  • This study was carried out for the molecular level identification of recombinant protein vaccine efficacy, by oral feeding against white spot syndrome virus infection, with the comparison of viral mRNA transcriptional levels in shrimp cells. For the determination of WSSV dilution ratio for the vaccination experiment by oral feeding, in vivo virus titration was carried out using different virus dilutions of virus stock ($1{\times}10^2$, $2{\times}10^2$, and $1{\times}10^3$). Among the dilution ratios, $2{\times}10^2$ diluted WSSV stock was chosen as the optimal condition because this dilution showed 90% mortality at 10 days after virus injection. Recombinant viral proteins, rVP19 and rVP28, produced as protein vaccines were delivered in shrimps by oral feeding. The cumulative mortalities of the shrimps vaccinated with rVP19 and rVP28 at 21 days after the challenge with WSSV were 66.7% and 41.7%, respectively. This indicates that rVP28 showed a better protective effect against WSSV in shrimp than rVP19. Through the comparison of mRNA transcriptional levels of viral genes from collected shrimp organ samples, it was confirmed that viral gene transcriptions of vaccinated shrimps were delayed for 4~10 days compared with those of unvaccinated shrimps. Protection from WSSV infection in shrimp by the vaccination with recombinant viral proteins could be accomplished by the prevention of entry of WSSV due to the shrimp immune system activated by recombinant protein vaccines.

  • This paper intends to analyse some legal issues on US-Orange Juice Case. Brazil's WTO challenge is to the methods undertaken by US in calculating antidumping duties in administrative reviews of Brazilian Orange Juice. Panel resulted that conforms with earlier Appellate Body decision outlawing the use of 'weighted average to transaction zeroing. This paper note that panel's stance was driven from 'stability and predictability' within the DSB system. There was a de facto form of stare decisis. However, Panel in US-Orange Juice recognized that Appellate Body decision is wrong about finding zeroing to be violation of the fair comparison requirement of the Article 2.4 of the WTO Anti-Dumping agreement. Zeroing dispute of WTO Anti-Dumping Agreement will be continued that because this matter. Fortunately, the American government announced it would be stop zeroing system of administrative reviews. As result, Carefully, We anticipate that US-Orange Juice's decision is the end of zeroing method on the WTO Anti-Dumping Agreement.

  • The resistance performance of an icebreaking cargo vessel in pack ice conditions was investigated numerically and experimentally using a recently developed finite element (FE) model and model tests. A comparison between numerical analysis and experimental results with synthetic ice in a standard towing tank was carried out. The comparison extended to results with refrigerated ice to examine the feasibility of using synthetic ice. Two experiments using two different ice materials gave a reasonable agreement. Ship-ice interaction loads are numerically calculated based on the fluid structure interaction (FSI) method using the commercial FE package LS-DYNA. Test results from model testing with synthetic ice at the Pusan National University towing tank, and with refrigerated ice at the National Research Council's (NRC) ice tank, are used to validate and benchmark the numerical simulations. The designed ice-going cargo vessel is used as a target ship for three concentrations (90%, 80%, and 60%) of pack ice conditions. Ice was modeled as a rigid body but the ice density was the same as that in the experiments. The numerical challenge is to evaluate hydrodynamic loads on the ship's hull; this is difficult because LS-DYNA is an explicit FE solver and the FSI value is calculated using a penalty method. Comparisons between numerical and experimental results are shown, and our main conclusions are given.

  • Information retrieval is the challenge of the Web 2.0 world. The experiment of knowledge organisation in the context of abundant information available from various sources proves a major hurdle in obtaining information retrieval with greater precision and recall. The fast-changing landscape of information organisation through social networking sites at a personal level creates a world of opportunities for data scientists and also library professionals to assimilate the social data with expert created data. Thus, folksonomies or social tags play a vital role in information organisation and retrieval. The comparison of these user-created tags with expert-created index terms, author keywords and title words, will throw light on the differentiation between these sets of data. Such comparative studies show revelation of a new set of terms to enhance subject access and reflect the extent of similarity between user-generated tags and other set of terms. The CiteULike tags extracted from 5,150 scholarly journal articles in marine science were compared with corresponding Aquatic Science and Fisheries Abstracts descriptors, author keywords, and title terms. The Jaccard similarity coefficient method was employed to compare the social tags with the above mentioned wordsets, and results proved the presence of user-generated keywords in Aquatic Science and Fisheries Abstracts descriptors, author keywords, and title words. While using information retrieval techniques like stemmer and lemmatization, the results were found to enhance keywords to subject access.

