병원 간호사의 의사소통 능력, 의사소통 유형, 조직몰입간의 관계 (Relationship among Communication Competence, Communication Types, and Organizational Commitment in Hospital Nurses)

  • Purpose: This study was done to explore the relationship in hospital nurses' of communication competence, communication types, and organizational commitment and to provide basic data for developing programs to improve internal communication and to promote nurses' commitment to their organizations. Methods: The participants included 316 nurses who worked in two general hospitals. The tools used for this study were the Global Interpersonal Communication Competence Scale (GICC) and Communication Satisfaction Questionnaire by Downs & Hazen (1981), revised by Seo (2002) and Mowday's tool (1979) for organizational commitment. Data were analyzed using SPSS/PC+12.0. Results: The mean score for communication competence was 3.46, and for organizational commitment, 3.19. For communication types, the mean score for formal communication was 3.18 and informal communication, 2.59. Communication competence had a positive relationship with formal communication (r=.32) and with informal communication (r=.16). Organizational commitment had a positive relationship with formal communication (r=.53), communication competence (r=.30), and informal communication (r=.27). Conclusion: The results indicate the necessity of developing programs to promote nurses' communication competence and also developing a system that will enrich active communication. Systematic and continuous training in communication is also highly recommended.

일반간호사의 조직 내 의사소통 유형과 직무만족 및 간호업무성과의 관계 (Relations Between the Types of Communication and, Job Satisfaction and Nursing Performance in Staff Nurses)

  • This study attempts to investigate the relations between the types of communication, the job satisfaction. and the nursing performance of the staff nurses. The subjects of this study were the 114 nurses working in general wards, intensive care units, and the emergency rooms of the general hospital in Kyongbuk province. They were asked to answer the questionnaires as regards the types of communication and job satisfaction, and their performance of nursing, and these were evaluated by the head nurses, and their direct seniors. The data were collected for 10 days from the September 17 to 26, 2002. According to the purpose of the study, descriptive analysis, ANOVA. Pearson correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression were applied for the data analysis using SPSS 10.0. The results are as follows : 1. The types of communication of staff nurses showed that the upward communication was $3.12\pm0.56$. the downward communication was $3.56\pm0.42$. the horizontal communication was $2.98\pm0.44$. and the informal communication was $2.59\pm0.49$. It showed that the most frequent communication was the downward communication. 2. In terms of the job satisfaction, there was significant difference according to the length of the period working for one ward (F=5.95, p=0.003), 3. The performance of nursing was significantly different according to the age (F=23.52, p=0.000), the working duration as a nurses (F=21.9, p=0.000), the types of nursing unit (F=5.33, p=0.002), and the working duration in present nursing unit (F=15.87, p=0.000). 4. In terms of communication type, the job satisfaction was associated with quality of the upward communication (F=6.23, p=0.003), the downward communication (F=5.78, p=0.004), and the horizontal communication (F=11.73, p=0.000) There were no association between the types of communication and the performance of nursing. 5. There was a positive correlation between the communication and the job satisfaction. And the downward communication (r=0.398) showed the greatest correlation with the job satisfaction. There was no statistically significant correlation between the communication and the performance of nursing. And the upward communication (r=-0.058) showed a negative, though not significant correlation with performance of nursing. 5. 중환자실 간호사의 대상자 중심(Patient Centered) 의사소통 역량수준 및 관련요인 (Factors Related to Intensive Care Unit Nurses' Patient Centered Communication Competency)

  • Purpose : This study aimed to provide primary data for developing a program to enhance communication competence by identifying the patient-centered communication competency level of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nurses and the related factors. Method : Data were collected from August 28th to October 8th, 2015, from 199 ICU nurses working in 30 tertiary hospitals. The study questionnaire included items assessing the patient-centered communication competency of ICU nurses, nursing organizational culture, types of communication, the Teamwork Measurement Tool, the Perceived Nursing Work Environment tool, and the Wong & Law Emotional Intelligence Scale. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, a correlation test, and a multiple regression. Results : The ICU nurses' mean score on patient-centered communication competency was 3.97 points. The factors influencing the patient-centered communication competency level of ICU nurses were professionalism (p =.002), innovation-oriented organizational culture (p =.015), and emotional intelligence (p<.001). These variables explained 42.2% of the total variance in the patient-centered communication competency of ICU nurses. Conclusion : These findings suggest the need for developing a patient-centered communication competency improvement program that focuses on improving ICU nurses' professionalism and emotional intelligence, and facilitates the creation of an innovation-oriented organizational culture.

