  • In order to investigate the effect of circulating blood and extinguishing blood stasis method on acute ischemic stroke treatment, we compared muscle weakness in two groups. Dansamhwanotang was administered to experimental group and the Sopungtang was administered to comparison group. In prospective and consecutive study, 24 patients(male 14, female 10) were admitted to hospital within 6hours(median $4.21{\pm}2.45)$ after stroke attack. All of them were diagnosed computed tomography as acute cerebral infarction. We divided that patients into two groups. The experimental group was 13, took median $4.17{\pm}1.72hrs$ to admission after stroke attack and the comparison group 11, median $4.31{\pm}2.72hrs$ to admission after stroke attack. There was no statistical difference in time consumed from stroke onset to admission(P>0.05). Muscle weakness was measured on admission and 7 days later on AMA(American Medical Association) method. In the experimental group, muscle weakness on admission was $2.23{\pm}0.51$ and $2.79{\pm}0.72$ in upper and lower extremity, respectively. In comparison group, muscle weakness on admission was $2.17{\pm}0.43$ and $2.67{\pm}0.82$ in upper and lower extremity, respectively. There was no difference in muscle weakness(P〈0.05). In 7 days after, muscle weakness was $2.31{\pm}0.35$ in upper extremity and $3.15{\pm}0.12$ in lower extremity in experimental group, and $2.27{\pm}0.74$ in upper extremity and $3.45{\pm}0.48$, lower extremity in comparison group. There was no meaningful improvement statistically in upper extremity(p<0.05) but significant evolution in lower extremity(p<0.05). The muscle weakness comparison between admission time and 7 days later was as follows. Experimental group had improvement at the degree of $0.24{\pm}0.92$, $0.42{\pm}0.82$ in upper and lower extremity, respectively and comparison group, $0.12{\pm}0.82$, $0.27{\pm}0.97$ in same part(p<0.05). So, Dansamhwanotang administered group had more good muscle weakness improvement than Sopungtang administered group(P>0.05). From the above result, I suppose that circulating blood and extinguishing blood stasis method helps recover hemiparesis caused by acute ischemic cerabral disease, in acute stage at least.

  • Using the nonlinear load transfer function for pile side soil and the linear load transfer function for pile end soil, a combined approach of the incremental load transfer matrix method and the approximate differential equation solution method is presented for the nonlinear analysis of interaction between flexible pile group and soil. The proposed method provides an effective approach for the solution of the nonlinear interaction between flexible pile group under rigid platform and surrounding soil. To verify the accuracy of the proposed method, a static load test for a nine-pile group under a rigid platform is carried out. The finite element analysis is also conducted for comparison purposes. It is found that the results from the proposed method match very well with those from the experimental test and are better in comparison with the finite element method.

  • PURPOSES : Before-and-after studies of red light cameras were conducted with the aim of reducing the number of side right-angle collisions. Three different methods were used for the before-and-after studies, and the analysis results were compared. METHODS : This research used the naive before-and-after method, the comparison-group method, and the empirical Bayes method to study the effects of red light cameras on side-angle collisions. The results of the three before-and-after methods were compared and interpreted in terms of safety indications at signalized intersections. RESULTS : The research results showed that side right-angle collisions can be reduced by installing red light cameras at signalized intersections. All three methods guarantee safety improvements of 25~30% on average. With regard to the results of each method, the naive before-and-after method, the comparison-group method, and the empirical Bayes method showed safety improvements of 25.6%, 27.8%, and 29.7%, respectively. CONCLUSIONS : It was concluded that red light cameras are an effective countermeasure to improve intersection safety. In particular, by installing red light cameras, side right-angle collisions can be reduced by up to approximately 25~30%.

