한국과 미국 50~64세 성인의 예방적 건강행위 비교 (Comparison of Preventive Health Behaviors in Adults Aged 50~64 in Korea and the United States)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare Preventive Health Behaviors (PHBs) in adults in Korea and the United States and identify factors influencing PHBs. Methods: This was a secondary data analysis study using data from the 2008 Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey and the 2008 USA Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System. The PHBs were predicted using multiple linear regression analysis. Results: 1) The total score of PHBs was significantly higher in American males (5.11) than in Korean males (4.78). There was also a significant difference between Korean females' total score (6.57) and American females'(6.75). 2) Age, marriage, monthly income, subjective health status, and cardiovascular disease were significant factors of PHBs in Korean males (p<.001). However, age, marriage, education, monthly income, health insurance, subjective health status, and cardiovascular disease were significant factors in American males (p<.001). In Korean females, only age and education were significant predictors (p<.001). However, six variables(age, marriage, education, monthly income, health insurance, and subjective health status) were significant predictors in American females (p<.001). Conclusion: There were different variables in predicting PHBs between Koreans and Americans. Each country should focus on those significant predictors to promote the PHBs for adults.

티셔츠디자인에 활용된 한자(汉字)의 캘리그라피 분석 - 중국과 미국의 사례비교를 중심으로 - (The analysis of Chinese Character's Calligraphy which is applied to the T-shirt design - By contrast between China and USA's example -)

  • 세계에서 사용 인구가 제일 많은 한자는 커뮤니케이션 수단으로서 만이 아니라 풍부한 문화적 가치와 조형미를 지니고 있어 오늘날 우리 생활디자인 소재로 많이 활용되고 있다. 티셔츠에 활용된 한자의 캘리그라피는 언어적 측면에서 메시지의 전달력이 강하고, 조형적 측면에 있어서 개성이 강하게 드러날 수 있기에 많은 젊은이들이 선호하는 패턴디자인 중 하나이다. 본 연구에서는 한자의 조형적인 측면과 중국과 미국의 한자 캘리그라피 티셔츠디자인들의 사례들을 수집하여 문자의 수, 구조, 서체, 크기, 배치, 색, 기타 표현방식을 비교분석한다. 또한 이러한 캘리그라피 표현이 활용된 다른 분야의 패션디자인분야를 조사하고 다양한 표현형식을 벤치마킹하여 중국 한자 캘리그라피를 활용한 티셔츠디자인의 프로토타입을 개발하고자 한다.

하악 구치부에서 임플랜트 배열방식에 따른 임플랜트지지 고정성 국소의치의 광탄성 응력 분석 (PHOTOELASTIC STRESS ANALYSIS OF IMPLANT SUPPORTED FIXED PROSTHESES WITH DIFFERENT PLACEMENT CONFIGURATIONS IN MANDIBULAR POSTERIOR REGION)

  • Statement of problem. More than 70% of patients who need the implant supported restoration are parially edentulous. The principles of design for implant supported fixed partial denture in mandibular posterior region are many and varied. Jurisdiction for their use is usually based on clinical evaluation. There are several areas or interest regarding the design of implant supported fixed partial denture in mandibular posterior region. 1) Straight and tripod configuration in implant placement, 2) Two restoration types such as individualized and splinted restorations. Purpose. The purpose of this study was to compare the amount and distribution of stress around the implant fixtures placed in the mandibular posterior region with two different arrangements and to evaluate the effects of splinting using the photoelastic stress analysis. Material & methods. 1) Production of study model: Mandibular partially edentulous model was waxed-up and duplicated with silicone and two models were poured in stone. 2) Fixture installation and photoelastic model construction: Using surveyor(Ney, USh), 3 fixtures(two 4.0 $\times$13 mm, one 5.0$\times$10 mm, Lifecore, USA) were insta)led in straight & tripod configurations. Silicone molds were made and poured in photoelastic resin (PL-2. Measurements group, USA). 3) Prostheses construction: Four 3-unit bridges (Type III gold alloy, Dongmyung co., Korea) were produced with nonhexed and hexed UCLA abutments and fitted with conventional methods. The abutments were tightened with 30 Ncm torque and the static loads were applied at 12 points of the occlusal surface. 4) Photoelastic stress analysis : The polarizer analyzer system with digital camera(S-2 Pro, Fujifilm, Japan) was used to take the photoelastic fringes and analysed using computer analysis program. Results. Solitary hexed UCLA restoration developed different stress patterns between two implant arrangement configurations, but there were no stress transfer to adjacent implants from the loaded implant in both configurations. However splinted restorations showed lesser amount of stresses in the loaded implants and showed stress transfer to adjacent implants in both configurations. Solitary hexed UCLA restoration with tripod configuration developed higher stresses in anterior and middle implants under loading than implants with straight configurations. Splintied 3 unit fixed partial dentures with tripod configuration showed higher stress development in posterior implant under loading but there were no obvious differences between two configurations. Conclusions. The tripod configuration of implant arrangement didn't show any advantages over the straight configuration. Splinting of 3 unit bridges with nonhexed UCLA abutments showed less stress development around the fixtures. Solitary hexed UCLA restoration developed tilting of implant fixture under offset loads.

