In this paper, we studied a method for miniaturizing a broadband stacked patch antenna structure which is widely used for bandwidth improvement. Main patch is a rectangular microstrip patch antenna fed by a 50-ohm microstrip line, and a parasitic patch is laid above the main patch. The size of the main patch is designed to be resonated near the center frequency of the desired frequency band. Then parasitic patch longer than main patch is placed above the main patch. The distance between two patches might be adjusted so as to achieve impedance matching using a shunt open stub. The shunt matching stub is inserted underneath the parasitic patch and so it does not require additional space, which enables the proposed antenna structure to be advantageous in miniaturizing antenna. The effects of the various parameters on the antenna performance are examined, and we introduced the design procedure for the proposed antenna to operate in the frequency range of 2.3-2.7 GHz.

The crack growth responses of as-received and as-welded Alloy 600/182 and Alloy 690/152 welds to constant loading were measured by a direct current potential drop method using compact tension specimens in primary water at $325^{\circ}C$ simulating the normal operating conditions of a nuclear power plant. The as-received Alloy 600 showed crack growth rates (CGRs) between $9.6{\times}10^{-9}mm/s$ and $3.8{\times}10^{-8}mm/s$, and the as-welded Alloy 182 had CGRs between $7.9{\times}10^{-8}mm/s$ and $7.5{\times}10^{-7}mm/s$ within the range of the applied loadings. These results indicate that Alloys 600 and 182 are susceptible to cracking. The average CGR of the as-welded Alloy 152 was found to be $2.8{\times}10^{-9}mm/s$. Therefore, Alloy 152 was proven to be highly resistant to cracking. The as-received Alloy 690 showed no crack growth even with an inhomogeneous banded microstructure. The cracking mode of Alloys 600 and 182 was an intergranular cracking; however, Alloy 152 was revealed to have a mixed (intergranular + transgranular) cracking mode. It appears that the Cr concentration and the microstructural features significantly affect the cracking resistance and the cracking behavior of Ni-base alloys in PWR primary water.

The Granule Spray in Vacuum (GSV) process is a method of forming a dense nanostructured ceramic coating film by spraying ceramic granules on a substrate at room temperature in a vacuum. In the Granule Spray, the granules made by agglomerating particles with the size from submicrometer to micrometer can be sprayed into the substrate. Once the granules were squashed upon collision with the substrate, they become several dozens of nanometer-sized crystals in vacuum process. The zirconia of the monoclinic phase transform into tetragonal phase at 1150℃. At this time, its volume is changed by about 6.5 %. For this reason, it is widely held that it is difficult to acquire a compact of monoclinic zirconia sinter. In this study, the effect of particle treatment temperature and standoff distance on the substrate of zirconia granules were investigated in GSV. Also, particle treatment temperature, standoff distance, coating efficiency, and microstructure of the film were considered in forming the monoclinic zirconia coating film in GSV without any heating process. The deposited films exhibited monoclinic zirconia phase without any other detectable phase by X-ray diffractometer (XRD).

A new axial flux permanent magnet machine with soft magnetic composited cores is proposed for electric vehicle application in this paper. The windings and soft magnetic composited cores can be designed to form a very compact structure, and; thus, the torque density can be improved greatly. To obtain the a good flux concentrating ability, two toroidally wound internal stator machines are designed and analyzed, and the designed motor is with NdFeB magnet for high-performance electric vehicle application. The 3-D finite-element method is used to analyze the electromagnetic parameter and performance, for performance comparison, a commercial axial flux permanent magnet machine is used. The proposed motor reduced weight about 5.8%, produced torque higher than about 8Nm for existing motor.
The micropile, which is a kind of the in-situ manufactured pile with small diameter of $150\sim300mm$, is constructed by installing a steel bar or pipe and injecting grout into a borehole. The application fields of micropile are being gradually expanded in a limited space of down-town area, because the micropile has various advantages with low vibration and noise in method and compact size in machine, etc. Mostly, the micropile has been applied to secure the safety of structures, depending on the increment of bearing capacity and the restraint of displacement. The micropile is expected to be used in various fields due to its effectiveness and potentiality in the future. The model test, focused on the interaction between micropile and soil in this study, was carried out. The micropile is installed in a soil adjacent to footing (concept of 'soil reinforcement'). With the test results and soil deformation analysis, the reinforcement effect (relating to bearing capacity and settlement) was analysed in a qualitative and quantitative manner, respectively. Consequently, it is expected that we nay demonstrate the improvement of an efficiency and application in the design and construction of micropile.

