Motion-Compensated Interpolation for Non-moving Caption Region (정지자막 영역의 움직임 보상 보간 기법)

  • In this paper, we present a novel motion-compensated interpolation technique for non-moving caption region to prevent the block artifacts due to the failure of conventional block-based motion estimation algorithm on the block is consist of non-moving caption and moving object. Experimental results indicate good performance of the proposed scheme with significantly reduced block artifacts on image sequence that include non-moving caption. Also the proposed method is simple and adequate for hardware implementation.

  • The MPEG-4 multiple auxiliary component (MAC) is a good mechanism to achieve one-stream stereoscopic video coding. However, there is no syntax or semantics for the residual texture data of the disparity-compensated image in the current MAC. Therefore, we propose a novel disparity-compensated coding method using the MAC for stereoscopic video. We also define a novel MAC semantics in MPEG-4 so as to support the proposed coding algorithm. The major difference between the existing and proposed coding methods using the MAC is the addition of the residual texture coding.

  • This paper describes the algorithm for more fast tracking by compensation of the staring angle of antenna to receive the satellite signal changed by the mobile vehicle direction. The staring angle is compensated by signal processing from the electronic compass which is called VECTOR2X, and a left-right tracking method. Especially, when mobile vehicle is turning with high speed, it is observed a result which has more fast tracking time by using angle tracking technique compensated by electronic compass than one by only left right tracking method.

  • This paper describes a speed sensorless algorithm for vector control system with compensated stator resistance and rotor time constant of induction motor using a model reference adaptive system(MRAS). The system are composed of two MRAC, one is a rotor speed estimation and a stator resistor identification by back-EMF observer, other is used to identify rotor time constant by magnetizing current observer, so that the estimation can be cover a very low speed range with a robust control. The suggest control strategy and estimation method have been validated by simulation study. In the simulation using Matlab/Simulik, the proposed speed sensorless vector control system are shown to operate very well in spite of variable rotor time constant and load fluctuation.

3D Head Pose Estimation Using The Stereo Image (스테레오 영상을 이용한 3차원 포즈 추정)

  • This paper presents a three-dimensional (3D) head pose estimation algorithm using the stereo image. Given a pair of stereo image, we automatically extract several important facial feature points using the disparity map, the gabor filter and the canny edge detector. To detect the facial feature region , we propose a region dividing method using the disparity map. On the indoor head & shoulder stereo image, a face region has a larger disparity than a background. So we separate a face region from a background by a divergence of disparity. To estimate 3D head pose, we propose a 2D-3D Error Compensated-SVD (EC-SVD) algorithm. We estimate the 3D coordinates of the facial features using the correspondence of a stereo image. We can estimate the head pose of an input image using Error Compensated-SVD (EC-SVD) method. Experimental results show that the proposed method is capable of estimating pose accurately.

  • We propose a new video compression method based on MCTF(motion compensated temporal filtering) with constant quality. SPECK is an efficient image compression coding method of encoding DWT coefficients. Especially SPECK method is very efficient for coding the motion compensated residual image which usually has larger amounts of high frequency components than the natural images. And proposed multi block size hierarchical motion estimation technique is more efficient than classical block matching algorithm with fixed block size both in estimation precision and operation costs. Proposed video method based on MCTF video compression can also support multi-frame rate decoding with reasonable complexity. Simulation results showed that proposed method outperforms H.263 video compression standard.

  • In order to establish the design technique of the robust current controller in d.c series wound motor driver system, this paper proposes a method of the compensated Bang-Bang current control using d.c series wound motor driver system under the improperly variable load to get minimum time for the torque control. The compensated Bang-Bang current controller structure is simpler than that of PID plus Bang-Bang controller. This paper shows that a general 16 bits microprocessor is efficiently used to implement such an algorithm. The calculation time of software is extremely small when compared with that of conventional PID plus Bang-Bang controller. Both nonlinear operating characteristics of digital switching elements and describing function methods are used for the analysis and synthesis. Real-time implementation of the compensated Bang-Bang current controller is achieved. The concept of design strategy of the control and the PWM waveform generation algorithms are presented in this paper.

  • Most face recognition systems are based on 2D images and applied in many applications. However, it is difficult to recognize a face when the pose varies severely. Therefore, head pose estimation is an inevitable procedure to improve recognition rate when a face is not frontal. In this paper, we propose a novel head pose estimation algorithm for 3D face recognition. Given the 3D range image of an unknown face as an input, we automatically extract facial feature points based on the face curvature. We propose an Error Compensated Singular Value Decomposition (EC-SVD) method based on the extracted facial feature points. We obtain the initial rotation angle based on the SVD method, and perform a refinement procedure to compensate for remained errors. The proposed algorithm is performed by exploiting the extracted facial features in the normaized 3D face space. In addition, we propose a 3D nearest neighbor classifier in order to select face candidates for 3D face recognition. From simulation results, we proved the efficiency and validity of the proposed algorithm.

Robust Adaptive Control System for Induction Motor Drive Without Speed Sensor at Low Speed (저속영역에서 속도검출기가 없는 유도전동기의 강인성 적응제어 시스템)

  • The paper describes a robust adaptive control algorithm for induction motor drive without speed sensor at low speed range. The control algorithm use only current sensors in a space vector pulse width modulation within loop control with rotor speed estimation and voltage source inverter. On-line rotor speed estimation is based on utilizing parallel model reference adaptive control system. MRAC of the modified flux model for flux and rotor speed estimator uses dual-adaptation mechanism, ${\omega}_r$ and ${\omega}_e$ scheme. The estimated flux components in the model can be compensated from the effects of offset errors on pure integrals. It can be compensated to the parameter variations and torque fluctuation with speed estimation in less then 10 rad/sec. In a simulation, the proposed induction motor control algorithm without speed sensor at very low speed range are shown to operate very well in spite of variable rotor time constant and fluctuating load without change the controller parameters. The suggested control strategy and estimation method have been validated by simulation study, and it proposed the designed system for the implementation using TI320C31 DSP/ASIC controller.

A Method for Object Tracking Based on Background Stabilization (동적 비디오 기반 안정화 및 객체 추적 방법)

  • This paper proposes a robust digital video stabilization algorithm to extract and track an object, which uses a phase correlation-based motion correction. The proposed video stabilization algorithm consists of background stabilization based on motion estimation and extraction of a moving object. The motion vectors can be estimated by calculating the phase correlation of a series of frames in the eight sub-images, which are located in the corner of the video. The global motion vector can be estimated and the image can be compensated by using the multiple local motions of sub-images. Through the calculations of the phase correlation, the motion of the background can be subtracted from the former frame and the compensated frame, which share the same background. The moving objects in the video can also be extracted. In this paper, calculating the phase correlation to track the robust motion vectors results in the compensation of vibrations, such as movement, rotation, expansion and the downsize of videos from all directions of the sub-images. Experimental results show that the proposed digital image stabilization algorithm can provide continuously stabilized videos and tracking object movements.