노인에서 머리회전을 동반한 보행이 보행변수에 미치는 영향 (Effects of the Head-Turn Gait on Gait Parameters in the Elderly)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of older adult's head-turn gait on gait parameters by comparing with head oriented forward gait and to provide criteria for their risk of falling compared to young adult. Methods: The subjects were 19 young adults in their 20s and 18 older adults in their 60s or above residing in Daegu or Gyeongsangbuk-do. To evaluate their gait parameters, spatiotemporal gait parameters were measured using a gait analysis tool (Legsys, BioSensics, USA) under two conditions: 1) walking while keeping one's eyes forward and 2) walking while turning the head. The measurement for each test was performed after one practice session, and the mean value of three measurements was analyzed. The collected data were statistically processed using a two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) to compare any differences in gait parameters between the two groups under the two conditions. The statistical significance level was set at α=0.05. Results: According to the comparison of gait parameters in young adult and older adult between the head oriented forward gait and head-turn gait, statistically significant differences were observed in two parameters: stride length according to the height ratio and stride speed obtained by dividing the stride length according to the height ratio by time (p<0.05). Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that the head-turn gait causes greater differences in stride length and speed among older adult than in young adult and therefore can act as a cause of falling.

요양병원환자에게 적용한 김치유산균 함유 동치미즙의 구강간호효과: 클로르헥시딘 용액과의 비교 (The Effect of Dongchimi Juice Containing Kimchi Lactobacillus on the Oral Health of Patients at a Long-Term Care Hospital: Comparison with Chlorhexidine Solution)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to identify the effect of Dongchimi juice containing kimchi Lactobacillus as an oral hygiene agent and to compare it with that of chlorhexidine solution (0.12% dilution). Methods: This study employed a pretest-posttest experimental design in which a single group of patients was exposed to two different treatments over a period of time. The study included 32 patients hospitalized at a longterm care hospital in Korea. Data were collected between August 12, 2016 and September 28, 2016. The patients first used chlorhexidine solution as an oral care agent for 1 week. After an interval of 2 weeks, they used Dongchimi juice for 1 week. Each agent was applied 2 times a day depending on the protocol. The oral status of the patients was measured using Beck's Oral Exam Guide (OEG) scores. The number of pathogens in the oral cavity was counted by culture, and the patients' subjective satisfaction score for each oral agent was measured using a visual analogue scale. T-test and Mann-Whitney test were performed to identify significant differences between Dongchimi juice and chlorhexidine solution by using PASW Statistics for Windows, Version 18.0 (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA). Results: The OEG score was not statistically different with the use of chlorhexidine solution and Dongchimi juice. However, decreasing number of pathogens and the subjective satisfaction score were higher with Dongchimi juice than with the chlorhexidine solution. Conclusion: These findings support the use of Dongchimi juice containing kimchi Lactobacillus as an oral hygiene agent for Korean patients.