The specially-shaped Polycrystalline Diamond Compact (PDC) cutter is widely used in drill bit design due to its advantages of high rock cutting efficiency, strong impact resistance and long service life in hard and abrasive formation drilling. A detailed understanding of rock cutting behavior of worn specially-shaped PDC cutter is essential to improve the drilling efficiency and decrease the drilling costs. In this paper, the theoretical models of two new principles (loading performance (LP) and cutting performance (CP)) are derived for evaluating the cutting process of worn specially-shaped cutter, the theoretical models consider the factors, such as cutter geometry, aggressiveness, stress state, working life, and rock cutting efficiency. Besides, the numerical model of heterogeneous granite is developed using finite element method combined with Voronoi tessellation, the LP and CP of 12 kinds of worn specially-shaped PDC (SPDC) cutters are analyzed. The results found that the mechanical specific energy (MSE) of worn cutters first increase and then decrease with increasing the cutting depth, and the MSE increase with the increase of back rake angle except for Conical cutter and Wedge-shaped cutter. From the perspective of CP, the worn PDC cutters are more suitable for the smaller cutting depths, and the back rake angle has little effect on the CP of the specially-shaped worn PDC cutters. Conical cutter, Saddle-shaped cutter and Ellipse-shaped cutter have the highest CP value, while Rhombus-shaped cutter, Convex cutter and Wedge-shaped cutter have the lowest value in selecting cutters. This research leads to an enhanced understanding of rock-breaking mechanisms of worn SPDC cutters, and provides the basis to select of specially-shaped PDC cutters for the specific target formation.
The purpose of this study is to demonstrate and verify the application of phase-control absolute-acceleration-feedback active tuned mass dampers (PCA-ATMD) to multiple-degree-of-freedom (MDOF) building structures. In addition, servo speed control technique has been developed as a replacement for force control in order to mitigate the negative effects caused by friction and inertia. The essence of the proposed PCA-ATMD is to achieve a 90° phase lag for a structure by implementing the desired control force so that the PCA-ATMD can receive the maximum power flow with which to effectively mitigate the structural vibration. An MDOF building structure with a PCA-ATMD and a real-time filter forming a complete system is modeled using a state-space representation and is presented in detail. The feedback measurement for the phase control algorithm of the MDOF structure is compact, with only the absolute acceleration of one structural floor and ATMD's velocity relative to the structure required. A discrete-time direct output-feedback optimization method is introduced to the PCA-ATMD to ensure that the control system is optimized and stable. Numerical simulation and shaking table experiments are conducted on a three-story steel shear building structure to verify the performance of the PCA-ATMD. The results indicate that the absolute acceleration of the structure is well suppressed whether considering peak or root-mean-square responses. The experiment also demonstrates that the control of the PCA-ATMD can be decentralized, so that it is convenient to apply and maintain to real high-rise building structures.
In this paper, the design method for a chipless RFID tag using ELC resonators is proposed. A four-bit chipless RFID tag is designed in a two by two array configuration using three ELC resonators with different resonant peak frequencies and one compact IDC resonator. The resonant peak frequency of the bistatic RCS for the IDC resonator is 3.125 GHz, whereas those of the three ELC resonators are adjusted to be at 4.225 GHz, 4.825 GHz, and 5.240 GHz, respectively, by using the gap between the capacitor-shaped strips in the ELC resonator. The spacing between the resonators is 1 mm. Proposed four-bit tag is fabricated on an RF-301 substrate with dimensions of 50 mm×20 mm and a thickness of 0.8 mm. It is observed from experiment results that the resonant peak frequencies of the fabricated four-bit chipless RFID tag are 3.290 GHz, 4.295 GHz, 4.835 GHz, and 5.230 GHz, respectively, which is similar to the simulation results with errors in the range between -2.3% and 0.2%.