  • One of the instances which demand structural engineer's greatest attention and upgradation is the changing live load requirement in bridge design code. The challenge increases in developing countries as the pace of infrastructural growth is being catered by the respective country codes with bigger and heavier vehicles to be considered in the design. This paper presents the case study of India where Indian Roads Congress (IRC) codes in its revised version from 2014 to 2017 introduced massive Special vehicle (SV) around 40 m long and weighing 3850 kN to be considered in the design of road bridges. The code does not specify the minimum distance between successive special vehicles unlike other loading classes and hence the consequences of it form the motivation for this study. The effect of SV in comparison with Class 70R, Class AA, Class A, and Class B loading is studied based on the maximum bending moment with moving load applied in Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis. The spans considered in the analysis varied from 10 m to 1991 m corresponding to the span of Akashi Kaikyo Bridge (longest bridge span in the world). A total of 182 analyses for 7 types of vehicles (class B, class A, class 70R tracked, class 70R wheeled, class AA tracked, AA wheeled, and Special vehicle) on 26 different span lengths is carried out. The span corresponding to other vehicles which would equal the bending moment of a single SV is presented along with a comparison relative to Standard Uniformly Distributed Load. Further, the results are presented by introducing a new parameter named Intensity Factor which is proven to relate the effect of axle spacing of vehicle on the normalized bending moment developed.

  • State Estimation (SE) is the basis of a variety of advanced applications used in most modern power systems. An SE problem formed with enough phasor measurement units (PMUs) data is simply a linear weighted least squares problem requiring no iterations. Thus, designing a minimum-cost placement of PMUs that guarantees observability of a power system becomes a worthy challenge. This paper proposes an equivalent integer linear programming method for substation-oriented optimal PMU placement (SOOPP). The proposed method uses an exhaustive search to determine a globally optimal solution representing the best PMU placement for that particular power system. To obtain a more comprehensive model, contingencies and the limitation of the number of PMU measurement channels are considered and embodied in the model as changes to the original constraints and as additional constraints. The proposed method is examined for applicability using the IEEE 14-bus, 118-bus and 300-bus test systems. The comparison between SOOPP results and results obtained by other methods reveals the excellence of SOOPP. Furthermore, practical large-scale power systems are also successfully analyzed using SOOPP.

  • PURPOSES : The first generation of wide base tires introduced in the early 1980s was found to cause a significant increase in pavement damage compared to dual-tire assemblies. However, wide base tires have evolved considerably, and a new generation of wide base tire is thought to be comparable to conventional dual tires for pavement damage. A challenge associated with using wide base tires is the accurate quantification of pavement damage induced by these tires. The objective of this study was to investigate the responses of flexible pavement to continuously moving vehicular loading under various tire configurations. METHODS : The comparison of the strain/stress responses of full-depth pavement caused by conventional dual tire assembly and new generation of wide-base tires was performed. The FE model incorporates linear viscoelasticity of asphalt material and continuous moving load using implicit dynamic analysis. RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS : The result demonstrates that the new wide-base tires caused slightly more fatigue damage and less primary rutting damage in HMA layer than a dual-tire assembly, but caused more secondary rutting damage in subgrade than a dual tire assembly.

  • Heterogeneous wireless sensor networks (HEWSN) is a kind of wireless sensor networks (WSN), each sensor may has different attributes, HEWSN has been widely used in many aspects. Due to sensors are deployed in unattended environments and its resource constrained feature, the design of security and efficiency balanced authentication scheme for HEWSN becomes a vital challenge. In this paper, we propose a secure and lightweight user authentication and key agreement scheme based on biometric for HEWSN. Firstly, fuzzy extractor is adopted to handle the user's biometric information. Secondly, we achieve mutual authentication and key agreement among three entities, which are user, gateway and cluster head in the four phases. Finally, formal security analysis shows that the proposed scheme defends against various security pitfalls. Additionally, comparison results with other surviving relevant schemes show that our scheme is more efficient in term of computational cost, communication cost and estimated time. Therefore, the proposed scheme is well suitable for practical application in HEWSN.

  • A vaccine was prepared by $10^6$ r cobalt-60 irradiation of lyophilized virulent Brucella melitensis and tested in mice for immunogenic activity against a lethal challenge dose of the homologous strain. The vaccine(GIV) produced a high degree of immunity in mice, and comparative studies demonstrated it to be superior to vaccines prepared by heat or by chemical(ether, formalin, or phenol) treatment. Living vaccines, Brucella abortus. strain 19 and an R-form of Brucella melitensis were lethal for mice in larger doses. A comparison of seven adjuvant mixtures for use with the GIV showed no statistically significant difference, but. Freund's complete adjuvant and a mixture of aluminum-potassium sulfate and pectin appeared to enhance the activity of the GIV.

  • By integrating of intrinsic motivation theory and flow theory, this study sought to investigate the causal linkage among optimal balance of video game player's perceived skill and challenge, flow experience, intrinsic motivation and video game genre usage. A path analysis showed that the different types of video game usage were directly influenced by players' intrinsic motivations, which were also reinforced by players' flow experiences of enjoyment. However, the path model with a multiple group approach provided no strong evidence for gender differences in the relationships between the variables of interest.