TWO COLORIMETRIC ASSAYS VERIFY THAT CALCIUM SULFATE PROMOTES PROLIFERATING ACTIVITY OF HUMAN GINGIVAL FIBROBLASTS

  • Statement of problem. The role of calcium sulfate in stimulating the growth of gingival soft tissue has been reported in few studies. Such a unique property of calcium sulfate could serve as a trouble-solving broker in compensating for the lack of soft tissues in various oral surgeries. Purpose. The purpose of this study was to compare the proliferating activities of human gingival fibroblasts seeded on various bone graft barrier materials of calcium sulfate, collagen, and polytetrafluorethylene (PTFE). Material and methods. Two calcium sulfates ($CAPSET^{(R)}$. and $CalForma^{(R)}$, Lifecore Biomedical Inc., St. Paul, Minnesota, USA), a resorbable natural collagen ($Bio-Gide^{(R)}$, Geistlich Pharma Ag., Wolhusen, Switzerland), and a non-resorbable PTFE ($TefGen-FD^{(R)}$, Lifecore Biomedical Inc., St. Paul, Minnesota, USA) served as the human gingival fibroblasts' substrates and comprised the four experimental groups, whereas the untreated floors of culture plastics were used in the control group, in this study. Cells were trypsinized, seeded, and incubated for 48 h. The proliferating activities of fibroblasts were determined by XTT and SRB assay and absorbance (optical density, OD) was measured. One-way ANOVA was used to analyze the differences in the mean OD values between the groups of CAPSET, CalForma, Bio-Gide, TefGen, and the control (p<0.05). Results. From the XTT assay, the mean OD value of the control group, the highest, was significantly greater than that of any of the four experimental groups followed by CalForma, CAPSET, TefGen, and Bio-Gide. Further, the mean OD value of CalForma, was significantly greater compared to that of Bio-Gide. From the SRB assay, Calforma showed the highest mean OD value, which was significantly greater than that of any other groups, followed by the control, CAPSET, Bio-Gide, and TefGen. The mean OD values of both the control and CAPSET were significantly greater compared to that of TefGen (p<0.05). Conclusion. Assessment of the viability and proliferation of cultured fibroblasts seeded and incubated for 48 h on various barrier-material substrates using XTT and SRB assay showed that calcium sulfate $CalForma^{(R)}$ promotes the proliferating activity of human gingival fibroblasts.

정보활용능력의 관점에서 본 한국과 미국의 대학평가인증기준 비교.분석 (A Comparative Analysis on University Accreditation Standards of Korea and USA in the View Point of Information Literacy)

  • 최근 들어, 고등교육기관으로서의 대학은 교육성과와 품질을 보장해야 할 사회적 책무성에 직면해 있다. 대학평가인증제도는 대학교육의 책무성을 담보하기 위한 수단으로써 국제적으로 널리 이용되고 있다. 미국의 대학평가인증기준은 물적, 인적자원 등 투입요소 대신에 문제해결능력, 비판적 분석력, 창의력과 같은 학습성과를 강조하고 있다. 또한, 미국의 대학평가인증기준은 정보활용능력을 주요 학습성과로 간주하고 있다. 본 연구는 도서관 및 정보활용능력의 관점에서 한국과 미국의 대학평가인증기준을 비교 분석하고, 한국의 대학평가인증기준에 정보활용능력에 관한 사항을 어떻게 적용해야 할 것인가 하는 기본 방향을 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 한국의 대학평가인증기준은 학습성과를 강화하는 측면에서 정보활용능력을 반영하고, 단순 강의 수준을 벗어나 도서관 사서와 담당교수와의 협력수업을 기준에 반영할 필요가 있다.

Lnug Volume을 모델로 한 방사선치료계획 시 불균질 조직 보정에 따른 효과 (Effect of Inhomogeneity correction for lung volume model in TPS)

  • 서론 : 폐암환자의 방사선치료계획 시 불균질 조직 보정(inhomogeneity correction)을 평가하기 위해 폐(lung), (bone) 그리고 뼈를 고정시키기 위해 사용하는 고밀도 물질인 steel 등을 포함한 불균질 조직 보정 팬텀(inhomogeneity correction phantom, ICP)을 자체 제작하였다. 이를 이용하여 방사선치료계획시스템에서 불균질조직 보정 알고리듬에 따른 값들을 비교하고, 또한 실제 측정된 값과 비교, 분석하여 불균질 조직에 따른 선량계산 변화를 평가하고자 하였다. 대상 및 방법 : 영상획득은 전산화단층촬영영상장치(CT, Volume zoom, Germany)와 자체 제작한 불균질 조직 보정팬텀(ICP, pig's vertebra, steel(8.21 g/cm3), cork(0.23 g/cm3))을 사용하였다. 방사선치료계획시스템으로는 Marks Plan(2D)과 XiO(CMS, USA, 3D)를 사용하였고, 측정값과의 비교를 위해서는 선형가속기(CL/1800, Varian, USA)와 이온전리함을 사용하였다. 전산화단층촬영영상장치로부터 획득한 영상을 이용하여 방사선치료계획장치에서 관심점(interest point, IP)에서의 점선량(point dose)과 선량분포를 얻고, 이와 동일한 조건에서 측정을 수행한 후 비교, 분석하였다. 그리고 불균질 조직 보정 알고리듬 사용 유무에 따른 차이와 방사선치료계획장치가 가지고 있는 다양한 불균질 조직 보정 알고리듬 간의 차이도 비교하였다. 결 과 : 불균질 조직 보정 팬텀 내 관심지점에 대한 측정치와 방사선치료계획장치에서 얻은 균질과 불균질 보정된 값을 비교한 결과 폐 제1지점에서의 측정치와 불균질 보정값의 오차는 2D에서 $0.8\%$, 3D에서 $0.5\%$, 스틸 제1지점에서의 측정치와 불균질 보정값의 오차는 2D에서 $12\%$, 3D에서 $5\%$의 오차를 보이나 보정을 하지 않은 값과 측정치의 오차는 각각 $16\%,\;14\%$의 오차가 나는 것을 알 수 있었다. 또한 2D에서 보다는 3D에서의 값들이 오차가 적은 것으로 나타났다. 결 론 : 방사선치료계획 시 조직 내 밀도에 따른 보정이 반드시 이루어져야 하며 보다 정확한 치료계획을 위해서는 2차원 방사선치료계획용 시스템보다는 3차원 방사선치료계획용 시스템을 사용하는 것이 정확한 보정이 가능한 것을 알 수 있었다. 그리고 불균질 조직 보정 알고리듬 간에도 차이가 있어 실제 측정을 통해 가장 적합한 불균질 조직 보정 알고리듬을 선택하는 것이 필수적이라 할 수 있다. 향후 열형광선량계와 필름 선량계를 통한 비교, 분석이 추가적으로 수행되어야 할 것으로 사료된다.