간호사의 조직내 대인관계 역량에 관한 구조모형 (The Structural Modeling for Nurses' Interpersonal Competence within an Organization)

  • Purpose: This study was designed to identify a path model that anticipates the interpersonal competence of nurses by anticipating factors that explain interpersonal competence within an organization, and analyzing the effects of these factors. A hypothetical model was formulated based on a literature review of interpersonal competence. For the study, influential factors were divided into two variables: exogenous variables including communication style, coaching leadership, and social support, and endogenous variables of self-efficacy, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment. Methods: The sample included 202 hospital nurses. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using SPSS and AMOS. Results: The overall fitness was good ($x^2=74.707$, p<.001), d.f=19, $x^2/df=3.932$, GFI=.940, AGFI=.826, RMR=.009). Social support, self-efficacy, horizontal communication and organizational commitment directly affected the interpersonal competence of the nurses, and informal type of communication, horizontal, upward communication and coaching leadership indirectly effected the interpersonal competence of the nurses. Horizontal communication, social support, self-efficacy, and organizational commitment explained 46.5% of the variance in interpersonal competence of nurses. Conclusion: Based on the study results, nurses in hospitals need informal types of communication, horizontal, upward communication and coaching leadership to increase their interpersonal competence.

중소병원 간호사의 의사소통 유형과 감정노동 및 직무스트레스 (Communication Type, Emotional Labor, and Job Stress of Nurses in Small and Medium-sized Hospitals)

  • 본 연구는 중소병원 간호사의 의사소통 유형과 감정노동 및 직무스트레스 간의 관계를 확인하고 직무스트레스에 영향을 미치는 요인을 확인하기 위해 시도된 서술적 조사연구이다. 연구 대상은 G광역시에 소재한 6개 중소병원 간호사 192명을 임의 표출하였다. 연구도구는 의사소통 유형, 감정노동, 직무스트레스 측정을 위한 구조화된 설문지를 사용하여 2019년 8월20일부터 9월10일까지 자료수집하였다. 연구결과, 대상자의 의사소통 유형은 평균 3.55±0.31점, 감정노동은 3.21±0.59점, 직무스트레스는 3.44±0.52점이었다. 직무스트레스는 의사소통 유형 중 친화적 의사소통과 통계적으로 유의한 음의 상관관계를, 감정노동과는 통계적으로 유의한 양의 상관관계를 보였다. 직무스트레스에 영향을 주는 요인은 성별, 총 임상경력, 감정노동이었고 28.0%의 설명력을 보였다. 향후 간호사의 직무스트레스를 줄이기 위해서는 감정노동에 대한 효율적인 관리전략이 필요할 것으로 사료된다

혈액투석실 간호사 의사소통 유형 분석 (Communication Types in Nurses Caring for Patients on Hemodialysis)

  • 본 연구는 혈액투석 간호사를 대상으로 환자와 이루어지는 의사소통의 행위를 확인하고 그 유형을 Q방법론을 기반으로 분석하기 위해 수행되었다. 서울과 경기안양에 위치하고 있는 2개 병원 혈액투석실에서 근무하는 간호사 10명으로 혈액투석 간호사의 Q모집단을 구성하여 심층면담을 시행하였으며, 문헌 자료와 심층면담 결과를 기반으로 의사소통 유형연구를 대표할 수 있는 진술문을 추출하였고 그 결과를 간호학을 전공한 교수 1인의 의견을 수렴하여 Q표본 50개를 선정하였다. 선정된 Q표본을 기반으로 1차, 2차 및 3차 병원으로 구성된 서울시내 소재 5개 병원 혈액투석실에서 근무하는 간호사 30명을 P표본으로 선정하여 Q분류를 시행하였다. 이렇게 해서 도출된 Q분류결과를 pc-QUANL 프로그램을 이용해 분석을 진행했으며 그 결과를 바탕으로 혈액투석간호사의 대표적인 의사소통 행위유형을 도출하였다. 본 연구의 결과로 혈액투석실 근무간호사의 의사소통 행위유형은 유형 I '적극적 경청형', 유형 II '수용적 경청형', 유형 III '설명적 충고형', 유형 IV '방어적 초이성형'의 4가지로 분류되었다. 본 연구의 결과는 혈액투석간호사의 치료적인 의사소통 교육을 위한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

