Laboratory tests revealed eosinophilia, anemia, hypoproteinemia, and hyponatremia. The gastric mucosa showed whitish mottled and slightly elevated lesions on the body angle of antrum. Microscopically, chronic gastritis with incomplete intestinal metaplasia was observed. Many adult worms, larvae, and eggs in cross sections were located in the crypts. Furthermore, the filariform larvae of Strongyloides stercoralis with a notched tail were detected through the culture.

Pleural effusion represents a rare complication of acute hepatitis A infection. Twelve year-old girl was admitted with complaints of general weakness, nausea and icteric sclerae. She also complained of right chest pain. Right decubitus view of chest radiograph showed pleural fluid accumulation. Laboratory findings were as follows: AST/ALT 1692/1970 IU/L, total/direct bilirubin 4.48/3.66 mg/dL and HA IgM Ab (+). On the seventh day of hospitalization, her general condition was much improved and chest radiography showed resolved pleural effusion.

This is one case report of successful resection of the aneurysm of the thoracic aorta, which det-ected by thoractomy unexpectedly, in the Department of Thoracic Surgery, Hanyang University Hospital. The patient was a 34 years old woman and subjective complaints was not related with the aneurysm. Chest film showed a small round hazy shadow in the left margin of the upper posterior mediastinum. A saccular aneurysm located on the descending thoracic aorta, 7cm distal to the left subclavian artery and arouse from the antero-lateral wall of the aorta. Excision of the saccular aneurysm was performed by cross clamping the descending aorta above and below the aneurysm, and then the defect of the aortic wall was closed by aortorrhaphy with continuous suture. Crossclamping time was required 15 minute. Histopathologically, the wall of the aneurysm consisted of all layers of the arterial wall, that is, intima, media and adventitia. Postoperative course was uneventful and aortogram showed good continuity of the blood flow of the entire aorta.