코어 형태와 시멘트 종류에 따른 전부주조금관의 유지력에 관한 연구 (A STUDY OF CORE TYPE AND LUTING CEMENTS ON COMPLETE CAST CROWN RETENTION)

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the retention of complete cast crown over amalgam ores, composite resin cores, and cast gold cores when cemented with three different luting agents. Eighteen core specimens each of amalgam(Bestaloy, Dong Myung, Seoul, Korea), composite resin (Z100, 3M Dental product, st. Paul, Minn) and type IV gold alloy (Ba-4, Heesung Engelhard Corp., Korea) were made in a customized milling stainless steel die. A wax pattern with a loop attached to occlusal surface was made for each core and a type II gold alloy casting was fabricated. The castings which had clinically acceptable marginal fit were used as test samples. The following luting cements were used to cement cast crowns on each core material : (1) zinc phosphate cement (Confi-dental Products Co., USA) (2) glass-ionomer cement (Fuji Plus, GC Industrial Corp., Tokyo, Japan) (3) resin cement (Panavia 21, Kuraray Co., USA). All cements were mixed according to manufacturers' instructions. A static load of 5kg was then applied for 10 minutes on the crowns. All specimens were stored in saline solution for 24 hours at $37^{\circ}C$ and thermocycled for 500 cycles. After storage and cycling, the tensile bond strengths were measured by using a universal testing machine (Instron Corp., Canton, Mass.) at a crosshead speed of 0.5mm/min. The results were as follows 1. The retentive strength of resin cement was the highest of alt three types of cement for resin core (p<0.05). 2. There was no statistical difference among the retentive strengths of three cements for amalgam core (p>0.05). 3. The retentive strength of resin cement was higher than that of zinc phosphate for cast core, but there was no difference between the retentive strength of glass ionomer cement and those of rein and zinc phosphate cement. 4. The retentive strength of the zinc phosphate cement for amalgam core was the highest of all type of cores.

치기공사의 은퇴 및 노후준비 -수도권 지역 치기공사를 대상으로- (Retirement and old age preparation of dental technicians -Targeting the metropolitan area dental technicians-)

  • Purpose: This study investigated perception and plan of dental technologists regarding the old age and retirement for them to enjoy stable old age. Methods: Dental technologists working in Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggido were asked to fill out a self-administered questionnaire, and a total of 200 copies were used for analysis. The collected data were statistically analyzed by using SPSS 22.0(Statistical Package for Social Sciences. Chicago, IL, USA) (a=0.05). In order to compare perception toward old age preparation among the subjects, a Chi-square test was performed, and, to investigate the level of preparedness for old age according to general characteristics, t-test was performed. Results: In the analysis of the old age preparedness by age, there was a significant difference in financial preparation, Asset identification, use of retiring allowance, information gathering, senior town home, and stability (p<0.05). To the questions regarding perception toward retirement, the majority of the subjects (60.5%) answered they had thought about retirement, and many (23.9%) of them attributed the reason to job stress (23.9%). Regarding old age preparedness according to workplace, there was a significant difference in use of retirement allowance and education for old age preparedness between general dental laboratories and general hospitals (p<0.05). Conclusion: It is believed that, for preparation of dental technologists for stable old age, in addition to their personal effort, it is important to provide social support and practical measures to ensure welfare and retirement.