Method : During one month of November, 2013, this study randomly chose five study subjects for hand function training, five for writing training, and ten of control group from 20 normal male and female adults going to K Univ. in Busan. All study subjects fully understood all of the training course, agreed to take the test in this study, and volunteered to participate in the test. Each training was performed five times for two weeks, 30 minutes each time. For measurement, Purdue pegboard was used to look into the change of hand dexterity. To investigate an improvement in hand function through hand function training and writing training, this study conducted early evaluation before training, interim evaluation, and final evaluation. Result : First, according to the comparison of dominant hand dexterity by group and by method during a training period, the groups of hand function training and of writing training improved dominant hand dexterity more than the control group. Secondly, according to the comparison of non-dominant hand dexterity by group during a training period, the groups of hand function training and of writing training improved dexterity more than the control group. According to the comparison of non-dominant hand dexterity by method during a training period, there was no big difference in dexterity between the groups of hand function training and of writing training and the control group. But, the group of hand function training showed a further improvement. Thirdly, according to the comparison of both-hand dexterity by group and by method during a training period, the groups of hand function training and of writing training improved both-hand dexterity more than the control group. Fourthly, according to the comparison of both-hand handling ability by group and by method during a training period, the groups of hand function training and of writing training improved both-hand handling ability more than the control group. Conclusion : Given the study result, it is considered that hand function training and writing training help brain damaged patients improve their hand function for their daily activity. And it will be meaningful to research brain damaged patients' motor skills after their brain damage, and the patients who have low abilities of visual perception and cognition. In the future, it will be necessary to secure more study subjects and perform systematic training during a sufficient test period.

  • Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of pulsed-ultrasound intervention and continued-ultrasound on the PPT (pressure pain threshold), CK (creatine kinase) and LDH (lactate dehydrogenase) recovery of before EIMD (exercise-induced muscle damage). Design: Randomized Controlled Trial. Methods: Thirty subjects who are student in their 20s at a university participated in this study, these subjects were assigned into three groups, a control group (n=10), experiment group I (n=10), and experiment group II (n=10). The subjects in experimental group were intervened by pulsed-ultrasound and continued-ultrasound, while ones on control group weren't by any intervention after induced EIMD. Results: First, In the comparison of the PPT, there were significant variations with the lapse the time in three groups (p<.001) and there was a significant interaction of time and group (p<.001). In the among group comparison, the PPT of experimental group II was significantly larger than those of other groups (p<.01). Second, In the comparison of the CK, there were significant variations with the lapse the time in three groups (p<.001) and there was a significant interaction of time and group (p<.001). In the among group comparison, the CK of experimental group II was significantly smaller than those of other groups (p<.001). Third, In the comparison of the LDH, there were significant variations with the lapse the time in three groups (p<.001) and there was a significant interaction of time and group (p<.001). In the among group comparison, the LDH of experimental group II was significantly smaller than those of other groups (p<.001). Conclusion: The above results revealed that the continued-ultrasound intervention before an exercise had a positive effect of muscle function after EIMD. Therefore we can consider the continued ultrasound as a considerable intervention method to prevent or reduce an exercise injury.

  • Time comparison techniques are necessary for generating and keeping Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) and distributing standard time clocks. Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Common View, GNSS All-in-View, Two-Way Satellite Time and Frequency Transfer (TWSTFT), Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI), optical fiber, and Network Time Protocol (NTP) based methods have been used for time comparison. In these methods, GNSS based time comparison techniques are widely used for time synchronization in critical national infrastructures and in common areas of application such as finance, military, and wireless communication. However, GNSS-based time comparison techniques are vulnerable to jamming or interference environments and it is difficult to respond to GNSS signal disconnection according to the international situation. In response, in this paper, Code-Division Multiple Access (CDMA) based All-to-All TWSTFT operation method is proposed. A software-based simulation platform also was designed for performance analysis in multi-TWSTFT signal environments. Furthermore, code and carrier measurement jitters were calculated in multi-signal environments using the designed simulation platform. By using the technique proposed in this paper, it is anticipated that the TWSTFT-based time comparison method will be used in various fields and satisfy high-performance requirements such as those of a GNSS master station and power plant network reference station.
