  • This study is designed to shed light on the current status of school health education in Korea and identify its problems. The findings of this study among other things pointed out that health education should be awarded the status on an independent subject in a bid to activate school health education and cope with its problems. Thus for efforts focused on the needs for establishing health education as an independent course as well as for enhancing the awareness of its importance. At this stage further efforts are needed to develop in-depth discussions and add greater variety to the curriculum. Firstly efforts should be made to recognize the health status of students at all levels, i.d., from kindergarten through university. Particulary at this stage when the entire society is going through changes in the types of health problems and disease pattern, the outcome of analyses on the types of health problems and health-related behavior can be used as basic data for framing the contents of school health education. Secondly more active efforts are required to single out the contents of health education and develop health education curricula assessment based on the findings of surveys on that of health education needs. Thirdly the development of school health education curriculum should be accompanied by that of more effective educational methods and materials. In particular, further efforts should be made to develop educational methods designed to make wider use of audio-visual equipments or apply behavior modification techniques so that school health education will be adapted to changed educational environment and the characteristics of health education. Fourthly and most importantly the training and production competent health education teachers is needed. This should be preceded by the amendment of relevant laws and administrative systems.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to develop a triage competency scale (TCS) for emergency nurses, and to evaluate its validity and reliability. Methods: Preliminary items were derived based on the attributes and indicators elicited from a concept analysis study on triage competency. Ten experts assessed whether the preliminary items belonged to the construct factor and determined the appropriateness of each item. A revised questionnaire was administered to 250 nurses in 18 emergency departments to evaluate the reliability and validity of the scale. Data analysis comprised item analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, contrasted group validity, and criterion-related validity, including criterion-related validity of the problem solving method using video scenarios. Results: The item analysis and confirmatory factor analysis yielded 5 factors with 30 items; the fit index of the derived model was good (${\chi}^2/df=2.46$, Root Mean squared Residual=.04, Root Mean Squared Error of Approximation=.08). Additionally, contrasted group validity was assessed. Participants were classified as novice, advanced beginner, competent, and proficient, and significant differences were observed in the mean score for each group (F=6.02, p=.001). With reference to criterion-related validity, there was a positive correlation between scores on the TCS and the Clinical Decision Making in Nursing Scale (r=.48, p<.001). Further, the total score on the problem solving method using video scenarios was positively correlated with the TCS score (r=.13, p=.04). The Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ of the final model was .91. Conclusion: Our TCS is useful for the objective assessment of triage competency among emergency nurses and the evaluation of triage education programs.

  • In Korea, all investigations of maritime crime such as murder, robbery, drug trafficking, and illegal fishing that have been committed at sea are under the jurisdiction of maritime police. As maritime crimes tend to have more unique cases, cause damage on a larger scale, and be limited to evidence that is possibly contaminated, compared to non-maritime crimes, the cases demand maritime police investigators with a higher level of expertise. However, there is currently a lack of competent investigators in the maritime police, leading to the training of maritime police investigators in training agencies. so many of maritime investigators goes to land police training agency including Korean Police Investigation Academy. Therefore, in order to improve the capabilities of maritime crime investigation we must first gather information and data in relation to maritime crimes to foster more investigation specialists, and establish specialized training agencies offering a training course more focused on maritime crimes.

  • Background: Maintaining a skilled workforce by minimizing the turnover of competent dental hygienists is very important for securing dental competitiveness. Therefore, it is necessary to find a predictor of turnover and lower turnover intention. To understand dental hygienist turnover, it is necessary to study the resilience, a positive factor of personal characteristics and job embeddedness that induces residual tissue. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of dental hygienists' job embeddedness and resilience on turnover intention. Methods: A survey was conducted on licensed dental hygienists nationwide, from March 19 to July 19, 2020. T-test and one way ANOVA analysis were performed to compare the job embeddedness, resilience, and turnover intention according to the general characteristics. Pearson's correlation analysis was performed to identify the correlation between job embeddedness, resilience, and turnover intention. Multiple regression analysis was performed to determine the effect on the turnover intention. Results: Job embeddedness was the highest with link and resilience scoring 3.57 and 4.16, respectively. The turnover intention scored 3.53. Among the general characteristics, age, marriage, total dental clinic career, education degree, and position showed statistically significant differences in job embeddedness, resilience, and turnover intention. Suitability, link, and sacrifice of job embeddedness were shown to affect the degree of turnover intention, with an explanatory power of 26.2%. Conclusion: In order to reduce the dental hygienists' turnover intention, job embeddedness and resilience should be increased. Thus, measures should be undertaken for professional and systematic program development and human resources management.

  • Application of geothermal energy in buildings has been gaining popularity as it provides the benefits of both heating and cooling a building. Among the various types of geothermal energy systems, ground-coupled heat pump system is the most commonly applied one in South Korea. A ground heat exchanger plays an important role as a heat source in winter and a heat sink in summer. For the stable operation of a ground-coupled heat pump system, a ground heat exchanger should be sized so that it provides sufficient heating and cooling energy. Heating and cooling energies generated in ground heat exchangers mainly depend on the temperature difference between the heating medium in ground heat exchangers and the surrounding ground. In addition, the performance of ground heat exchangers influences the change in ground temperature. Therefore, it is necessary to consider this interrelation between the change in the ground temperature and the performance of ground heat exchanger for an accurate estimation of its performance. However, previous thermal analysis models for ground heat exchangers are not competent enough to allow a complete understanding of this interrelation. Therefore, this study proposes a three-dimensional equivalent, transient ground heat exchanger analysis model. First, a previous thermal analysis model for ground heat exchangers, including an analytical model, a g-function, and a numerical model are analyzed. Next, to overcome the limitations of the previous models, a three-dimensional equivalent, transient ground heat exchanger model is proposed. Finally, this study validated the proposed model with the measurement data of the thermal response test, sandbox test, and TRNSYS DST model. All validation results showed a good agreement. These findings helped us to investigate the thermal performance of ground heat exchangers more accurately than the analytical models, and faster than the numerical models. Furthermore, the proposed model contributes to the design of ground heat exchangers by considering the different operation conditions of buildings.

  • This paper is concerned with coordinated collaboration of multiagent system in which there exist multiple agents which have their own set of skills to perform some tasks, multiple external resources which can be either used exclusively by an agent or shared by the specified number of agents at a time, and a set of tasks which consists of a collection of subtasks each of which can be carried out by an agent. Even though a subtask can be carried out by several agents, its processing cost may be different depending on which agent performs it. To process tasks, some coordination work is required such as allocating their constituent subtasks among competent agents and scheduling the allocated subtasks to determine their processing order at each agent. This paper proposes a genetic algorithm-based method to coordinate the agents to process tasks in the considered multiagent environments. It also presents some experiment results for the proposed method and shows that the proposed method is a useful coordination collaboration method of multiagent system.
