  • It is becoming increasingly difficult for advertisers to reach target consumers because memory for an ad is inhibited in the presence of competing ads. While previous studies have focused on ad repetition as a factor that can reduce competitive interference, this study focuses on ad distinctiveness. We compare the effects of ad distinctiveness on recall for the ad and its competing ad in high competitive ad environments with those in relatively low competitive ad environments. Regarding the effect of ad distinctiveness on recall for the focal ad, the results show that when an advertiser makes its ad distinctive, recall for its own ad is enhanced in both high and low competitive ad environments although the positive effect is relatively weak in high competitive environments. The results also show that, regarding the effect of ad distinctiveness on recall for its competing ad, when an advertiser makes its ad distinctive, recall for its competing ad is enhanced in low competitive ad environments rather than in high competitive ad environments.

  • What is the national competitive power\ulcorner What are the determinants of national competitive advantage\ulcorner In order to find these problems, this study was initiated theoretically through the international trade theory and international managerial strategic theory. The flow of studies, in connection with these competitive advantage, come into industries competitive advantage from national competitive advantage. It is understood that the flow of studies is based on the change of paradigm about the international industry environment. Today, the international industry environment has been changed into vigorous situation with the new trade system such as globalization, UR negotiation, WTO system instead of GATT. Among these environments, all enterprises in any industries should try to enhance their benefit, income profits and develop their management strategy, because it is essential for them to keep and make a profit in order to be competitive against all other rivaling enterprises. According to researchers and the ages of history, the concept and determinants of competitive advantage have been dissimiliar as followings. 1) Theory of absolute advantage : Absolute Product Cost. 2) Theory of comparative advantage : Comparative Product Cost. 3) Theory of reciprocal demand : the Reciprocal Demand Structure. 4) Theory of Hechsher-Ohlin : Factor Endowment. 5) Paradox of Leontief : the Quality of Factor Endowment. 6) Theory of technological gap : R & D. 7) Technological gap model : The Technological Gap. 8) Theory of the product life cycle : Product Life Cycle. 9) Christensen's study : Firm's character & manager's character. 10) Monopolistic Advantage Theories : Monopolistic Advantage 11) Electic theory : Ownership, location and internalization specific advantages. 12) Theory of value chain : Cost advantage, Differentiation, Focus. However all these theories have the limit of illustration regarding today's competitive situation, the Porter's theory shows well the determinants of competitive advantage with competitive strategy. Therefore, the analysis of the competitive advantage for maritime industry should be studied by the determinants of competitive advantage of nations

Research design, data and methodology: This study applied a quantitative approach in dealing with the interaction effect of CRM dimensions and SMEs' competitive advantage in Yemen. The research uses a sample of 247 manufacturing SMEs surveyed in Yemen. Results: The results indicate that only three dimensions of CRM, namely (TCM), (KM) and (CRMO), have a significant effect on SMEs' competitive advantage, but not that between (KCF) and SMEs' competitive advantage. Conclusions: The findings of this study offer important insights for owners and managers of SMEs, researchers and policymakers to further understand the effects of CRM on SMEs' competitive advantage. SMEs should also be encouraged to develop their CRM to improve their competitive advantage. Lastly, this study makes several contributions to the literature, the first of which is the provision of evidence concerning the major role of CRM as a dependent variable and competitive advantage as an independent variable. The second contribution pertains to its pioneering status in examining the direct relationship between CRM dimensions and the competitive advantage of SMEs in a Middle Eastern country.

  • A new operation termed competitive generation in the processes of genetic algorithms is proposed for accelerating the optimization speed of genetic algorithms. The competitive generation devised by considering the competition of sperms for fertilization provides a good opportunity for the genetic algorithms to approach global optimum without falling into local optimum. Experimental results with typical problems showed that the genetic algorithms with competitive generation are superior to those without the competitive generation.

In such a situation, to enhance the competitive edge of a hospital, it is needed to set up a competitive strategy and to construct an efficient information systems to back up the competitive strategy. If the hospital information systems(HIS) is consistent with a competitive strategy backing up, the competitive force of a hospital will be enhanced. For this respect, the influence of the competitive strategy and HIS construction environments on the performance of HIS was examined. The results suggested that if a HIS should be newly constructed or should be restructured, it is necessary to select construction environments of HIS such as physical environments, development methods and development tools to support functional strategy effectively based on the competitive strategy adopted by a hospital.