병원 간호사의 조직침묵에 관한 근거이론적 접근 (Nurses' Organizational Silence in Hospitals: A Grounded Theoretical Approach)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to explore the constructs and context of hospital nurses' organizational silence. Methods: In-depth interviews were conducted with 17 nurses in small-middle general hospitals as well as big university hospitals. We then derived the key themes using grounded theory method. Results: Nine themes and 30 sub-themes were derived: "Willing to be recognized for performance rather than saying", "Getting used to the hard-to-speak climate", "Face the reality that does not change when said", "Complicated situation that prevents self-regulating decision-making", "Conflicts that are difficult to confront", "Unfair responsibilities that I want to evade", "Leaders who don't support me", and "Being blocked in communication". Consequently, the nurses learned to adopt a climate of silence and "learned organizational silence" behavior. They experienced that prosocial silence was essential for obtaining approval as a member of the group, and defensive silence for protecting themselves in the hierarchical structure and unfair responsibilities. Acquiescent silence originated from a futile relationship with their supervisors, one-way communications, and the unsupportive management system, in which three types of silence appeared sequentially or in combination with each other. Conclusion: Based on these results, nursing managers should identify the context of nurses' organizational silence and should lessen these silence behaviors.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the usefulness of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) through a character analysis of a novel and to improve the understanding of various types of people. This study aimed to increase nurses' understanding and empathy regarding the personality of various patients. Methods: This study categorized the characters in the novel Our Happy Time based on MBTI and analyzed their personality characteristics. Results: It is important for nurses to understand that the following types of patients can be identified using the MBTI: those with a concise explanation (ENTP), a modest attitude (ISFJ), an objective response (ENFJ), and a logical response (ENTJ). Conclusion: It is important for nurses to broaden their understanding of various personality types and backgrounds related to the formation of patients' personalities that they encounter in the clinical field via analyses using the MBTI personality types. Furthermore, understanding communication skills can be an important first step in resolving conflicts that occur during peer interactions.

데이컴기법을 활용한 분만실 간호사의 업무활동 분석 (Analysis of Activities and Services of Delivery Room Nurses Based on DACUM Technique)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to analyze various nursing services of delivery room nurses by hospital level, and identify importance and frequency to provide baseline data to establish delivery room nurses' roles. Methods: Through DACUM analysis technique, service descriptions, duties, and tasks were derived from the literature. A survey was done of 242 nurses from delivery rooms of hospitals, general hospitals, superior general hospitals, and special hospitals. Importance and frequency of each service were measured using a 4point scale, and results were analyzed using SPSS. Results: Nursing services for delivery room nurses consisted of 18 duties and 86 tasks. Duties with the highest importance were 'labor support' and 'infection management', and those with lowest importance were 'collaborative care' and 'communication'. The duty with the highest frequency was 'labor support', and lowest frequency was 'communication'. There were differences between importance and frequency depending on the size of hospitals. Conclusion: Results of this first study on nursing services of delivery room nurses. delivery room nurses are performing a wide range of nursing services and the various types are clarified including importance and frequency.

의사소통에 대한 국내 간호연구 분석 (An Analysis of the Nursing Research on Communication in Korea)

  • Purpose: This research was done in order to provide basic data for future research on communication and development of programs. Research methods and key areas of previous nursing research on communication in Korea were analyzed. Method: Journals with themes or titles 'nurse-patient communication', 'nursing and communication' and 'interaction between nurse-patient' were searched through internet search engines. Results: The most prevalent research design was survey and nurses were the main participants. Questionnaire was the most frequently used method to obtain the necessary data for the research. The most frequent nursing research topic regarding communication in Korea was the form of the communications such as 'types of communication', and 'organizational communication'. Conclusion: For future nursing research regarding communications in Korea, the participants and themes should be broadened. There is also a need to develop objective methods to measure and assess the results of communication so as to enable actual application of the results of the studies.
